I'm gonna try this!
Oct 24th, 2005 at 2:50pm

Hello! I am the mother of 6 wonderful children that really make my life complete. (no I'm not crazy, I love kids) I am the wife of the best man that has ever come into my life!
OK I admit it, my hair is not long Roll Eyes...YET. I have was sick for quite a long time and after having surgery, my hair began to fall out. Embarrassed I have that part solved now. My hair is barely past my shoulders and I am trying to let it grow. It seems that I get it a little long and I get sick again and my hair falls out. But I did find alot of really good advice here! So I am giving this a try.
Everyone seems really nice! Thanks for making me feel welcome! Smiley

WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME!!!  Grin

So glad you finally introduced yourself!  I don't think you're crazy for having 6 children, I wish I could be in those shoes myself, actually.  I have a friend who is a wonderful person and has 5 children now and intends to keep on going.  Since we were small, she always wanted to be a mom, and she IS!  By the way, she's only 29!!!  She is supermom, she home-school's them all, has home cooked meals every day, prayer nights for her children, and she and her husband even set aside "date nights" where each of them will spend one on one time with each of the kids so no one is neglected.  I guess that can easily happen in a big family!  I really admire her, and I bet you are a wonderful mom, too!  Anyhow...I'm glad that you joined us here, and I hope we can all help you to grow the hair of your dreams, and I'm sorry to hear that you have been dealing with illness, but hopefully you are able to overcome it.  We know you can do it!  (((Hugs)))

LOL!  I just looked at your profile and saw that you are only 29 as well!

So I guess that makes YOU "supermom"!  Grin

Welcome!
Having a house full of kids can be so energizing - what are their ages?

I hope your health issues have been resolved and you grow your hair to whatever beautiful length you desire!

My children are 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7. I have one in each grade from 6th to 1st. I do not claim to be supermom, but thank you. I think I could improve some, I have 6 college classes, 6 children, a husband, 2 dogs, 25 chickens and a house all that depend on me. I don't get to do as much as I would like with my kids. We do go to the ocean every weekend and put a fishing net out and stay the night on the beach. The kids love that!!!  Smiley

You are all so nice!  Cheesy

By the way, my daughter has hair that is pretty long and she loves the ocean. Unfortunately the salty water is damaging her hair. What can I do to improve her hair and get the dryness from the salt water out? (shes 12 going on 21)

My hair is barely past my shoulders and I am trying to let it grow.

I started growing out my hair in March of this year (from a short style) so mine is just now reaching my shoulders.  Let us know if we can help with anything!

There are a couple of things she can do to help prevent damage from the salt water.

1.  Before going in the water, rinse her hair with clear water.  That will moisturize the hair with "good" water, which helps keep the "bad" water out.

2.  Add oil or conditioner to the hair.  This also helps keep the good moisture in and prevent the bad water from getting to the hair.

3.  Rinse the hair with clear water after swimming to remove the salt water.  Add conditioner or oil to the length.

Of course, keeping the hair out of the salt water would probably be best.  Grin  I found that putting my hair in a braided bun on top of my head at least kept my hair out of the water most of the time.  If staying in the water a long time, I would put a plastic bag over the bun.  This would help keep most of my hair out of the salt water.  (I had a cute scrunchie I would use to hold the baggy over my bun.  That at least did not look quite as "dorky" as just the plastic bag on my head!).

Welcome!!  That is so wonderful that you have a big family!!  Hubby and I must be slackers, we are just now working on our second child Grin

I was sick last year and had surgery.  I experienced a lot of hair loss.  I found drinking high protien shakes really helped with my hair and helping me heal.  I got the ones at GNC that the hardcore body builders drink.  After my body healed I stopped drinking them.
