Wednesday 16 July 2008
Hair:  No wash day; hair is up in a ponytail.  Still loving the Breakage Defense products.

Other:  Filling in for the secretary again today, whose mother is having sugery.  Haven't been doing much, except doing some online window shopping.   Smiley  I sold back some vacation hours and that extra money will show up on Friday's pay.  Yay!  I am in serious need of some dress clothes, specifically tops.  I want long sleeves since they can do double duty; warmth in the winter and sun protection in the summer.  I already have my eye on some blouses at www.blair.com ;  Roll Eyes

Friday 18 July 2008
Hair:  No wash day; hair is in a bun.

Other:  Yesterday I got the results of my CA-125 test.  I scored -- drum roll, please...  a 7.3, which is wonderfully normal.   Cool  Normal is considered to be 30 or less.  This is one test where you WANT a low score!   Grin

No big plans for the weekend, as usual.  *sigh*  I'm not one to complain, but I get so tired of being poor.  And yet I know darned good and well that I'm better off than some people.

Monday 21 July 2008
Hair:Washed and did a vinegar rinse on Saturday morning.  Hours later, after hair had air dried, I got a wild urge for curls.  So I dusted off my curling iron (literally dusted it off!) and commenced to curling.  The curls looked nice, but that was just way too much work.  I flashed back to several years ago, when my hair was short.  Every day I would wash my hair, use the blow fryer and curling iron.  EVERY morning!  I thought, "How on earth did I stand that?!"   Grin  At least now I know better.

Other:  I'm in a girly-girl mood today, so I took the time to apply mascara and lipstick.   Shocked  I have beady little eyes and, as much as I hate to admit it, the black mascara does make my blue eye color pop.  I purchased two lipsticks over the weekend; N.Y.C. (New York color) brand, Berry Rich and Blue Rose.  Today is a Berry Rich day.   Smiley  No foundation, powder, or blush--my skin feels suffocated when I wear that stuff.

I ordered two blouses from Blair this morning, both on sale.  Shipping should take 7-10 business days.  Both are long sleeved, as I wanted; one is white and the other is called "Lotus".  --I call it a pale dusty rose.

I remember those days too.  I used to take 1 hour to hot curl my hair every morning.  Damage aside, I couldn't even think about doing that nowadays.  I could think of much better ways to spend my time. Wink

Hair:  No wash day; hair is up in a ponytail.

Other:  Another girly-girl day, with mascara and lipstick (blue rose), a dress, stockings, and low heeled pumps.  Yowzah!   Wink

Weighty Matters:  My weight has snuck back up to 163 1/2.  WTH?!   Shocked  I've been eating more veggies, from our garden, but apparently they're higher in carbs than I imagined.  I also had not been walking.   Angry    So...I'm back to being dilligent about the food I'm shoveling in, AND yesterday I returned to my treadmill.  163 1/2 indeed.  Be gone!   Smiley

Wednesday 23 July 2008
Hair:  Wash day; hair is down.

Other:  Only half girly today with mascara but no lipstick.   Smiley  Wearing jeans, a short sleeve pullover top, and brown flip flops.

Weighty Matters:  Was careful with food yesterday, although I suspect walking will improve my weight rather than strict diet.  Last evening I walked 20 minutes on my treadmill.  This evening I should be able to do 30 minutes.  The scale this morning read 162.

Wednesday 30 July 2008
Hair:  Wash day; hair is down.

Other:  Hummers are eating us out of house and home--we have sighted at least 15-20.   Smiley  The little buggers are draining 2-3 feeders at least once every day (sometimes twice).  Sheesh!

I'm back on the genealogy trail.  I had been taking a break, for several months now actually, because my brain was spinning from all of the data I was looking at.   Shocked  But I was recently contacted by a distant, distant relative in Germany.  At least I'm under the impression that our tress intertwine somewhere down the line.   Smiley  Anyway, he is sending me a cd containing all of his information.  I can't wait to get a look at the data!  I wonder how long it will take for the cd to arrive here?  I'm figuring at least 2-3 weeks.  Argh...

My daughter is putting off the move back to Missouri until she can find a job comparable to the one she has now, as far as what she does and (especially) how much she's getting paid.  So she will not be back home by the end of summer.  Oh, I guess it's possible that the perfect job for her could open up sometime in the next month or two.  Miracles happen every day.   Smiley  Anyway, I believe she's doing the right thing.

Oh, I received the two blouses I ordered from Blair.  Mah-velous, dah-ling!  They're very feminine with subtle frills, exactly what I wanted.  Yay!

15-20 hummingbirds!  Holy cow!  Do you know what kind they are?  Is it primarily one type?

Sorry your daughter's not moving back so soon.  It will happen when the time is right.

I don't think it should take that long for a CD to arrive from Germany, unless he sent it by boat.  That can take forever and is best for large or heavy items.  We've sent/recieved things from Indonesia via boat and it can take nearly a month!  Ugh!!

I've only ever seen the Ruby Throated variety in our neck of the woods.  Each species has a distinct, and usually unwavering, migration path.   Smiley

Yep, that's pretty much what I told her, too.

--And you're right!  The cd came in yesterday's mail!   Cheesy  My husband had to come into town for something and, sweet man that he is, delivered the cd to me at the office.  It was like Christmas!

Thursday 31 July 2008
Hair:  It's a no-wash day, so hair is up in a ponytail.  I've been very tempted to start washing every day, since I'm sweating more due to our blast furnace temperatures.  But my hair seems to do better with the every other day routine.  *shrug*

Other:  Yep, so, I got the cd from Johannes, the distant relative in Germany.   Cheesy  I quickly skimmed the information, but need to print all of the data so I can look over it more closely.  I did find the family name I was looking for, but am not convinced it will be helpful.  What I'm looking for right now is information about my great-great-great grandmother, Katharina Kassel.  Johannes has information about a Phillip Kassel, whom he believes to be the brother of Katharina.  More research is needed.  --Of course...what else is new?!   Grin  The problem is that we're talking about people who were born in the 1800s...in Germany.  Katharina was born in 1819.  There's just no way I'm going to find information about her birth except to (1) make a trip to Germany or (2) make contact with someone currently living in Germany who can look up the information for me.  Fortunately for me, I now have such a contact in Johannes!   Smiley
