Deep Conditioning
Aug 4th, 2007 at 12:55pm

Any suggestions on how to go about deep conditioning?  Should I use a rinse-out conditioner and sleep over night and rinse in the morning?

My hair is baby fine and breaks off easily if I don't keep the dead ends trimmed. Any suggestions on what kind of conditioner I should use?  (I also started using a hot oil treatment every week or so)

Thanks! Smiley

Hey, Jess, my hair is not like yours, so my suggestion is just a thought...I would wait and see how a few months of regular hot oil treatments go.  In the meantime doing research on products that are either lightweight but moisturizing or especially made for your hairtype.

Good Luck!!

I do have your hair type...probably to a pretty extreme degree.
But I do deep conditioning treatments at least once a week. More often if I can find the time. I experiment with different treatments and even make up my own on occasion.

For the past few weeks, I've been using Pantene's Nourishing moisture replenishing mask and I absolutely love it. Texture-wise, it's like plasmatic silk and definitely makes my hair feel like silk.

The recipe that I make myself is:
1 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp. pure aloe vera gel
1 tsp. honey
4 tsp. any deep conditioner

I leave all treatments in for at least an hour under a shower cap before rinsing them out.
Hope that helps a bit.  Smiley

Warm oil treatments and/or a treatment like Angel Spun's should help your hair.  Keep in mind that all hair is dead.  If it has been severely damaged, you may not be able to restore it and trimming may be the best solution.  However, if your hair is just dry or coated, you can correct that.  Start with a clarifying wash or at a minimum a vinegar rinse after shampooing.  Then give yourself a good deep conditioning or warm oil treatment for 30 minutes or longer.  Regular oiling with a light oil like jojoba oil can help keep the hair moisturized and flexible.

Thanks guys!  I recently got my hair trimmed to get all the split ends off, so hopefully these hot oil treatments will help keep moisture in. I believe I have noticed a change in texture within the last few weeks. I've been extremely careful with my hair.

I bought an Aloe Hot Oil, today which I'm going to try, and JoJoBa hot oil treatment like you suggested. I can't wait to try!

Thanks for the suggestions Smiley

Who makes the purest/organic form of jojoba oil, if anyone knows?

I don't know who makes the purest/organic jojoba oil, sorry Cry However I use Aura Cacia.

Here's what  I use for deep conditoning:...

tsp. Jojoba oil
3 drops emu oil
3 drop camillia oil

Put in a base of:

home made Amla oil.

This is the recepie for the amla oil by vatika girl from LHC.

500 ml of coconut oil
100 ml of sweet almond oil
50 ml of EVOO
50 to 100 gms of amla powder.
Few rose petals...(i take about petals of 3 roses)

now take coconut oil in a pan and add rose petal & amla powder. Let this mixture stand overnight .....next day heat this mixture till it becomes bubbly and then let it stand for another 24 hours.

now take a muslin cloth(any other fine fabric can do too) and drain this mixture into a container.... now add almond oil and EVOO and thats it......ur own homemade FANTASTIC hair oil.

this is an indian recipe ....... which my mom made for us to apply overnight.

give it a try .....its worth
vatika girl.

I made this and its great!  ...
