Thank you all!  It was a fun pic to take, and had to take about 20 shots to get 1 good one.  It was quite a contortionist act - I had to make sure the camera was on (it has an auto-shutoff), lie down, get in the right spot, arrange hair in swirls, keep shoulders down, keep arms out of the way, eyebrows and cheeks raised, keep eyes up, keep chin down - all the while clicking the camera remote so the auto-shutoff wouldn't kick in.  Then I get up, check shots, and repeat.  I look all calm and relaxed but I felt like I had a workout after.  Cheesy

Thank you much!  I think I'm going to look into getting a tube top so I can actually wear that top out and about.  Maybe I'll get used to the open back eventually.

First ACV Rinse, Ever

As I mentioned earlier, I goofed and didn't give my hair time to adjust to the organics.  So I wanted to start off right this time, and did an ACV rinse after my shampoo.  I let it sit for a while, then rinsed.  I wanted to see the effects, so I didn't condition.  I detangled and let it air dry.  The ends started to dry a lot faster than the length - just about 1 inch at the bottom.  So I dampened the ends, and applied a drop of organic conditioner diluted in water.

After it was dry, my hair felt lighter and the strands were smoother.  My scalp also felt "fresh" and my skin did not dry out, which I was worried about.  The color looks lighter, or less red.

I will be adding ACV rinses to my haircare regiment.  The amount and timing is still to be worked out.  1 tablespoon ACV in 2 cups water seemed good, but I'm not sure if it should be more.  Also, I need to figure out something for my ends if they continue to be dry.  Maybe some shea butter.  Cheesy

First Time using Shea Butter

After my dry-ends experience last night after ACV, I thought it was a good idea to pick up some shea butter.  Selection was easy - the health food store, which is the size of a super market, had one brand, and only one tub left of that brand!  They were having a big sale, so I got lucky I guess.  The one I got was this:

After washing with just shampoo and conditioner, I applied to my ends while it was still wet.  It was pretty hard to get the amount I wanted out of the tub, so I think I ended up buttering too much.  I liked the results -my ends were soft and easy to detangle.

Naughty Knots

I cut these last night.  They are so annoying - tiny little knots.  I don't get split ends but I get these.  Does anyone else get these??

...

Scarf Variants with Sticks

Actually, a square bandana, not really a scarf.

This is under-over and ties on top.  This is the loose version - it kind of resembles a sack:
...

And the side view:
...

This is the tighter version - it resembles a bun cover:
...

This wraps over the top, ending at the bottom  I wrapped the sticks too - makes me look like there's a lot of hair in there Smiley:

...

Instructions for Under-Over variant

  • Fold the bandana diagonally so that one end is shorter than the other.  Fold the excess several times until it forms a triangle
  • ...
  • Put hair up in a bun with sticks forming an "X"
  • ...
  • Wrap the long ends of the triangle around the bun, with the short flap underneath, facing your back.  Tie on top.  You can make this as tight or as loose as you want
  • ...
  • Take the end of the longer flap and flip it up going between the sticks and over the bun.  Tie the ends again, over the flap to secure it.  I even flip the corner and tie it over a third time, but that's optional.

Very cool bun cover with sticks!

As for the knots....... do you get them after leaving your hair down?  or after washing?

Thanks BB and Lisabelle!

BB - I'm not sure when the knots happen.  But I don't notice them until after a wash because when my hair is wet I can really feel them.  I'll try to pay attention to when they seem to occur.  Perhaps it happens when I'm detangling?

That bandana bun cover is a neat idea, Khrome!

I get those little knots too. I'm not sure what's causing mine, but I end up finding them when I look for split ends.

Washing could be the cause - are you careful about not moving the length of your hair?  Do you completely detangle before you wash?

Thankee Moonchild and Juri!

BB - I detangle before I wash, but when I wash I still end up getting things all uneven.  After shampoo, it's very tangly.  I also use a wide tooth comb when doing conditioner, and I bet that's when I get the knots.  I will pay attention tonight.

But then again, I used to get knots before I use the conditioner comb... Hmm.....  Maybe it's an asian hair thing since Juri get's them too.

Hair Minion Designs (tm)

Last night, HM (aka boyfriend aka hair minion) wanted to "make a new style".  So with much tugging and twisting, he came up with this 'do (it does not have a name, and he's not telling me how he did it, though I have a good guess)
...

And then for his second trick, he did this style - looks like a cinnamon bun, but I know he got to it by different means.  Smiley
