I didn't get to watch the entire thing, as I had to go watch my children's skit for Vacation Bible School, but what I did see, I was in awe! That part with the moving presses, forming patterns and moving up and down, I thought surely that was all computer generated, but NO, it was done with all people! Shocked

I love thier music, and history. I loved the costumes they wore, kinda makes me wish I coud have seen everything way back, and first hand. Someday I will travel and you can bet China is on my list! So is Ireland, Scottland, England, France, and Italy!

But when money is no object, and you can command people to do whatever you want them to do, I would expect a spectacular show.

I saw the opening ceremony up until the American athletes entered the stadium and, man, I was blown away. I thought the moving presses might have been done with hydraulics, but when I saw all the people pop out I went, "Holy crap!!!" I can't believe how the Chinese Olympic committee and Zhang Yimo (the director of "Hero") were able to coordinate 15,000 performers.

I love to watch him swim. Just AMAZING!

How horrible would that be, to go on vacation and not come home to your family?

He was president of our largest florist/gardening company. Very high profile. It has been very sad that this happened.

She looked to be 8 or 10 tops. Most of the girls look no where near the required age of 16.

livingandlovingx3: My husband said the same thing...he said those girls are "kids!" I thought yea and ?. But when he said they were only 16, I was totally shocked.! Shocked

I thought that I was looking at elementary school aged children.

And Juri...I was shocked too to see that therer were people under the moving press as well. I thought that it was all automated.

There are 2 or 3 of the Chinese gymnasts that their ages are being contested. Apparently there is documentation of them competiting in specific age bracketed events that would make them 12 -14 years old. When the IOC was asked to investigate, the IOC received copies of the athletes passports which "proved" they were or would be 16 by the end of the year. The IOC accepted this documentation and did no more. My thought is ------ WHO ISSUED THE PASSPORTS!!!???!!! The Chinese government - of course! And considering how driven they are to win more medals than any other country, I'm sure they would not be above changing the birthdate for the passport.
