Jan 5th, 2008 at 5:48pm

Hi, Im new in this site. I always wanted long hair and since my hair is curly better. B ut I have a problem my hair is always frizzy  Embarrassed and has a lot of volume, besides the fact that is dry and thick Cry.  Like I said I always wanted long hair but also curly at least my natural curls, but it has been really hard. So I was thinking that maybe somebody could help me?  I dont know how to put a picture, so if anyone could help me on that one too, would appreciat it a lot. Thanks. Smiley

Hello and welcome to the forum Smiley

I can not help you with the frizzy hair question but I can help you with the posting a picture.

I replied to a thread which is located in the Chit Chat section under Letting Your hair Down and the title of the thread is Pic Posting Question.  That is the easiest way for me to post pictures and it might sound confusing until you actually try and  post a few pictures.
Good Luck Wink

Hi and welcome!
I also have curly hair that can frizz(it has a mind of its own Roll Eyes)  I use aloe vera gel to help control the frizz.  I also let my hair air dry and DON'T TOUCH IT until it's almost dry.  The more you touch it;the more likely it is to frizz.  I also oil the length and ends in the morning and at night, sleep with a satin pillow case, satin sleeping cap and my invention;Satin Sox for Long Locks.  Hope this helps.  I'm sure fellow long haired ladies and guys here will offer their ideas, too!

I'm not as curly as you are, but frizz can be a problem for me too.  One thing that really reduced frizz is using a microfiber towel-they suck up so much water!!  Also, not turning my whole head upside down when wet.

To keep frizz away, I use either Ouidad products or Devachan products for shampoo & conditioner.  I use Devachan leave in conditioner and Ouidad Quencher gel every time I wash.  I scrunch in these products bending over at the waist looking at the floor.  This way, I have access to all of my hair without turning it all upside down.  Then, when I stand upright I scrunch in a couple of drops of camellia oil for added moisture on my ends.

Ditto what Curlgirl64 said, don't touch your hair until its almost dry.  That really makes a difference!!!

That tip on the satin pillow case works great! Here's a few tips:

Naturally speaking, you can try a ph wash to close your cuticle down, which lessens your cuticle from swelling thus creating less frizz. Try this recipe:

1 ounce apple cider vinegar
1 quart of distilled water.

Combine the apple cider with the water, stir. Use as a final rinse after shampoo, then condition if you'd like. You can also add a drop or 2 of essential oils for fragrance.

2 products that  works awesome on curly, frizzy hair:
Biosilk silk theropy. Use on damp hair or run a little thru dried hair. It's heavy if used on dry hair, but on damp hair, it sucks into the cuticle and makes hair super soft.

Another is Curl life activator by Alterna. It goes on damp hair. Feels like a gel BUT you use less AND it feels like nothing is in your hair! It actually holds the curls, and tames frizz, but your hair isn't hard and crispy like regular gel. It's soft and wavy with little to no frizz. My clients love both those products.

Hope that helps! Smiley

My frizz tamed a lot when I started using very little shampoo. Just enough to wash the scalp but not foaming a lot. After rinsing out the shampoo, it hardly feels I've shampooed at all- it's still oily and not at all squeaky clean. then I coat all my hair thickly with conditioner. No scrubbing the hair dry with the towel!!! I do gently part and comb my hair while it's wet, otherwise it goes in all the wrong directions.

Just-above-shoulder-length, dark brown, thick, wavy-frizzy hair. &&I had butt-length hair through high school, shaved it ALL off in college, have shaved it twice since, and now intend to grow it butt-length again. xD

I've found that if you just shampoo the roots the frizz goes down. Also, avoid being out in the wind while it is drying because before the curl pattern sets it is easier to be pulled out of the locks.  The same thing goes for touching your hair while it is drying (other than to style it, if you like).  Also, I know this sounds miserable, but I've started taking cold(er) baths because the sebum doesn't get removed as much.  This is not alot of fun (it would probably be better if I took showers) but it really does help with frizz and shine.
