While I am working on my experiment, I am avoiding the tape measure.  So I am entering Aprils measurement of 41 inchees.  just to keep in contact with everybody.

Last month I said my hair was 21 inches long, but that was WRONGEmbarrassed
You see, I used the wrong method to measure.

Now that
Angel Spun
has taught me how to measure my hair length correctly, I will be able to have a more accurate reporting on the length of my hair.
Thanks
Angel Spun

My hair is about 27 1/3" long.

That is an approximation only because I rolled my hair in socks last night and it is curly. I really looked cute all day.

My hubby loved it! Wink Roll Eyes

Oh wow!  I feel like I'm measuring progress on a pixie! Embarrassed  My hair's still so short that it bends up inside but it's at least 14 ½" now.  3/4" gain since my last measurement at the middle of April.  I had my last trim at the end of March and won't allow my hair to be trimmed before the end of the Summer or beginning of Fall.  Then I'll only allow my hairdresser to take of 1cm but I'll tell her ½cm because you know how hairdressers can be Roll Eyes

I wish my hair grew 3/4" in ~15 days. Shocked That is wonderful!

Instead of telling your hairdresser only 1cm, why not talk to her/him about only taking off the damaged ends. Cutting off as little as possible, but making sure any damaged ends gone. It may mean more than 1cm. It might mean less.  Your hair will actually grow faster and be healthier if the damaged ends are gone.

I know you're right, I've just become a bit paranoid because like a lot of women I've experienced overenthusiastic hairdressers who seem to think that a trim to take off damanged ends means several inches which usually isn't necessary.  I'll try to get her to show me how much she thinks needs to be cut off and tell her if I agree or think less could be taken off so we don't have any misunderstandings Smiley

I am going to have to have someone help me measure how far I have to go to my waist and then my tailbone.

Angel Spun gave a really good description on the correct way to measure your hair last month in April's Measure up.

Quote:
[color=#000000]The proper way to measure is to use a fabric tape measure. Take the beginning end of it and place it right at the center of your hairline. Then bring the tape measure over your head and down the length. Where your hair ends is your measurement. Be sure to keep the tape measure centered. Cheers!

Just reading your description tells me you may not be doing it correctly.

You say you are 5'9 = 69" =A

Current length of hair = 37" =B

Hair reaches knees
If Hair is measured from hairline

Inches from hairline to crown is not factored into height = C

Therefore
A
-
B
-
C
=
inches from knee to foot.

69"
-
37"
=
inches from knee to foot.
+
Inches from hairline to crown

32" =
inches from knee to foot.
+
Inches from hairline to crown

The distance from hairline to  my crown is ~ 5" (everyone's is different)
And I am sure I would love to have your long legs.
So, let us pretend they are mine.  Wink
This would mean, from my knee to my foot would measure 27"

Quite impressive, but I am not sure I would be able to walk on those legs.
And just think, if you did not measure from your hair line, your hair is longer than you think!

I would love to see pictures of your hair.
Have you posted any pictures of it in the Show Off Your Locks section in this message board?

ha ha ha  Grin. you're very right of course! i am SO not a math kid. my second attempt ( i keep getting different numbers) but i think i'm more about 32" Cry bummer. in order to post pics i would have to befriend my hubby's digital camera...i'm sure i'll do it.... eventually  Wink.thanks for posting that info on measuring ( and thanks to Angel Spun for saying it in the first place  Cheesy! ), it was very helpful. i can''t imagine why i thought my ruler method would be at all accurate. if anyone asks, it was caffeine deprivation.

I
think you will find that your hair is longer than 37",
unless the measurement from your knees to your feet is truly ~27". Wink

Why not have your hubby take the pic? Cool
It is your hair we want to see. Smiley
If you notice, everyone's pictures are taken from the back.

Hi Moew27,  I am recording my experiment in my journal.  You can read that if you wish.  I dont plan to measure again until October 1.  I am currently only washng with conditioner.  Sorry, but I have absolutely no pictures of me or my hair.  Maybe some day I will take one of my hair.

Notes to self:

1-The most important point about word problems is READING and UNDERSTANDING all of the points.
Yes, you did say, Knee length was your GOAL!
Not where you were. Embarrassed

2- After 1am is probably not the best time for me to be responding to message boards.
As you may have noticed, I have a tendency to ... well... just look at my 5/6/08 posts. Embarrassed

Why is there never a proper ruler handy when you need one?  I suppose I'll just have to say.....my avi was taken about 25 mins ago, so that's how long my hair is!  I will continue to search for a fabric ruler....

Ah-hah.  Well, according to this, mine's about 20".  Not sure if I measured that right, though.

When you measure, start at the front hairline and go over the top of your head and down to the ends.  That is the measurement method most people use around here.

I love the color of your hair!

I'm 24 inches dry, 31 inches wet.  Since I am only 5'1" that is actually pretty long, but I want it to look 31 inches when it is dry, so I've got a ways to go.
