Beesan  thanks for well wishes and the ear infection remedy. Its wonderful that you have experience with younger siblings. It will help you in the future if you decide to have kids. I have never been around or took care of little ones until I had my own.  I have friends who babysat there little siblings and are experienced in taking care of there own kids. They say that has helped them alot.

AngelSpun thanks for your encouragement and good tips. You are wise!  I always enjoy what you have to write and your input on things. The sticker thing has been going well and hopefully will keep up with it.

Anais thank God you got your gift. I hope you like them. Im just glad that you got them soon enough! Husband sent it out to UPS both times. Even after i told him to send it to US Postal the 2nd time. Roll Eyes

LJ Welcome to my journal! Wink  How many kids do you have and what are there ages? Do you have any tips for picky eaters? The sticker thing has been wonderful. I gave Jimmy my 3.5year old his toy today because the sticker page was filled up. It has helped soooooooo much in good behavior and cleaning up his room/toys. Jimmy is also my picky eater. Hes very skinny and not interested in eating, only playing with blocks or cars or coloring. If anyone has some tips i would appreciate them. Kiss

Back to doing my flylady again. It keeps me in track or organizing things. I subscribed to her emails and daily reminders for detailed cleaning lists. I made a nice lunch today and white rice, chicken and a can of grean peas. I made it for the kids.  I told Jimmy if he eats all his breakfast meals etc. I will take him to Chuckee Cheese every Saturday. He ate his scrambled eggs hassle free for breakfast.  If he doesnt eat he has no energy, says hes always tired. Lunch was kinda a struggle.  Unfortunately it feeling like a daily feeding Jimmy battle. It makes me exhausted trying to get this kid to eat. Ryan is a better eater thankgod! Now he doesnt even care if we go to Chuckee Cheese  or not. I need to try a different method. Suggestions please.......

My blushes, Curlygirl. You flatter me.

What worked when I was babysitting was not allowing the kids to do anything until they finished their dinner (substitute for whatever meal you're serving). This was the same tactic that my own mother used on me when I was very young. She literally refused to let me out of my high chair (and I do remember this) until I had finished everything on my plate. If my dinner got cold, or if I'd mixed it all together, too bad. I had to eat it anyway.

3 of my young cousins were accustomed to having dessert every night after dinner, so it was as easy as denying them dessert if they didn't finish dinner. To the best of my rememberance, they always finished.  Wink

Also, if it gets to be a real problem, you might consider taking some of his stars away for misbehaving (and not eating what you make for him certainly counts as misbehaving!). If you refuse to do an assignment in school, you get docked points and your grade goes down. In a working environment, if you refuse to do something that your boss or someone else asks you to do, you can be written up, suspended or fired. Kids do need to understand not only that doing good earns rewards, but that doing bad warrants punishment.

If you do end up taking some stars away, make sure he knows of other ways that he can earn them back...like doing an extra chore around the house or helping you or his father do something that needs done...or even (God forbid) doing something nice for his brother.  Shocked

Anywho, I should probably say that I feel pretty stupid giving out any kind of parenting suggestions when I don't have any children of my own and have decided not to. So if any or all of the above sounds like absolute hogwash, by all means, feel free to disregard it.  Tongue

I have a 2.5 yo boy and a 4.5 yo girl. She has always been a great eater--used to eat thai food ground up in a manual baby food grinder when she was a year old. She will try anything. My son eats only ketchup. Actually he'll eat a few things but only if dipped in ketchup. Well, he'll eat cereal, too, and apples. My approach with him has been sort of hands-off. I give him a plate with a balanced diet on it, with pasta or chicken and a veggie, and maybe a slice of ww bread & butter as a treat. I make him eat one bite of his vegetable, or a bit more if I know he likes it but is just being fussy, and when I say "make him eat" I mean he doesn't get to get up and play/have bread and butter/read a story until he does as I say. But I do not force him to finish everything on his plate, because I personally believe that he needs to learn what it feels like to be full and how to decide for himself when to stop eating (after he eats his bite of veggie). I also am very realistic about my expectations of him. I know not to give him the pasta w/cherry tomatoes and balsamic reduction that we are eating, instead I keep aside some of the plain pasta and put Prego on it and cheese and call it macaroni (teehee). Both kids get a multi-vitamin each day. Dr. Brazelton's advice (see this page: http://www.health.state.ok.us/program/mchecd/picky.html) is that as long as they get some milk, some juice, some protein and a multi-vitamin they'll be OK until they get older and start eating like humans again. I guess my main bit of advice is, don't let what Jimmy does or does not eat dictate your stress level at meal times. I have been there, frustrated and upset at every mealtime, and I finally said, ENOUGH. I know my Noah will survive with what he is eating, and he sees everyone else eating a balanced diet, so I don't worry about it anymore. I can't, because it will turn me into a wreck at every meal if I let it. *getting off of soap box now*

Angelspun and LG thanks for the tips! Kiss

Hair- washed with a dab of baby shampoo. My hair looks shiny and happy today. Its in a shiny bun today.

