So, I have a short moment for internet for the first time in days, and what do I do? Read my emails? Catch up with the news? Noo...I come here, because my hair journal is in need of an update. Wink Besides, tomorrow is my last day at work, and then I will once again have plenty of energy for going through all my emails and other potentially not-super-relaxing stuff.

Today, I had my first maintenance trim. I asked T to trim my hair to precisely waist length (when damp and combed straight), and he cut maybe 2 cm/ 3/4 in. The thought of "cutting my hair BACK to waist" felt very good, though I do miss those two, wispy and next-to-invisible ends. But, waist length is nice, and though it's not my ultimate goal, it's good to stay here for a moment and see, if trimming away my thinnest hairs will make my hair overall nicer. I can't shake the thought that that part of my hair is hair that I have grown before joining these boards...maybe that's why it hasn't lasted as well as the rest.
I've spent much of my time outdoors (meaning also at my free time), and as a result, I have the darkest tan of my life and a major bun boredom. The way my life has been, I have had to keep my hairtoys to minimum. Mostly it's been just buns with amish pins, hair net and some sort of headcovering. On Saturday I wore my new Quattro hairstick for a while, but that's all. Quattros are gorgeous things though, I'm so glad I got my hands on a pair!
On headcovering department, mini snoods and straw hats have been equally good choices, depending a bit on the weather. I swear, I WILL be wearing something gorgeous on Wednesday!

Job's over.  Grin I have a great tan, a little money, and a lot of things on my to-do list. But, today I will just rest (we are once again experiencing "greenhouse weather"), do some planning in order to ensure that my to-do list is as empty as possible when T's vacation starts, and work through my pile of emails. I'm quite excited: it seems that for the first time in Light knows how long, I will be able to keep a real vacation of a couple of weeks. No studies, no books to read, nothing to write or worry about...just rest.  Smiley

Hair: First chamomille buds are opening, and I am planning to harvest and dry my first chamomilles later this week. Then I can start experimenting with new hair rinses!
Today, my hair feels great: silky and shiny. It doesn't seem to have suffered of the work period at all- probably because I kept my head covered diligently. Just in case, I think I will do a hair mask after next wash. That can't hurt...
I'm feeling a bit allergic today in spite of medication, and so, today is destined to be (mostly) an indoors day. So, no headcovering, just a knot bun with a three tone brown Ficcare that coordinates so nicely with my brown dress. That doesn't sound very creative, I suppose, but trust me- it is creative after what I have been doing while at work.  Cheesy

And today, I have a flu. Not bad, and certainly not a surprise considering how many hours I have spent dripping wet lately. The downsides of having to work outdoors... But, I can afford a little "sick leave" now. I still have lots of emails to sort out, my cross stitch project and a couple of Stargate ep:s on DVD for the evening, so it's really not bad. Not bad at all.
Yesterday evening, I took a long shower, washed my hair and did a hair mask. My hair doesn't feel that different today, but mentally I feel great- I was really in need of a little pampering. I would have done a proper SMT treatment, even, but I'm running low on aloe vera gel. It isn't sold anywhere in our village, so I will have to buy at least two bottles next time I visit Helsinki.

Thanks for well wishes everyone! Smiley

roomtogrow: I have a couple of recipes for homemade treatments that I do when I have time. Nowadays, however, I seldom have the time and use a commercial cone free product. Currently I'm using L'Oreal ElVital's mask for long hair.

Well, I still have the flu. Or it came back- whatever. I felt better for the weekend. We were very busy with visitors coming, and T had the flu. This morning, he felt better and I felt worse...again... but it's ok. After a busy weekend a quiet day is welcome. Besides, it's pouring cats and dogs outside so it's not like I'd stick my nose out there anyway. Nope, I'll stay comfortably indoors, start writing my essay, complete a certain product review for LHC...only nice and quiet things.

Ears: I'm still in love with my Nine earrings. They're awesome!
I decided to cheer myself up a little and ordered two pairs of plugs from steelnavel.com. Gorilla Glass plugs, single flare, in purple and in honey. Can't wait for them to arrive! In general, I don't like plugs as much as spirals, but they have one big advantage: they come in colors, and on some days, you just got to have something colorful to wear in an ear. In 10g, there isn't much colorful jewelry available. Stretching even to 8g would take care of that, but I have decided against it- I love my 10g Little Seven earrings too much and know that in 8g they'd look too massive for my taste.
Achieving the perfect size isn't easy- the jewelry available for each size is different, and looks of a given design change dramatically when gauges change. I can understand why some people just keep on stretching. Often with gorgeous results, I might add.
Oh yes, in case you were wondering: I'm still not wearing anything in my left ear. Matching regular earrings with spirals and other cool stuff would be too much trouble, and I'm still not tempted to stretch.

