Dear Hair Dairy,

I tryed my Veena and Neena Beyond Dance Basics today and loved it!  When I practice I l have egypten incense buring in a censer and candle scattered about to set a really nice mood.  I had lots of fun but was thankful that I started with the first DVD Basic Dance else I would not be able to keep up!

Today was a sweaty day for hair, it was in a bun for most of the time.  It rained all day and its quite sultry tonight, almost like the US south.  No sun today though so my Lime Pickle did not get its sunlight today Undecided Well it should be alright.  I roaseted more cumin seeds (I like these on pizza and in milk)

Hubbies back to work this week so I made him his bead for lunches.  I just found out he hogged all the frozen yoghert! Bad boy! Roll Eyes

Bye for now!

I love reading about your pickling and stuff and how you put such interesting things on pizza.  You have got me thinking that maybe I should make a few pizza crusts and start experimenting.  Whenever I read what you are doing, I get images of the explosion of flavour you must get in your mouth when you eat your pizza.  I am not a huge pizza fan when it is traditional pizza.  I like the newer variations that are showing up these days.

I have to try my Veena and Neena video today.  I haven't had a chance until today...but it is time to start a routine up.  Must get fit again.  Thanx for telling me about them.  While I have not tried it yet, I was out with a friend last weekend who told me they are the best and that she uses hers almost daily. She says she has never had such a great mid-section.

You will have to teach me how to do this picking thing next year.  I always like to try new things.  Recipes, when the time comes, would be great.

Wink I love to experiment with different tastes, from the subtlety of Japanese food to the unique favorers of Indian food. The great part is my hubby like these things too so I get to try them out on him Wink

The belly dancing is great and if someone as clumsy as me can do it anyone can!  I use mine every other day, on the off day I do power walking.

Ah the pickles!  I am the adventurous sort and love to try new stuff in cooking (and everything else!)  When your ready I cans start you on your way!

Lisabelle,

Great, I would love to try some of your recipes...and the whole Japenese thing sounds great to me.  When I was a young girl, my family travelled 3/4 of the world.  As a result, I will try pretty much try anything as long as it does not involve liver or kidneys...something about the texture of those....yuk.  I have a feeling you are a vegan...so I don't need to worry about that if I am right.

I did not get to the belly dancing today...I have had a really stiff neck (waking me up at night and all) but it seems to be doing better so I will endeavour to try them tomorrow...although I am out for about 12 hours tomorrow so I might not...Weds then.

BTW, I love pickles...or anything pickled for that matter!!

Dear Hair Diary,

The hot weather has finnally broke! Woo Hoo!   No more drowing in one's own sweat! My poor hair is suffering braid frizz Cry a drop of Ojon so fix that.  Did some henna on my feet lastnight.  Today I am going to make samosas! Cool I bake mine instead of frying, this makes them less fattening.  Had a hoot belly dancing yesterday, I feel like I am really getting the hang of it!

Bye for now! Cool

Dear Hair Diary,

What a busy bee I was today! ... The samosas came out great! and I started a garlic pickle! House is nice and clean and I went for my walk, tomorrow is Bellydancing!!!

One a sad note Honest Ed passed away, he was a Canadian Icon who had a neat resturant and a doller store downtown.  Bye bye Ed... Cry Kiss

In other news, Eddie (the Saint Bernard) almost got hit by a car today.  It's his owners fault as the dog is not properly trained! Cry  I will have a fit if that dog gets hurt! Sad My twit of a landlord owns this dog and thinks dogs do not need training... His last Saint bit my husband --- just think of  something the size of a bear grabbing your arm!  I should have sued Sad

In better news, Hubbies out doing a flooring job so I got the TV all to me and bunny!!

Bye for now. Wink

Hey Lisabelle,

I have to tell you that I love your little face thingies that you interject into the posts.  They are soo funny and cute.

Some dogs cannot be trained to stay away from cars...I have one...which means I have to make sure she cannot get near them lose.  Responsibility is huge...and it sound like your landlord doesn't have any.

