Any suggestions???
May 16th, 2008 at 11:40am

Hey, all.  I'm going to MI next month to help my mom recover from major surgery.  I'm going to be bringing movies along and I thought I'd cast out a net and see what you all might suggest.

This is what I'm currently bringing:
Casanova
Pride & Prejudice
5th Element
The Good Sheppard
Practical Magic
Sleepy Hallow
From Hell
Marie Antoinette
Lord of the Rings trillogy
Star Wars I-VI

I was trying to think of movies that are not too funny for the first 2 weeks, laughing will hurt her.  Now, that being said, I want funny for the 2nd 2 weeks since we all know what good medicine laughter is.
My sister has Netflix so I may send your suggestions to her.

Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions!

Dirty Dancing is one of my favorites.  Not too much laughing as I can remember.
Bird Cage with Robin Williams,Hank Azaria and Nathan Lane.  I laughed my butt off at some of the antics in that movie.
Hope that helps!

These are more guy flicks which I really like which are The Edge starring Anthony Hopkins, Black Dog starring Patrick Swayze and Breakdown starring Kurt Russell.

I could name a ton more but that is what I can come up with off the top of my head.

Curlgirl - you and I must have similar movie tastes!  My favorite chick flick is Dirty Dancing.  Bird Cage is also a great movie.  Mrs Doubtfire is another great Robin Williams movie.

I see so few movies. I'm afraid I don't have any other suggestions.

I like a lot of raunchy comedies (such as Borat) but there are some funny movies and some of them star Leslie Nielsen such as Airplane, The Naked Gun, etc. and pretty much any Mel Brooks movie is funny.

I'm all about the classics, so if it was me recovering from surgery, I'd love to watch Nosferatu with Max Schreck or Dracula with Bela Lugosi...or maybe a Lon Chaney marathon.  Wink  I also really like Arsenic And Old Lace with Cary Grant.

For comedy, I just saw Some Like It Hot (with Marilyn Monroe) a few nights ago & omg, is it funny! Good stuff...
