Two weeks between wash?
Oct 7th, 2006 at 12:22pm

Okay, don't think I'm gross, but I went two weeks between washings.  Last time I did a SMT (Snowy's Moisture Treatment) which left my hair fabulous.  It got better every day!  The curls and waves were wonderful.  But today I knew I had to wash before it began to smell.

I did my usual CO condition only wash with VO5.  There was practically no shed.  It is down and dryilng now.  I feel like a witch!  It is so full of volume and wild.  I want my manageable waves back!

Two weeks between washings doesn't sound gross to me!  I've done that more than a couple of times -- usually because I just didn't feel like I had the time or energy to wash my hair.  I can sympathize on the wild and crazy hair aspect.  That's part of the reason why I only wash mine once a week at the most -- I want to be able to enjoy those few days a week where the natural oils in my hair actually tame it down! Cheesy

I've never made it 2 weeks but I have gone 10 days between washings and 7 -8 days is pretty typical for me, especially in the winter when things are so dry.

Sounds like you are ready for Halloween!  But if you want to tame it down a bit, a little oil will weight it back down again.

I separate out my washes between "real wahes" and "top washes" ( I think I got the top wash idea from snowy if memory serves, don't quote me on that) Since my hair is so oily, but dries out so quickly with washing, I'll do a full wash (CWC) with a leave in at the end, then in about three or four days I'll put it up in a bun and cover that with a shower cap so I can just wash the scalp, and do that once more in another three or four days, the next time I need a wash after that is when I start the cycle over again.

Actually, my hair wasn't greasy or even a tiny bit gross.  Last week, when I would normally have washed, it was looking so good, I decided not to.  Then it just kept on looking good... But I started to think that two weeks was too long so I COd yesterday.  After I got off line I put my hair in french braids on either side, then combined them at the nape of my neck into one braid, which I then bunned.  It looked quite sophisticated and I got a couple of compliments.  Today my hair is back to its nice self.  I did put a few drops of oil on it yesterday when I braided.

I think I'll do the SMT moisture treatment again next time I need to wash.  It keeps the frizzies down.  But my hair always seems to be better at least a day or so afterwards.  Thanks for the help everyone.

Glad you got things back under control.  I find it interesting that "today" people cringe at the thought of going 1 or 2 weeks without shampooing their hair when our ancestors would wash their hair once a month.  considering the environment they lived in compared to ours, we should be able to go MONTHS between washes!  (Of course that would assume that lots of hair products are not left in our hair.)

Wow, two weeks!!  Great job, Kathy!!

I was at once per week until summer came, and I'm trying to get back to it.  I'd love to be able to get to every two weeks.

Here is the tread from Longhaircommunity.com.  http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=14635&highlight=Snowy%27s+M...

Everyone tweeks it a bit for their own use.  I use about a cup of cheap VO5 conditioner, a couple of tablespoons of honey and aloe gel, then a few drops of oil.  I heat in the microwave about 30 seconds and put it on my hair.  Then sit with a shower cap for at least an hour before rinsing it out. It has not failed me yet!

WOW!  I can't go two weeks between washings-- my hair would take all night to untangle! The longest I can go is 4 or 5 days- after that it's just unmanageable.

To last that long between washes, I and my sister have to use a dry shampoo to keep the greasies at bay!   Wow, that moisture treatment must rock Cheesy

The longest I have gone without washing was two days.  However this does seem interesting I may try it next week.  I'll just have to remember to not put any product in it... product is the main reason i can't go more than two day makes my hair ew after that amount of time.
