No more  salons!
Aug 1st, 2007 at 9:59pm

Hello,

I've been reading this forum for about a month now.  I had long hair until I was 22.  I got a very short cut and loved it.  Then I was trapped in the cycle of going to salons to keep it looking decent. My husband and I decided to grow our hair long so we can stick to trimming each others hair and save the time and money spent at the salon.  Besides...its fun having long hair.

His hair (beautiful, curly, and red...I'm so jealous) is now just past his shoulders. ( He stopped cutting a while ago.)  My hair (very thin and fine) is now just past my ears in the front and to the top of my neck in the back.  I think my VERY awkward phase is just about over.

I've learned a lot from this site already!  Smiley

Welcome, Josiegirl!  How fun the two of you growing your hair out together!

Hubby's hair sounds gorgeous!  You didn't say what your haircolor is.

I hope you'll find lots of good info and of course lots of support here on the boards.

Welcome aboard, Josiegirl.  Smiley

Have patience and be encouraged. With proper care, you'll have great long hair again.
I also have fine, thin hair and have had to grow it out from scratch after a tragic colouring incident.  Tongue  It can be done, just hang in there.

Happy growing!

Thanks all,

Yes, Sakina.  My husbands hair is gorgeous.  I'll try to post a photo eventually of both of our progress.

My hair is naturally light brown and gets dark blondish highlights.  I (regretfully) lightened my hair a few months ago to a dark blonde.  I don't mind the color. It's not too drastic of a color change.  My hair doesn't seem too damaged, but I know it's not starting out as healthy as it could.  My plan is to let my natural color grow out.

josiegirl, your hair sounds like a similar length to when i started growing mine out from a very short cut. best of luck to you. you can do it! just don't get sucked into conversations of you with short hair, because that has always been a temptation for me. instead i say "yes, that was cute, but i'm really going for something different and classic now." or maybe you are more disciplined already than i was at the beginning.  Grin i do feel now that i'm past that "danger" zone of cutting it off again, but it can be a slow process to grow out from very short.  slow but good.
