I'm not sure if harrassment law is the same in the States as it is over here in the U.K., but from what you've said that's the clearest and most straightforward case of it I've ever seen or read in my life !

Are you and all the other affected tenants able to get any free legal advice ? If so I'd definitely get together either as a pressure group or on your own and get their views on what to do next. In addition ask them if they can obtain a "Fair Rent" assessment(s) as well. Nothing like the threat of a binding court order to stop him trying his luck on you all now and in the future I think !!

Don't forget you all have your legal rights too so nip it in the bud just as quickly as you can !

Arcadian, Thank you for the link but I'm not in the states I'm in Canada. I wish I could get the other tenents in on it but there too afraid of the old bugger... I will try to get a free consulation with a lawyer regarding this. Again thank you Arcadian your post made me feel alot better cause sometimes one feels so hopeless in these situations. The man is an over baring sod, who, has lost his marbles. Sad

Canada's fine because they've more or less followed UK law.

And how old is he ? Does he live alone ? For instance he might not have full legal ownership.... How long have you been living there ? Did you have a legal tenancy agreement drawn up ? Did he use a firm of lawyers or was it just the usual back of an envelope stuff and so on ? Has he ever threatened physical force ? Have you kept copies of all written agreements as that's always very handy....

There was also a lady whose name I can't unfortunately remember, recently trying to find some info on disabled housing etc. in the States....

To all tenets,

No tenants have has a rent increase since 2003. Everybody knows how cash has increased, including me, however I feel my tenants should appreciate the discount there reserving. Rents should have increased in 2003 to 2.69%/- 2004 –2.9% - 2005 1.5% - 2006 2.1% - 2007 2.6% all these increases would now make you rent $925.00 per month.

For those tenets who didn’t appreciate the discount they received – pay the rent now.
For those who do appreciate the discount. Pay the old rent and I will accept it as full payment

Landlord’s Name

This man will be 78 this year, lives with his wife. We;ve been here 14 years and have no lease. I would think he has a lawyer, he has never threatned use physical. But over the years other's have. This man doesn't answer his phone and will not leave his house at night. I could go on and on.... One person in the building was like hell, do we have to? Genuflect to this bugger? Angry

Dear Hair Diary,

Whew its 90 degress in the shade! I have my hair up in a really high bun, reminds me of a nasty nurse in a B movie. I got my bathtub filled up and have been taking dips all day. I did my bellydancing today and dispite the fans I had on me I sweated up a storm. Mum says that she will buy us an AC next year (I wish it was next year now). I try to think of Feburary....snow, sleet, freezing cold winds... I like Fall best of all the seasons, mind it will be here really soon! I did some Henna on my hands and it came out really dark thanks to the heat. I will post a photo soon
