Fewer Tangles

I'm not quite sure what it is, maybe it just since I have made a definite decision of wanting really long hair that I've started paying more attention to it and taking better care of it. Since I started searching online for more information on how to take care of it or how to get it to grow, but whatever it is I seem to be having fewer tangles. The thought did cross my mind that maybe it had something to do with length. Lately it has just started to feel "long" since it has pretty much grown to where it was. Is it possible that the longer it gets the fewer tangles you get?

Maybe I am being more careful with my hair because of my change in mindset or maybe the my most recent henna treatment is helping. I did do a slight trim about a week ago, maybe that helped some too.

Also I wonder, I do have 3A curly hair. I know the curlier it is the more it has seemed to tangle in the past. 3A hair seems to get more curly as it grows but only around the lengths. The curls get kind of stretched out of the hair closest to my head so maybe that has something to do with it

You're more mindful now of how you're treating your hair and avoiding tangles is part of the deal. Hair actually does tangle more as it gets longer though, so the longer your hair, the more careful you have to be with it. Cheers!

I have a lot of hair if you've seen my Fotki. I worry about spending even more time in the shower detangling.

Angel Spun Ex Member	Re: Fewer Tangles Reply #7 - Apr 9^th, 2008 at 4:40pm hehe Girl, I promise you - nobody gets more tangles than I do...and I still find having long hair to be worth it. The trick is detangling throughout the day and wearing your hair in a secured style so tangles don't happen.

I already have to use Drano on a regular basis to clear the drain cause of all my shedding!lol And as far as detangling throughout the day, Ha! I'm curly, can't touch it during the day. lol I'm hoping the weight will stretch it out some so that will help some. But ether way, I am looking forward to it and I am sure it will be worth it. I'm sure I'll learn some trick along the way. Like maybe if I comb out my curls when damp and put it n a twisty bun maybe when it dries it'll just be wavy.

Also, I have my 10yr Highschool reunion in September. I am hoping to gain some length by then my hair has been growing pretty fast. More than 1/2in per month. I'm thinkin I should be about 26 when dry by then. I know putting it up would be more elegant but I'd really like all my classmates to see how healthy, curly and long it is. When they knew me, I was still in denial and I relaxed and blowfried regularly. My hair was much dryer then.

Totally hear ya, sister. I'm going to wear my hair down for my upcoming 10 year too.  

By any chance, have you tried any shine sprays or detangling serums? True, I don't know the first thing about curly hair, but I just started using a shine spray and it works pretty well keeping the tangles at bay. 
    Otherwise, I just recommend a contained style. The twisty bun thing that you mentioned sounds cute.

Shine sprays are a no-no cause they have 'cones but I have done "No More Tangles" type stuff and that works some. I used to be able to brush it out damp and tie it back to wake up to a wavy do, but it was much shorter then.

I would like to be able to change from wavy to curly without too much trouble or damage. Cause I am figuring that with a wavy style I could get a few days out of it and not have to wet, co/wash save me time and help my drain!lol When I decide to wear it curly, unless something changes, it's kinda once and done. I do love my big curly hair though.

As far as the reunion goes, I think I ight have to wear it down. My old friend from school that I keep in toch with said we'll go shopping for some killer dresses and I plan on showing off!lol Cool

I also thought of something else. Last time I had my hair BSL when dry, I did have quite of bit of "tangle-trouble". I spent way too much time trying to get it unknotted, so the idea of longer length worried me. But then I remembered that the last time it was that long quite a bit of it still had relaxer on it and it was pretty rough and dry so there was more tangling, I got all the relaxer (I think) cut off and have had a much easier time with tangles. So it stands to reason that this time around I'll have a much easier time.
