DVD's
May 25th, 2008 at 5:43pm

Some people like to buy just the regular DVD's and then people like myself who are collector's buy the boxed sets and/or the DVD's which come with an extra special features disc and now they have DVD's which you can download a digital copy to your computer hard drive.

And there are HD DVD's but those have been phased out by the Blu-Ray DVD's.  I would like to have Blu-Ray discs but the players and the DVD's are on the more expensive side so I might go that way sometime in the future.

I am curious, are you a collector or do you just buy the regular DVD's?

I don't buy DVD's often but when I do I just buy the regular ones.  I typically don't care about stuff like deleted scenes etc.

I purchased the collectors edition of Pretty Woman, not knowing that they added additional scenes to the movie.  I felt that the added scenes weren't any good and made the movie less likable.  So whenever I want to see Pretty Woman, I wait for it to come on cable.

Although, I have been wanting to replace my Purple Rain DVD with the 20th anniversary collectors edition.  I don't believe that there are extra scenes (hopefully).  I only want it because they include the music videos from all of the songs in the movie.  I just haven't gotten around to getting it though. I like additional features...to a point. If they in any way interfere with the original feature (and some do), then no. Otherwise, sure. The more, the merrier.

I'm the type that needs all the special features: making of stuff, deleted scenes, features on the costumes, anything. I just love it all!!

And commentary, it has to have commentary(though that usually would come with the regular DVD)

I don't buy them. I have two that were given to me.

1. Monty Python's Holy Grail
2. Easy Rider

If extra scenes are there I'd humor it and watch them. But I do not have a DVD player. I don't have a cellular phone, either. I am obsolete.

Rodent, out of the very many computers you have you are saying not even one has a DVD drive on it?

2 of the computers I have do have DVD drives but the new HP has the burner and it is nice to put 4.7 GB on a disc instead of worring if there is space on the old CDR 700 MB discs Roll Eyes

But, I am very far from anti-technology because even though it does make things a lot easier and even makes some people lazy it is very nice to have Cool

I was at Target and saw the boxset of Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry Ultimate Collector's Edition and I could not pass it up so I bought it Tongue

I also thought of buying the Rambo boxset but I already have the first two boxsets which have the 3 movies and I just bought the two disc version of the newest Rambo but if I ever see the newest set for dirt cheap I will probably buy it Roll Eyes

Yes, I have eight computers. They are obsolete, too. I am obsolete.

Yes, Jerry, the one with Vista has a DVD player but I don't have the program to play movie DVD's. This one is a 3 ghz P4 with a gig of memory that was given to me with a blown drive and bad main board that was repairable, but I don't have the programs that came with it. Well, maybe that computer isn't totally obsolete...
