Today of all days I decided to stop putting off doing my roots with henna and indigo.  I had prepared the henna last week, but was having MS symptoms flare-ups so I froze it.
Today I defrosted it and prepared the indigo.  I figured I had in total 150-175 grams.  I kept it on for 3 1/2 hours before taking a shower.  I used half a bottle of VO5 Strawberries and Cream conditioner to help get all the mix out of my hair, washed with Coconut shampoo and conditioned again with VO5.  All in all it took about an hour in the shower to get everything out.  Needless to say I was tired.  I put some Coconut conditioner in as a leave in and left my hair alone.
It's curling nicely, but the coverage is not as good as I had hoped. Sad  I pretty much was heavy handed with the mixture was root to tip,but maybe next time I'll try to leave it on for 4-6 hours.
Now the oxidation will happen over the next two days so we'll see what happens.  At least I won't have to worry about doing it before I go to S.C. to visit my mother.
Back to crocheting and sewing!!

Hooray for henndigo! From what I've heard, that stuff is TOUGH to get out. Most of what I've read involves a giant tub of water or a hose in the back yard. Does the henna stain your bathroom at all?

Hope you get the color you were aiming for! Pictures would be lovely.  Wink

Surprisingly,it doesn't stain the tub.  Probably because I'm diligent about it not sitting there.  I continue to rinse the tub to get all the Mess,er I mean henna and indigo down the drain!  When I do a full job I use 500 grams of henna and indigo!  There's so much it seems to never end!
I also newspaper everything around me to catch any splatters and/or drips.  The floor, the sink everywhere gets covered with paper.  That really helps alot.
I'd love to post pics except my computer is on safe mode and I can't post anything. Sad Angry  Hubby and I will be replacing his computer with a new one shortly so then I can post pics of my haircolor coverage with henna and indigo,my sewing and crochet adventures, aka projects!  Stay tuned!!!

So the henna indigo thing is best done if you have a tub...

I've always wondered how much henna and indigo you'd need for really long hair if I ever decide to go that way in the future.  Thanks.

You're welcome!
The site I follow for use is www.mehandi.com ; They give guideline for length of hair versus how much henna to use.  Snoop around sit back with a cup of tea or coffee!

Mehandi.com is really cool! I love the section that show-cases all the different colors people have gotten, and what recipes they use to get to their color.

If I decide to change my mind about going silver, I'd probably use JessicaL's mix.  Smiley

I think that's what caught me a few years ago on that site!  All the mixes, before and after pics.
I think if the prep work, application of it all and the duration of the mixture sitting on my head weren't so long I'd probably want to do this every month!  I tell ya, 500 grams of this sitting on your head for 3-5 hours is no joke!!  It's really heavy! Cheesy

I have to admit it's all the prepping and where the heck I'd actually do this, that's putting me off for now.

Since you have little ones that would want to be up under your feet to see what's going on and I have a husband that wants to help all the time and be next to me......I suggest if you don't want "help" or curious little peeps in the area that they might get henna on them....I'd lock the bathroom door or do it when they are in school!  Works for me!
