good things take time....aarrggh!
Apr 1st, 2007 at 5:40pm

Hey all,
As I've been reflecting on my hair journey (which as most of you know from my hair journal, has been continually thwarted by impulsive pixie cuts) is troubled by my own impatience...I've realized good things really do take time.  I know this is often a cliche' statement, but it didn't really start to sink in until now. This is true about more than just my hair, as I've just finished a master's program in teaching and have been teaching this past year in a few non-permanent positions. I've tried to stay positive and upbeat in these different roles as I fill in for teachers on leave, but I really still want my own classroom for next year.

Teaching is a new field for me, and I've only been studying to be a teacher and actually teaching for two and a half years now. As I now am job searching for my own classroom for next year, I keep realizing it can be a long, slow process to break into a new career and get the job that fits me. And to grow my hair out. *Sigh*. Why do I have to learn all my lessons at once? Patience with myself and with the process is what I need to focus on now, and I know it will be good for me in the long run. I'll be a long-haired, full-time teacher with much more hard-won patience than I currently have.
Does anyone else get these "thematic" life lessons?  Tongue

I'm sure you are not alone in your thinking.  Patience is such a virtue in so many areas - hair, careers, relationships, finances.  Everything good is worth waiting for.

Hair growing takes time, but it's been so worth it to me. For me, my journey towards long hair has been (and still is) much like a hobby. It feels great when my hair finally has some length (barely waistlength now), but the biggest joy is in the journey.

I'm hunting a job right now too. I spent last year as a researcher on grant, but now my grant has ended and plan B needs to kick in. It's harder than I thought since I'm now living in a small community where jobs are few and positions that would require high education are totally nonexistent. In these days, one is very lucky to get a good career going, and it seldom happens easily. But, I'm sure that we'll both find what we want- maybe not right away, but soon enough.  Smiley
