Dear Hair Diary,

Woo.. it's dark this morning! Shocked  Here we go with cold weather time.  My hair seems to behave a lot better in the cold.  Did my CO ACV CO wash yesterday, of which is the mid point between shampoo's and put jojoba oil on the end while it was drying.  I've been noticing a lot of people with dry hair lately. The change in weather has been quite fast this year, so I've got my oils and humidifer at the ready.

And now for my first Sunday's Hair Hunters Gatherings report:
I live across from a highschool and the young ladies there have an assortment of different hair.  Some still have long hair like the 13 to 15 year olds, others have heavly frosted hair.  The young men have there hair quite short but not dyed like Eminem anymore.
Hair coloring is on the rise.  Every magazine has some advert and boy do they make you feel like ^&*% if your not dying your hair.  It seems grey is they evil monster now- a- days.  It seems women and men would rather have fake looking unheathly hair and get a date then just beeing themselves.  On other fronts long hair is on the rise and in vogue. Those old jaw type hair clips are back, along with headbands.  Also products to make hair shine are all the rage.  Now, if they all just stopped killing there hair they wouldn't need to use any of this suff, but then the hair care industry would take a huge stock drop and they don't want that...

How interesting!  I'll have to do some hair hunting, myself.  Sometimes when I go to my hairdresser for a trim, I ask her what people have been asking for.  It's so funny that whenever a celebrity starts to get popular, there's a large demand at the salon for it.  If I were to make a guess, I bet the Desperate Housewives styles are "in" right now.

Thanks Cynde! 8) I was hoping this little colume would be of interest and spark some neat convesations. And, like the late Bob Hunter, I sit at my computer in my bathrobe with my tea but, I have my bunny on my lap  Grin

After reading that article I just realized that hair dye commercials geared towards men are becoming more--what's the word I'm looking for--blatant. I think I saw one where some guys (or maybe it's the same guy) color their hair and there's different situations where women start hitting on the man/men. And then the end shot is of a guy and a woman running off to the barn and you pretty much know what's going to happen next. Tongue

Ah the "evil" gray hairs. I've become rather fond of mine and was annoyed when my hairdresser pulled one out when I went for a trim in January. As weird as it sounds, I was happy when it started to grow back.

That was quiet interesting.

I noticed too that hair dying ( should rename it into hair killing) is totally "normal" already for kiddos in 2nd or 3rd grade. How pathetic! And what really gets my goat is when the Mamis stand there and defend their kids hair with phrases like:" She/He wanted it soooo bad". Excuse me? A child that age "wants" that? I could go on and on about this  ???

Dear Hair Diary,

Wow, I'm happy to see my new colume is sparking some interesting posts Grin  I have been "Gathering" more info for next Sunday.  Well today is wash day, lastnight I oiled my hair with Amla oil and put Camillia oil on the ends.  My hair just soaks it all up.  I find wetting my hair before oiling makes it better somehow.  Found the hair comb I was looking for!
...

Apparently this set is 150 years old! The largest of the hair sticks is 9 1/2" long by 3/4" wide by 3/8" thick. The other hair stick is 6" long by 1/2" wide by 1/4" thick. The comb is 4 1/2" wide by 2 1/4" tall by 1/4" thick. for 20 bucks US I think I got a good deal!  I think there made of horn ???  Anyway I can't wait for them to arrive!

Bye for now!

Dear Hair Dairy,

Today I put my hair up in little buns, covered them with little bun covers I got at the dollar store and did the house work.  When hubby got home at 6:00 he was looking a me really strange.  It took him a while but he worked up the courage to say "Did you cut your hair?"  I laughed, you see I didn't have my sock buns in and my buns were so small he thought I cut my hair.  Boy did he looked releaved when I took the buns out!  Poor guy! Cheesy

Bye for now Wink

Interesting, here in San Antonio dying one's hair is the norm.  Little kids want to be like big kids and the big kids want to be like the adults.  Tipping (bleaching the tips) is not as popular as it used to be but streaking the hair blond is very big.  Many hispanic men dye their hair black to get rid of the greys.  And I can count on one hand the number of women I know who DON'T put streaks in their hair.

I personally love gray hair.  I can't wait for my hubby to get salt and pepper hair!!

Dear Hair Dairy,

Hair has been acting okay, dispite premenstral homones.  Again I credit the cool weather.

An now for Hair Hunters Gatherings:

I have been observing and interviewing young men and ladies at a local secondary school.  The weather has been cold and I have seen some young girls with their long hair frozen, but not by hairspray-- literary frozen.  Their hair was so brittle looking I worried if they shook their heads hard enough it would break.  When asked they said they had no time to blow-dry, I suggested washing at night and at least one girl said she would try it.  Dandruff was a compliant amongst the boys, all of which were using heavy amounts of styling gel.  There favorite is a wax prepared for Afro/Canadian hair. It is way too thick for Caucasian hair, but according to them, has the best hold.  I told them that the buildup could lead to hair loss as this wax was suffocating their scalps.  Hopefully they will think about not using this product. I asked the Punk/Goth kids about using Cool Aid as a gel and they said no one uses it anymore.  Some said they have been using Elmer’s glue to hold up spikes and Mohawk’s.  It’s cheaper (and easier to steal) then big bottles of gel.  We all messed up our hair when we were kids.  Nothing was worst then the 80's.  Hairspray stock must have been big along with the hair and the ozone layer payed the price.

Another great report, Lisabelle! I think it's neat that you can go up to strangers and start talking to them about hair.

I didn't know (some) kids use glue to hold their hairstyles. I guess it makes sense, but I hope that stuff is easy to wash out.  ???

Thanks Juri!

It's the ex-new yorker in me that has the nerve to do reporting I guess!  I think the glue does wash out...I think?
