Thanks for the compliment! Smiley
Yes, I have made the dress & apron myself. If you have seen one of them, you have seen them all  Wink . All the dresses I have made so far are similar except for color. My pattern offers lots of options, but so far I have felt that this style is just perfect.

That's nice to hear  Smiley .

We have invited a friend couple to barbecue here, so not much time to write. But, here is just a little ear update!

Ears: My ears didn't feel strange in any way, so I couldn't resist fiddling a bit more with my left ear last night. Result: successful stretch to 10g. Cheesy I know that was faster than recommended, but so far my ear feels ok. A bit tender, but nothing I haven't felt before with a normally scheduled stretch. I'm now admiring purple 10g plugs that I wear as a matched pair. They're really classy looking- even T liked the look.
I'm happy to stay in 10g a bit longer -no hurry to 8g. Most of my jewelry is in 10g, including two gorgeous pairs of glass plugs. And when I gauge up to 8g, I need money for a big order. Or two. I'm glad I'm going to qualify for BAF's 10% off of every purchase discount very soon now. Cheesy
I know I've said this before, but I don't see myself going beyond 8g. 8g is the final gauge where lots of new kind of jewelry becomes available. The next "big change" is around 0g- that's where some seriously gorgeous plugs lie. But anything but plugs becomes really (too) massive in bigger gauges, so I'm not tempted. I can see why many people choose the plug route, but I don't think I can give up spirals and other hanging designs.

Apparently, computer ate my previous post the day before yesterday. Don't remember what it said though- probably nothing important.

...

Anyway, here's a picture of a sunflower in our garden. It's our first sunflower this year, because we sowed them so late. Our neighbors have had sunflowers flowering for weeks now. But good things are worth a little wait.
Our weekend was nice, and we spent lots of time in the garden, both before and after the sunset. At this time of the year, our garden feels truly paradisial: colorful butterflies and flowers in the daytime, and the Milky Way stretching above us in the nighttime. Everywhere is the scent of fresh apples. They are not good to eat this year, but the scent is still lovely.
I've started working with my various projects, grant applications and such again. It's insane to think that I'm looking for a job ON TOP OF THAT. I have no idea how I will survive alive if I actually find a job. But...money would be nice.

Hair& Ear: Left ear caused me a little trouble during the weekend, but is better now. Guess it might have been wise to stay a week or so in 12g after all. Though I still love how my little purple glass plugs look when worn in a matching pair. Beautiful!
I realized it's been months since I last visited the LL shop pages. On my last visit, everything was always sold out, and I finally decided to give up for a while. I was happy to see the shop looking more normal now. There have been changes, but the most important thing- gorgeous hair jewelry- is still there so I'm all happy. I wish I could justify myself buying a pair or two, but then...I haven't even tried on all the sticks I got from the Great Swap.  Roll Eyes I guess my life isn't that hairstick friendly in these days. But who knows when that will change?

This morning we had a huge thunderstorm- I don't remember the last time I've seen such a storm. Lightning was striking everywhere, and though I'm not usually scared of thunder, this was a bit scary. Turned out that I wasn't a big coward- I found out that the officials had issued a warning that advised people to stay indoors. News has it, that the capital region had it even worse than we did. I'm glad I wasn't there.
I don't remember when such a warning has been given because of thunder. More is supposed to come late this evening, but odds are, that it will be more normal thunder.

I should mention that I've started to crochet a nice warm shawl for myself out of the yarn I received in last year's LL Christmas swap. The yarn looked perfect for a shawl from the moment I first saw it, but didn't have a good pattern. Today I finally decided to just start crocheting. I'm keeping it simple, as I thought that would be best to show off the gorgeousness of the special effect yarn. I'll post a pic when I'm done.
I also feel the urge to crochet and knit other stuff once I'm finished- a sure sign that fall is coming. The wedding record will remain a first priority until I'm done with it though, but once I'm done with it...

Hair: I'm doing a bit more hairtoy swapping: I have found new homes for the last two of my swappable (is that a word?) Ficcares. I must say again: having a bit less money at my disposal has done wonders for my hairtoy collections. I don't have any longer expensive toys I'm not 100% satisfied with lying around- just loveliness upon awesomeness.
It's a shame that I'm not wearing my hairtoys much...but the day will come, and then I have the perfect collection at my disposal. On the other hand...the weather is today decidedly bad, so I don't think I'll go outdoors...which means that I could just go and change my hairstyle to something fancy...

Gotta go.  Cool

Nothing big this time Cheesy, but I'll keep you in mind as I sort out my hairtoy cave.  Smiley

Today, just some pictures. I think I've subconsciously decided that fall is in the air- otherwise I can't explain all this:

...

A fall hairstyle: ponytail (braid waves). It's a fall style because most of my ribbons come in warm lovely fall colors and textures- this one is a teal brocade ribbon.

...

Here's the shawl I knit from the yarn Trisha gave me in Secret Santa exchange last Christmas. It took just one night to make- the special effect yarn was gorgeous with simple pattern. It's toasty warm and so pretty. Thanks once again, Trisha!

...

Here's the front view. This fall, my style reminds me of my online friends. The knitted purse is a gift from Songofsunlight. I wore this whole outfit today when I was shopping more yarn and craft stuff. I decided that I need another shawl, and bought violet alpaca yarn for it.

It is very nice to work with, either crochet or knit.

Lovely shawl!  I too do a lot of knitting with alpaca - I love it!  It doesn't have the same stretch as sheep's wool, so I don't use it for socks, but it makes great hats, mittens, and scarves.

Aww, what a beautiful shawl you created!  I was thinking that colour would compliment your skin and hair tones.  Yay!   Smiley

I love the shawl!!

