Christmas present shopping done! We didn't find anything nice for me from real stores, so T bought me a Ficcare clip instead. Golden pearl beak clip from the new fall collection. It won't get here before Christmas but we agreed that it's better to have something I really like late than something less nice from RL. Besides, it looks like T too will get his presents more or less late. My sewing projects are late and I expect his online gift will take some time to arrive too. That's life!

Hair: Doing well. Right now in a knot bun with a brown Ficcare beak. A very elegant knot bun- it looks almost too pretty for cleaning the house. It's a bun that would deserve to go out and be admired by everyone.

I still don't have a working photoshop/paintshop on the computer. That's probably the most blah thing in my hair life right now- I'd love to share some pics with you. I hope we'll have time to continue searching for a solution during the holidays.

Hair today: French braid. I haven't worn French braid as a day style for a looong while, so it took me three tries to produce a good-looking one. Now I have a rather long tail besides the French part. A long, thin tail. I do like how intricate braid it makes, but somehow I'm still self conscious about its thinness. I never meant to have a thin braid, after all. That was not part of my hair growing plan. But, there it is and I'm (once again) being silly. At least I have a braid. And it is a nice braid made of nice hair, and complaining about it is not going to make it any nicer. I need to spend a moment or two thinking about the famine in Africa, climate change and other real problems of the world. No amount of hair perfection will make any difference, but using my time more productively than whining about my hair might.

Just saying this to myself because I think I needed that little preach.

Now I need to continue Christmas cleaning of upstairs, take a peek outside where we finally seem to have a cloudless, bright night sky that calls for an observer, and finish the evening at a hot sauna.

A promise to self: During Christmas Holiday (starting on 24th, since we are busy with preparations all tomorrow as well), I will wear something nice in my hair everyday, for some time at least. Hairsticks, some other style than my everyday bun etc.

Christmas is almost over and I am ...relieved. This year, our Christmas wasn't quite as fun as some have been. We were tired, and had lots to do. Only this evening after my mother left, could I relax, breathe deep the scent of hyacinths and gingerbread biscuits and relax. I feel the best part is still to come: the house is clean, refridgerator is full of food and we have very little to do until the New Year. We will do very little until the New Year.

Hair: I have remembered my promise of varying my styles during the holidays. This is what I have done so far.
24th We were visiting relatives all day: knot bun with white Ficcare Primavera beak that matched my outfit perfectly.
25th Dutch braid with pink Ficcare beak. Didn't turn out very well.
Today: Braided bun with Ficcare Max (first green, then changed to tigereye).
So, I've been heavily leaning on Ficcares. But the styles have been different from my standard 'do, so it's a good start.

Crafts: Finished my ink blue cardigan. It fits perfectly. I'm happy! I wasn't sure how it would fit since it's been so long since I've knit a sweater or a cardigan for myself.
This fall, I've knitted A LOT. Much more than I remember knitting previous years:
big projects: a cardigan for myself, a sweater for T, alpaca lace shawl
small stuff: two hats, three scarves, leg warmers, socks for T, crocheted shawl (it's big but the yarn was quick to crochet)

I think I will knit myself one more pair of socks, and then I'll put my knitting needles to rest for a while. Well, a couple of small projects might not count... But I have my gorgeous cross stitch projects waiting, and look forward to spend some quality time with them.
Sewing-wise, things are calming down a little. I want to start working with pajamas ASAP, but otherwise, I'm not in a big hurry with anything. I have fabric for the long winter robe, but it can wait for a moment of inspiration to arrive. Nor do I need anything else badly for the foreseeable future (including even spring!). I think I finally have sewn most of the stuff I really need for a basic wardrobe, and can relax with sewing. Maintaining a wardrobe will be much easier and much less work than creating one. I suppose it is a milestone of a sort.

New Year's Eve.

Hair: I did a deep treatment the last time I was in sauna. I don't remember when the last time was, but the treatment didn't make my hair feel much different.
I have still done new styles every day: 27th octopus clip bun. I used my cutest octopus clip, black with tiny painted flowers
28th Bikerbraid bun with Ficcarissimo. Didn't turn out that well.
29th bun with beautiful Longlocks Sugarstix. Finally!
30th knot bun with Amish pins. Plain, but it was a different style!
Today: started with an artistically wrapped scarf, changed to a bun with Ficcare beak clip after the post arrived and bought T's Christmas present. Cheesy The gold pearl beak is gorgeous. Surprisingly, it also blends with my hair quite nicely.
I think I will make it a new year's promise to wear at least three different styles each week. Most of the styles I have worn dring the past days have been quick and easy, and I've had fun.

Finally, the big news. I'm going to move my journal to LHC side, for a while at least. I have been way too little around these boards in general as all my LL time goes to updating this journal. I want to be more out and around in the future. On LHC side, I'm not at the moment very active at all. We'll see how it goes.
Thanks for everyone who has visited here! Kiss