Health-Had the same cold and conjection for over a week and I have a nagging ear infection in my right ear. So does Ryan. Sad   Ear infections if not treated can make a person deaf.  Sad I have heard horror stories.

Life- Went to the Car Show yesterday. Im not really into those things. Of coarse i had to go out in the freezing cold yesterday all for husband. Then to dinner where almost everyone was sick. colds, flu, strep throat. I wonder if the flu shot really does work? Only for a small price of $25 for not getting sick for over a week.  At least i fed the kids and they played.

Have you heard of the product "Airborne"?  It is something you take at the first hint of a cold and it helps you fight it better.  It was initially developed by a school teacher who was tired of getting sick with every bug the kids brought to school.  I myself have used it only once when I felt a sore throat coming on and I didn't get any sicker.  I have friends that swear by it.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Dear Journal,

It might be a girl. I feel like im going to have  a girl. I have been eating a ton of sweets. This pregnancy is totally different than the others. I feel absolutely exhausted most of the time Undecided. A little princess, a lifelong friend, someone to cook with, dress up with, my husbands dream: a little baby princess. Hopefully healthy.  Only God knows what it is. I hope everything will be ok. im starting to worry already about labor and pains. Undecided Lips Sealed Thankgod i will know how to care for her hair. hopefully it will be pretty and tangle free. Undecided We are not finding out, but motherly instincts maybe? Also DH says i have been very emotional this pregnancy so thats why it also might be a girl. I feel the same an emotional wreck like usual. Roll Eyes Tongue

Yesterday i had a bad hair day.  Sad After shower i kept it down curly. then it became a frizzy mop. Undecided  Sometimes i feel like if i cant do my own hair well how will i do the kiddies. ???

ooooo, what excitement for you and hubby.  The anticipation can be sooo much fun.  Of course you will handle the labor - you are a pro at this!  And of course you will be able to handle everything associated with the baby, be it a girl or boy.  Grin

BB Smiley thanks for the encouragement!  I am very excited! Ohhh little baby pinkness! Perhaps, we can grow our hair together! Today i put my hair in a loose curly bun. Mom says hair looks knotty. "Did you comb it?" says mom. If i comb my hair out when its dry it will become a frizzy birds nest. I comb it when its wet. Argggggggggggggggg.  I will never be perfect and thats reality. Sometimes i just tell her. Ma, sorry i cant be perfect. Tongue Then i put my hair down and mixed aloe gel with water and put it on my hair. My 3 year old says "Mommy i like your hair". Awwwwwwwww. those words make everything better. what a blessing. Thankgod.

Awwww @ your 3-yr-old.  Smiley  From the mouths of babes, eh Curlygirl?

My cousins would often pay attention to my hair when I came over to babysit them. Sometimes they would brush & style it, other times they would just run their fingers through it and ask how I was able to keep my hair "so soft."  Grin  It's a good feeling.

It's also nice to have someone to talk about "hair stuff" with. That's why we're all here, isn't it?  Wink

Best of luck for a girl. I know she'll be the family's little princess.

AngelSpun Smiley, out of the mouth of babes!!! they are little angels.  Im excited for the new baby. Grin Grin Grin Hopefully healthy. ??? If its a girl Julia and if its a boy we are picking Randy as a name.  Hopefully all goes well. Im still nervous about labor!!!!

Inlaws probs- Mother in law complaining that my kids dont know her. Thats not even true. Jimmy knows her well and loves her very much. Ryan really is a late talker so he is having a hard time saying Grandma. That doesnt mean he doesnt know her.  Sad I cant make everyone happy. Why dont they eat anything and they are way to skinny. MIL declares to my hubby. Sad She also wants us to name it Felicia if its a girl after her. Tongue Yowzers. Thankgod my father in law is nice. Roll Eyes

Hair was in a loose curly bun today. Yesterday night i went to a bridal shower and they had the most gorgeous longlockers ever!!!!! Hair can make or break you. One looked like Miss America with her long highlighted blond/brownish  tailbone hair. Shocked I long for that day to come. Then i got invited to a grad party for March 25. May things go well.

A good stress reliever i read in the newspaper today was to accept the things you cant change. That really relieved me today.