Hair: My hair doesn't feel short, but when it's down, it LOOKS short. It's always been the other way around. In any case...it will grow. It's not like anyone's forcing me to trim another cm precisely after a month.
I have harvested and dried the first chamomilles. I think I will make an infusion of them, and use that as a base for my ACV rinse. At least, they smell very nice. I thought I didn't like the smell of chamomille that much, but my chamomilles have a very nice light, fresh scent.

I'm working on it, joeydog. But my stomach is feeling queasy and my throat is still a little sore. There are ominous clouds in the sky. House is clean, even the Laundry Mountain has been conquered. There are no new job ads to check. I am starting to run out of excuses for not starting to work seriously with the Essay.
What's good for the soul isn't always good for the mood. Ok, I admit I'll probably start liking the essay somewhere in the middle of it, and by the time I've finished I know I'll feel positively proud of myself.

At least, that's what I hope. I'm not going to write a word about the alternative anyway.

Today, I'm wearing a blue dress/apron, a bun held with a black Ficcare and a blue plug in my ear. Seriously, last night I dreamed of having bigger ears (notice the plural!), and wearing colorful glass jewelry in them. To soothe my mind, I decided that if I ever get bored wearing spirals, I will stretch my other ear, then stretch both my ears just a little bit bigger and indulge. I hope the plugs I ordered will arrive soon. At least they have been shipped already- quick work from Steelnavel! I'm sure they'll be perfect.
Yes, I'm not feeling well, but still, I think it's important not to wander around in pajama and my goofy yellow fake fur slippers during the daytime. It's impossible to be sharp or accomplish anything in jammies. So, ever since I started working at home (that would be some three years ago, when I quit my part-time job as a DEO), I have made it a point to dress up every day. Nothing big: just a clean and neat dress, a bun and my everyday jewelry. I can't tell exactly how it makes the difference. But it does.

I miss make up. Well, truth to be told, I have never used lots of make up. I've always liked shopping make up far better than using it. When I lived in the City, I did use something on most days when going out. Here, on most days make up would just be unpractical. And I think that make up looks somehow silly with my simple dresses. Somehow they are too simple for make up.
Obviously, Universe had better send some special occassion to my way.  Cheesy For example, a grant announciation ceremony would be nice.

Funny you should bring up make up.  I am procrastinating about putting some on right now.  I haven't had to wear it for months with a couple of exceptions, but I am going in to work for a few hours today and have to start getting make up on, etc.

Sorry to hear you are STILL not well.  I hope things clear up soon.

I'm feeling ok again.  Cheesy

I was good yesterday:
-visited Helsinki and bought two bottles of aloe vera gel from there. One bottle for styling and one for mixing my Snowytreatments. Cheesy
-also bought some vitamin E face mist from Body Shop. The one and only face product I actually like. In these days, I don't usually even bother to use daycream. My skin feels perfectly happy without. If it ain't broke, don't fix it...
-washed my hair in the evening, even though it wasn't hideous. It was my first try of CV's Babassu & Marshmallow shampoo bar. So far so good, I think it *might* be a bit heavy in the long run, but right now my hair seems to like it.
-measured my ponytail circumference. Haven't done that for a while. I measured three times, and got pretty exact 7.5 cm/3 in each time. So, in my nape things are perfectly mid-ii, which is a very nice result for a hair as fine as mine.

Obviously, there's no way I can accomplish as much today. Today is again another bun it, Ficcare it and forget it day that I mostly spend working with my essay and housework.

Hi Galadriel,
I've been using CV's Babbasu and Marshmallow shampoo bar for a good while and my hair is ok with it too.  I store all shampoo bars in the freezer in a ziplock bag individually.  I figure I have about 2 years worth of shampoo bars in there.  Ya think I went alittle overboard???!! Roll Eyes
I found that Prairieland Shampoo bars have excellent lather though.
Have you seen the new Oilive Oil Babbasu and Marshmallow shampoo bar little write up on CV's website yet?  Sounds like a more moisturizing one to me.
