Hi from the UK
Jan 14th, 2006 at 10:49am

Hi there,

I found this site searching google for home recipes for hair care.

I have waist length ginger/auburn/strawberry blonde hair (yes it has been described as all three but I guess I am just a redhead).

My hair is very thick, fairly coarse and fairly wavy and unless I use straighteners I look like the wild woman of borneo. I used to hate my hair colour but have now got used to it after 56 years and still no grey....yet!

I still get compliments on the colour and the one that sticks out in my mind. most is when  I was walking with my children, two of which are redheads too and this woman made a beeline for us and grabbed hold of me and said, in a very loud voice, three fergies, you've made my day. (Referring to Sarah Ferguson who is probably the most famous natural redhead I know). I t was all very alarming but still a compliment is a compliment.

Well, I have read some of the articles posted on this site and you all seem to be a very happy friendly bunch so I am only too happy to join you all.

Thank you all for your welcomes and comments.

Glad to hear there are some red heads out there.

We should think ourselves lucky, though it is a difficult colour to grow up with.

I mentioned in another posting that I often get compliments on my hair and I was out with friends for dinner last night and even my friend made a comment on how good it was looking!!! I felt proud because at 56 and am lucky not to have any grey hairs......... yet, but I am sure they will come.

I don't know what colour I will go as I age because there are no other red heads in my very large family except my father and he was partly bald and sadly died at 48 and hadn't lost much of the colour of his hair. Does anyone out there know what colour true red heads go in later life?

Hiya there Jules! Smiley

I'm from the UK too, and your hair sounds sooo very similar to mine! My hair has been described as being a gingery strawberry-blonde colour, and its incredibly thick, and waist length. I too need to use hair straightners to keep it in some form of order at times Wink
Good to have you on here!

Does anyone out there know what colour true red heads go in later life?
I read in a magazine that red-heads are suppossed to be lucky, because they never go grey...true red-heads go white. And from the red-heads I've seen, this is true! My Dad used to have very carrot-red hair, and he's mostly white now.