In a way I am glad you did not sue your landlord about the dog.  Dog would have been put on death row...although if the dog did that often...maybe that would have been best.  BTW, remember that if a dog bites someone and is euthed in less than 10 days, the dog's head is cut off and sent for studies to ensure that rabies was not the cause.  I will never forget the sound of the axe coming down in the clinic when the body collector came and had to take the head off an animal.  I used to run outside for a smoke when the body guy came and I knew there was an animal that needed to be beheaded.  Shudder.

Samosas, I would love to try making samosas.  Recipe?  Pls, pls, pls?  And I like that you don't fry it.  Very cool.

I had to laugh when you said about the TV.  What is it with men and remote controls???

The dog that bit hubby was border line crazy, this was not Eddie but Benny. He had bit a number of people inculding the landlords son (17 stiches in the leg). Oh my god, that is horriable about the dogs heads!...

Here's there receipe for Samosas:

A simple potato dish that can be served on its own or used as a Samosa filling.

Note:  It best to boil the potatoes and let them cool before you put this dish together.

7 medium sized potatoes, peeled and boiled and diced into 1 inch pieces or half a bag of frozen then cooked veggies
10 tablespoons vegetable oil or 7 tbps of olive oil
1/8 teaspoon ground asafetida
1-teaspoon whole fennel seeds
1-teaspoon whole cumin seeds
1-teaspoon whole black mustard seeds
12 whole fenugreek seeds
3 whole dried hot red peppers
½ teaspoon ground turmeric
1 ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Before you start get the cooked potatoes ready in a bowl or have the veggie cooked and well drained.  In a wok or 10-12 inch pot, heat the oil over medium flame.  When very hot, put in the asafetida, 5 seconds latter the fennel and cumin seeds then the fenugreek seed and mustard seeds quickly. As they begin to change color and pop add the red pepper.  As soon as the pepper begins to swell and darken add the diced potatoes or veggies, turmeric and salt.  Fry on medium heat till the potatoes are lightly browned.  Squeeze lemon juice over them and check the salt.   Then set aside to cool now make the dough

Pre heat oven to 400 F

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup water
3 tbsp olive oil

Now rub the flour and oil togther in a bowl and add the water a little at a time until you have a stiff dough. (you don't have to use all the water) Now knead for about 10 mins ( I use the knead cycle on my bread machine)  when ready form into a ball and brush with a little olive oil.

Putting it together:

I use a perogie maker and roll out a small ball of dough place it on the maker and add the filling then close it to seal.  Place on a cookie sheet that has ben sprayed with non stick stuff like Pam. When the cookie sheet is full put in a 400 degree oven for 20 mins.

Now I kow some of the spices may be hard to find if you do not have an indian supermarket handly.  You can leave out the asafetida it won't hurt it. I must have made these a zillion times and each time they taste a little different depending on how much hot chillies I put in! Roll Eyes

Oooh, thank you for the recipe.  I might get to it next weekend.  This weekend is too full.  Yahoo. (although if I want to be mean, I can be making it when my hubby comes to get his stuff because he loves samosas - -  Roll Eyes)

Well Angel, I am probably not a good person to explain samosa.  I will do my best and let Lisabelle fill in the gaps.  It is a filling (if you look at the recipe above, vegan but can be done with meat too) in a pastry/dough.  It is not a true pastry but it is not a dough in that it is not made with yeast.

They are really yummy and  you can eat them hot or cold.  Some people eat then straight up, but I like to put sweet mango chutney on them ( I buy either Pataks or Stonewall Kitchen ---which calls itself Curried Mango instead of sweet mango).  If you buy pataks, be careful...they do real indian food and have many mangos...some of which are so spicey that in time they will eat through the metal lid...I like those too...but they are really hot...and I think you can only buy the really hot ones in an indian store while the milder ones are in just starting to show up in grocery stores here.

Anyway, they are good...although I must admit I have no idea what asafetida is...but I will look around and find out.

I tried to find a link so you could see what they look like but had not luck.  If you go into a big box store and they have a section for instant meal that are freshly made (we have that next to our produce here in Canada...you know, that roast chickens cooked and ready to go area, fresh ...Lord my brain just died....umm, the fresh uncooked fish in rolls....area)  That is where you might see them....I think you are in Canada...go into an Independant gorcery store and they will have them near the produce.  They are good and you can try one there to see if you like them
