From the mouth of a "Stylist"
Apr 8th, 2008 at 9:26am

I thought we could all use a good laugh this morning!!
I was flipping channels this morning,on Channel 11 News they were doing a spot on hairstyles, color and make-up.  The woman covering the story asks the stylist,"So when women come to you what should they say about what they want".  The stylist(and I kid you not on this!) says,Women should just let go of control and let the stylist do their thing".  We know what we're doing, just trust us".  In so many words this is what was said!!!  I almost fell off the coach!!!  TRUST THEM???  The models that were shown (before and after shots) were alittle more than to be disired on what was done to their hair!!!  I don't think I'd send a cow to let him give any kind of haircut!

It's odd but I think that most hair stylists have that type of personality.  I've known a few that I actually had to argue with in order to get what I wanted (or didn't want).  It's as though they feel that once you sit in their chair that your hair no longer belongs to you, but to them. Wacko indeed! Roll Eyes

Could imagine other professionals having the same attitude?

Me, as wacko yoga teacher: You will get your foot behind your head.  Here, I'll help you.
Student: Ahhhhh.  Ouch!  You're ripping my leg off!

Bet I wouldn't see that student again, huh?!

I seriously doubt she sits back and lets her stylist do whatever comes to mind.  I hope some of her clients explain to her first hand the error of her thinking.

For an opposing point of view - there have been times where I had no idea what should be done with my hair and I did let the stylist do whatever they wanted.  However, my hair was reasonably short at that time and I knew it would grow out quickly.  Taking that same attitude with hair that has taken years to grow out would be silly, and unwise.  Wink
