Dear Hair Diary,

Today I took a break from dancing.  I had done an advanced class and hurt out my neck again.  so I just did house work, made cookies and cuddled my bunny....

Hairs been a happy camper, I found braid waves keep it in check.  Hubby gave me a really good massage lastnght.  Bunny came and cuddled my arm it was soooo relaxing!

You know, sometimes I get really nerveous posting on other boards I go to. This new one I'm one is sorta frendly but I have seen some people get really nasty treatment too.... I'am afraid to ask questions.  I'd rather just look up what I need to know.  Happly this place is nothing like that at all, thank god!  I love this place!

...

...
bye for now!

I'm glad you feel comfy here - that is our goal.  My experience has been that the larger the site gets, the harder it is to keep that friendly, safe feeling.  Not to mention that some people purposely try to create trouble.   Angry  Even closely monitored sites like LHC can't always keep everyone in check.  We are a very small group here (I wouldn't mind a few more people posting, however) which makes it pretty easy to moderate and people are not as likely to post outrageous comments.

The larger the site, the more likely people are to just respond without thinking, I think. Here, you know you'll be talking to the same people just about every day, unless you decide to up and quit, so you're more likely to think, "I know I dissagree with this, strongly even, but is there any need to insult/attack someone I like that much?" it's like the difference between the world-at-large, and a small group of friends. in general, people are more likely to attack a stranger, or one who they've had little contact with, than a close friend or treasured relative. (naww, I've not given this subject any thought at all.. LOL)

I tried LHC for a while, I even went there more often on a weekly basis than here, for a while. but... This is where I feel at home.

Also, I'm sorry your neck hurts... take it easy, girl. there's years to get things right... but it only takes a few seconds for things to go wrong.

That depends on the size/strength of your moderating team. I belong to a very large, high-traffic (non-hair-related) online community, and generally, everyone there is very polite - it isn't like most other forums on the net. But even the slightest traces of disrespect or irrelevance, and the mods are on you like a pack of rabid wolves. I've watched it happen to so many people over time, I can't even tell you. But yeah, they don't mess around.

Unfortunately, not all forums are moderated so diligently and, well, drama happens. Regardless of the size or terms of an online community, I live by what my mother drove into my head from a young age: If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

If somebody disses you on a forum, don't gratify their small-mindedness with a response.

I know what you mean about LongLocks not being as bad as *ahem* certain others. I was a member of a different long hair community some years ago...and there's a reason why I am here now and not there. That's all I have to say.

Hope your neck feels better soon. I just got over a pinched nerve myself.  Tongue

Dear Hair Dairy,

I did part of my core workout today.  I've been feeling ancey lately, I hate to tell my doctor, but if it keeps up I will have to (this might mean a med change)...

I've been trying to find a Ansuya zill DVD for less then 50 bucks with no luck!  I even make an e-bay offer and they would not take it. I only asked for 5 bucks off! Embarrassed  I thought what else does this DVD have on it? The meaning of life! (I know it's 42)...

I must measure my mane!  It's so cool to see my hair long again!  It took a while but it was so worth it!

Bye for now! Smiley

I'd look on Amazon.com see if the DVD is listed for sale there and if so check the reviews (which is something you can't do on eBay).  Based on the reviews, you may find that it isn't worth the price.  I have the Saroyan zills instruction dvd which is only about  20.00 on eBay but I like it.  I hate recommending things though because what works for some may not work for someone else.  At any rate, I hope you find one you like at a good price because 42.00 is pretty steep. Undecided

I also wanted to comment that the main reason that I joined this site is because it's like a small family in a sense, and everyone was so nice, respectful and welcoming.  I've been to other sites where that is not the case.  I really don't understand why some people get off on being mean to others but whatever the reason, a site that condones that type of behavior is not somewhere I'd want to be.

Hmm.... I  thought the Anauya would be good.....  Thanks for the heads up!  ...

At one point, a few years ago, I made the mistake of jointing a forum where the people there had me in tears Embarrassed  The trolling was somthing harsh so I left it.  Then just this year I visited an old forum (not the same one)  and posted a hello and pic of the subject of the discussion.  My post was locked, pic deleted with a nasty note saying to stay away. Undecided Lips Sealed Embarrassed.  Yes some people do get off on being mean to others on forums.  In real time they would never have the nerve, the buggers!...

Hope your neck is feeling better, Lisabelle. *gah, sorry, 'nee san! If you read the post before I edited it, I wrote the wrong name!*

I'm sorry you had that experience on another forum. Even though the internet is an anonymous place and people can do/say whatever they want without real-life repercussions, that was a pretty *bleepy* thing to do to another human being. Angry

I'm glad you like LL! I have to agree about feeling like we're a family here. I joined LHC a little after LL, but haven't posted in years. While there's a lot of information there, I didn't feel like I was actually a part of the community, so I like the close-knit atmosphere here MUCH more.

Wow, that experience was harsh.  People can be such as*es! Angry

Anyway, I wasn't saying Anauya wasn't a good dvd.  I didn't check the reviews.  I was just recommending that it may be a good idea for you to do so before spending so much on a dvd, thats all. Wink

Dear Hair Dairy,

Oh what a yucky day! After lunch I got a nasty belly ache.  So much so I had to go to bed.  I slept till 6!
I had eggs and tomatoes for lunch (never again)  It wasn't just a belly ache it was a body ache as well.  I did not puke or anything but it did hurt. Undecided Lips Sealed Embarrassed Tongue

Maybe my body is angery due to my workouts?  Huh

Anyway I should eat something.

Bye for now.....

Dear Hair Dairy,

I am much better today.  Now poor hubby has it. ...  So I put him to bed and shut the ringer off the phone. I did my moving mediation today.  I really like it!  Thanks to that special person! Wink I then practiced my zills. I’m getting the hang of it! ...

It has been so cold in my place.  We bled the radiators and they’re still only slightly warm.  I think the landlord has cheaped out again ...  The water tanks are still leaking in the basement…

We have huricane Noel coming up the coast toward us.  There battening down the hatches in Newfoundland.  I wonder how hard my area will get it?  I will make sure the garbage pails are tied down in there little house outside.  Not much I can do with the recycling bins thought.

I ordered myself some more bellydancing clothes.  I got a halter top and a hip scarf that is just covered in bells, coins and multi colored dangley things.  I have been eyeing it for a while now and thought, heck I need a treat!  I have been looking at different instrcutonal DVD’s for sword and candleabra balancing. I would love to try these things!

Bye for now! ...

It's funny, I've never thought of hurricanes hitting Canada. Roll Eyes  I hope you stay safe, are you on the coast?

Swords and candleabras...you're really going all out with the bellydancing.  Isn't it great to find something that you can enjoy so much? Cheesy
