Hi Everyone!
I just wanted to introduce myself.  I just have to say I love this message board.  You can really lose yourself here for awhile, and when you finally find yourself again it most likely will be with a new found passion for long hair.  All of this started for me back in October.  It was a normal day just like any other.  Except on this day I decided to search for new hair accessories.  One of the sites I chose to explore was LongLocks.  I could not believe how gorgeous these sticks were, and I new I was on to something good because everything was SOLD!!  So everyday I would check out the site until it finally became clear that I needed a pair.  Finally one day I purchased my first pair.  I was so excited, and that excitment doubled when I opened up the mailbox to see that they had arrived.  I could not get the tube opened fast enough ( I mean literally I could not get it open- those staples just would not budge).  Finally I freed them.  They were even better in person.  Now the only trick was getting them in my hair.  Yes I have to admit up until that point I never wore hairsticks!!!  I new this was a potential problem , but they were too beautiful so I overlooked this tiny issue.  Thankfully I no longer have this problem and I am the proud owner of a gorgeous collection of hairsticks that continues to grow and grow and grow!  Now I guess that I got that out of my system I should tell you a little about my hair.  I have naturally dark brown hair, but it is currently dyed a reddish auburn.  It is shoulder length with long layers, and is slightly wavy.  My hair is not thick, nor is it very fine.  I guess I am more in between.  My goal is to grow it waist length, and I would like it too be all one length.  Which leads me to my dillema.  First I would like to say that my shortest layer is to my chin.  I figure I can do one of two things 1)  Wait till my shortest layer grows to my shoulders and then get it cut all one length.  This way it will still feel long to me, or 2) I can get it cut one length now and let it grow from chin.  I am really torn and not sure what to do.  I have had a great time these past few months reading everything on this site, and I look forward to hearing your opinions.  Thanks for listening or should I say reading.  I am really happy to be here.

Welcome!  and congrats on starting your LL HairSticks collection.  I too have struggled with those pesky staples - there is nothing worse than having a silly staple keeping you from your lovely stick!  Grin

Deciding whether to cut now or later is always a tough one.  I usually recommend not cutting your hair any shorter than what you can put in a ponytail.  Once you can make a pony tail with all your hair, then you can start trimming the layers to maintain your ponytail.

Good luck on your hair journey.  I look forward to getting to know you better.   Smiley

Greetings and welcome, zachsmom.  Smiley

Congrats on scoring your very own LL Hairstix! You are one lucky gal!
I've already resigned myself to the idea that if I ever want a pair, I'll have to make a custom order - they get bought up so quickly!  Roll Eyes

As far as growing out the layers, I'm trying to think back æons ago when I kind of had them. I think I would suggest sort of a happy medium - shortening the length and allowing the shorter layers to grow out. That way there will be less of a difference in all of the lengths.
I do recommend getting regular trims as your hair grows out so split ends don't have a chance to start.

Anyway, enjoy the stix and have fun growing to great lengths. See you 'round.

Welcome to LL, zachsmom!  I hope you'll post some pictures of you wearing your hairsticks...
As for the layers, it is a tough decision.  I vote for growing them out to shoulders and then trim up.  It may turn out to be a blessing that you have the layers now with your wave-textured hair has a tendency to "pyramid" in the east-west direction at the top of shoulders length.

Hang in there-and once you decide, wait 2 weeks and see if you still want to follow though.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I decided to cut my hair all one length now  instead of waiting ( I think it was a combination of impatience and excitement).  I really did appreciate everyones opinions and thoughts on the subject.  You all gave me a lot to think about...so thanks.  I got it cut the other day and it feels great.  Nice and healthy.  When I thought about it I figured it would just be better to do it and start fresh.  Now I can sit back and watch it grow.  I love having it all one length since it has not been that way for a while.  My hair has always grown fairly quick, but then again I never really thought about it like I am now so I expect it to seem like forever.  But I know this site will help keep me motivated, along with all of Susan's beautiful sticks.   It is going to be a fun ride.  I am now starting out at 141/4 inches.  Let the growing begin!!Smiley

Good for you, Zachsmom!  I know its not the easiest decision, especially when you're just starting to commit to long & healthy hair.  Well done.  Grin
