Pan's Hair

I would love to begin a hair journal with you ladies, your insight has helped me CO and use jojoba oil.  I have also vowed to get my color back to au natural - and leave it that way.  <hugs>

This will also be a good reference if anyone is thinking about dying their naturally blonde hair black.  Unless you're going to (painfully) let it grow out, this is a process that was recommended to me by a few colorists.

After I decided that black hair was too difficult to maintain, the hair dye (Redken) needed to be lifted to a deep brown.  The colorist made a bleach mix with equal parts shampoo and conditioner.  She washed it into my hair until my scalp couldn't take anymore.

The hair lifts to a deep brown, but the roots turn lemon blonde.  I let the hair sit for over a month  This step was the most painful one.  After the black faded more, I went in to get skinny little highlights everywhere.  I also had a semi-permanent put on my roots to hide the outgrowth.  It is now a beautiful, warm light brown, and from here I can let the color begin to grow out.  I haven't seen my natural haircolor in so long! =p

I like it, but my hair is suffering.  I had to cut quite a bit off.  It is now past the shoulder a few inches.  The shortest it has been in 7 years!

On the bright side, my layers are all gone.  Hooray!  I never realized how THICK my hair is.

Tried a new conditioner!  Infusium 23 Moisture.  Didn't do anything too terribly terriffic, but the hair didn't get sticky or weighed down.  I have gotten much more proficient with the fishbone braid.  I can make it very even.  Now my friend's sisters want their hair braided every time I come over.  My hands were beginning to hurt, he has 4 sisters.

Just bought the Sky Bloo MajeSticks.  I practiced a few hairstyles today and now I'm just going to wait patiently for them.

Waiting is the hardest!  To help pass the time, practice your buns and updos with other sticks, so you will be ready when they arrive!

Today is lazy day.  I'm going to leave my hair in a braid and watch The Phantom of the Opera.

CO is going so darn well.  My hair feels thicker.  I have very very minimal scalp gunk.  I think its because I tried that scritching method. My hair hasn't been 'washed' for 5-6 days now.  I lost track of the date.  I always do that during the summertime.

I got a lil job at the local video store.  The great thing is that I will be the only one working there, and I can bring my Alienware laptop and play Warcraft 3 all day.

Yes!

Yesterday I was a "Hair Counselor" for my long-haired guy friends.  I referred them to the forums, who knows, maybe they'll drop in and register?

I'm still deciding the fate of my hair (color).  I think I'm going to try to grow my natural color out.  Tacky roots and all.  We'll see how that goes.  I want virgin hair again, so that's the only way to truly get it. =P

I'm not too concerned about getting long hair as fast as possible.  I can be patient---I just have to work at it.

My sister bought me some Redken Clear Moisture shampoo and conditioner.  I'm not sure if that is the exact name.  I still have to pick it up.  I'll post how it feels later.  I CO, but I feel like I'll have to shampoo to make sure the scalp gets cleaned. I'll do C+COW+C or something of that nature.

Still waiting on my Skye Bloo MajeSticks.  I also bought some more jojoba oil, cause I found a good deal.  I need to invest in some good hair cutting scissors.

I also drew out an idea for a hairstick.  We'll see if I ever get around to it.  I need to buy some basswood first.  (When basswood is finely sanded, it feels like velvet.)

I like the conditioner and deep conditioning treatment.  I went to my best friend's pool the last two days, and the hair doesn't feel so good.  I also got sunburnt.

Embarrassed   <---- See?  My face is all red! Tongue

One thing the Chlorine DID do was get rid of some color deposits.  I don't want straw-like hair though.  Doing a deep conditioning treatment right now, and I'm eating some ice cream.  Yum.

Yesterday while I was doing my deep conditioning treatment, my mom fell off the front step at our house.  So that was an ER visit =/  She broke her rib and ankle.  Poor mommy.  Sad  I took care of her hair though. I put some jojoba oil in it and braided it while we were waiting for the doctor.

My sunburn is peeling.  I guess SPF 15 doesn't work so well.  I CO'ed today, the chlorine did quite a good job cleansing my scalp. O__O

Since I gave up heat styling, my hair has changed texture.  In a good kind of way.  I let the natural body wave show instead of using a straight iron.  Its a very summer-like look, I guess.  My bangs do a weird flippy-like thing, but I stopped caring about those things =P  I may grow em out.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom.  I hope she heals quickly.

And for that sunburn - aloe vera gel is fantastic on burns.  It cools the "fire" and helps the healing process.

::gets up on a soapbox::
Please, please, please, try to keep from getting sunburns.  This is the number one cause of skin cancer.  The more often you burn yourself before you are 21, the more likely you are to get skin cancer.  Sun blocks MUST be reapplied frequently.  For the best protection, it should be applied 15 minutes BEFORE you expose yourself to the sun, and it should be reapplied at least every 30 minutes or each time you leave the water.

Awwww thanks momma BB! =)  I promise I'll put on a good sunscreen, just for you! (and for my skin, of course) I don't know what I was thinking when I didn't grab the SPF 45.   ???  I have alabaster skin.

I didn't know about that re-apply rule.  Gotta tell my girlfriends about that.  From now on, I'm going to treat my skin like I treat my hair!

Woot my hairsticks came in!  I love the perfumed tissue paper.  They slide into the hair very well.  Very happy!  Happy happy happy!

Tomorrow I'm going to get a quick trim.  I love getting em.  Just a 1/4 inch will be perfect to polish off the ends.

I need to also buy a pair of hair-cutting scissors.  To dust or whatnot.

Hooray!   Grin