BTW, I don't remember you answering me about the quantity of baking soda to water for using baking soda as a fabric softener.  I bought 1lb of baking soda today (I use it for many other things too) so I would like to know for my washing this weekend!!!

Thanks for your kind words, everyone!  Smiley

joeydog: It's vinegar I use as fabric softener, not baking soda. My laundry machine has a mark for maximum amount of fabric softener, and I pour vinegar up to that mark. It's quite a lot more than I use my regular concentrated softener, but I haven't seen any harm.

Turned out that I knit the shawl just right on time. I have had slightly sore throat for the whole week, but on Thursday evening it got worse, and I woke up on Friday feverish and with a real flu. I had to skip the only meeting I had had in months. To make matters worse, T left to California very early on Saturday. I made myself as comfortable as I could and rested efficiently, and am now feeling better. Not totally ok, but much better. In any case, since the flu was coming, it was better to get it out of the way before leaving to Germany (not many days now!!!). I've now received more information from Dr. L . The place I'm going to seems very nice and reasonably small, which is also nice in case I have to move in there. Now, I just hope that I could remember even some basic things in German. I've studied German for a couple of years, but have forgotten pretty much everything except what is needed to translate Rammstein's lyrics. Ok, not going there. Or to König's comics which are the other German thing I like. Lips Sealed What can I say. My ideas of what is good pop culture are not what my mother taught me. Guess I better visit the attic and see if any of my old textbooks have survived.

Crafts: I've started knitting the new shawl. The pattern is beautiful, but quite difficult and requires concentrating, so it's probably not a good idea to take it to the plane.
I asked T to bring me broadcloth for a new dress or two- I hope he will manage to find a fabric store. I need new dresses for the fall, and it'd be a big help if I didn't have to order all my fabrics online.
Besides these, I have more craft projects needing to be done that I am probably able to make. On top of everything, it looks like getting our new printer (that I need, among other things, in order to print my e- flight tickets) in working order is so complicated that it should be counted as a craft project.

Hair/Ears: Hair is happy and well. My goal is to survive the trip without washing it. Shouldn't be a big feat since it's just one night. How hard the days will be, depends much of the weather. At the moment it's rainy and cool, fall-cool to be exact, so I may have luck with that.
Left ear is also finally really well. I changed my glass plugs to honey ones, but have not tried other jewelry. Not that I'm tempted- left ear is my plug ear. I'm not going to start wearing anything bigger in pairs.

Last night

00.00 go to bed. It's late but since I can't sleep well alone, I have stayed up long.
01.30 sleep. Finally.
05.30 Wake up to a loud crash downstair.
05.35 Go to downstairs. Find that rabbit's fencing has been torn down. Count one rabbit (Lumi) missing and nowhere to be seen. Realize that it's cold downstairs, so go back up and quickly fetch a cardigan.
05.45 Come back downstairs, only to discover that also Pyry has woken up and run away. Catch Pyry and repair the fencing. Lumi is still nowhere to be seen. Search the kitchen. Then living room. Hall. Porch. Bathroom. Sauna. Crawl on the floor in order to check all the imaginable spaces where a crazy rabbit could crawl. Still no sign of Lumi. Pyry realizes that he is alone and gets panicked. Repair the fencing again while talking soothingly to Pyry. Search the whole downstairs once again, this time slightly worried.
06.10 Find Lumi from under the freeze. Wonder for a split second how on Earth has she managed to squeeze herself there, then realize that there are electric cords and other dangerous stuff. Unplug the freezer. Start chasing the rabbit. Restart the freezer and enhance the supposedly rabbit proof barricade around it.
06.15 Rabbit escapes from the kitchen and runs to sauna. Guess how fun she's to chase there.
06.20 Catch the rabbit. Preach her about how good a glove she would make and toss her into the pen. Rabbit hops right back out, sayin "U can't force me to be here, nyah nyah nyah". Toss her back. This time she sees Pyry and is contented to stay. Yelling probably helps to drive the message in. Go back to bed.
06.55 After some five or ten precious minutes of peaceful sleep, wake up to alarming crash from downstairs. Find that Lumi has escaped again. Chase the rabbit around kitchen and porch. Catch an annoyed rabbit from porch, put her back to pen. Go back to bed.
07.20 Wake up again. No crash, but suspicious sounding soft hopping. The idiot rabbit thinks I can't hear her just because I don't have long ears. Go prove Lumi otherwise. After all, in 20 years of keeping rabbits I have developed ears very sensitive to badly behaving bunnies. Watch her like a hawk for a while, trying to glare her badly enough that soon she would prefer a hawk for company.
07.45 Situation peaceful. At least, crazy gleam has disappeared from Lumi's eyes.  I decide I can't go back to sleeping and decide to officially get up.
09.00 Rabbits go to sleep for the daytime. After all, they are twilight animals.

It's 4 pm when I'm writing this, and I'm dreadfully tired- it's not like I have had a good night's sleep since T left to the conference. I'm waiting for bedtime, since I can't mess my daily routine so close to the trip. I've done some cleaning and packing, but have rescheduled a ton of work for tomorrow and for Wednesday just because my brain is just a big bowl of porridge today.

Looking for a restful trip, and a night in hotel knowing that certain two rabbits are in Finland with my mother watching them.

I'll have to get her something really nice for agreeing to come.

Then T wonders why I don't want us to have a baby.

man oh man, that Lumi is one to be watched!!!  Yes,you do get to be very sensitive to "rabbit things" when you have owned them.  You know when there's alot of noise or too little noise, something is up!!!  Glad she probably thought better of  becoming a glove and stayed put in the cage!!!
