Dear Hair Dairy,

Washed yesterday and have it all up to preserve the curls for tonights party.  It Don's father's 69th birthday.
I wanted to wear my kimono coat over my dress and Don had a fit. Cry  The coat is beautfull, black silk with red flowers. He said he would be embrassed if I wore it in front of his family. Needless to say I was not impressed. Angry Cry  I do not like to be told what to do or wear, I am not impressed in the least about this.  His brother Al has been making snide comments about me as of late calling me a Bubble Head.  Like I need this crap after what I went through with my ex huband and his crazy family...please...

Anyway I am off... Sad

Whoa...what is going on with them? Huh

I don't like being told what to do or wear either.  Perhaps Don felt that the coat was too dressy or showy for his family?  Or since it's a kimono style coat, maybe he thought that they wouldn't "get it".

I know that my familiy thinks I'm weird sometimes because my life is more varied.  Their world is so small that anything outside of what they are accustomed to can seem odd to them.  I remember visting one year and I was wearing an Indian pashmina.  To me it was nothing, but to them it was such a spectacle.   I don't get mad at them or anything because I understand.  I actually think it's funny.

Of course, I don't know if that's whats going on with Don's family.  I'm just throwing a possibility out there based on my experience. Smiley

Hopefully, you'll have fun at the party anyway! Cheesy (((hugs)))

Egads. Well, that isn't very polite, is it? Perhaps he was just trying to spare you the extra teasing. Or maybe he hails from a racist family with no appreciation for other cultures. Or perhaps he himself isn't fond of the "white girl trying to be Japanese" look and doesn't want to be seen escorting it around in public. Maybe his family wears nothing but Old Navy & Gap (or whatever the Canadian equivalents are) and the kimono would've freaked them out a little. ...

Your man should have first informed his family that his new gf has a more *ahem* eccentric way of dressing before tossing her into family functions. Until he does, you have the option of keeping your wardrobe more mainstream while in their company - maybe putting in exotic touches like a shawl or a hairtoy and gradually introducing more as they get more comfortable around you....OR dress as you please and face the music.

La Diosa, Angel.  Don's family is not so prime and proper just uncultred to some exsent and so is Don.  I gather I scared him with my japanese stuff. Tongue  Notwithstanding, I wore my mink jacket instead.  Don knew I was dead angry at him so he took me to China Town for some shopping and I got some neat bowls and spoons.  We did have a good time at dinner.  We, besides his father and stepmother, were th only ones dress properly ( his brother Al looked like a begger form Bathhurst and Finch! Tongue Don told me how beautiful I was all nite.  We had surf and turf.  Anyway now I know not to wear my japanese stuff infront of his family.... Tongue  such a dumb freakin arguement.... Undecided

Dear Hair Diary,

Four more day to the move!  I am all packed save for hair stuff and food.  Ah and of course its that time of the month!  eeek...  But I shall preserve.  Got to take home some cake lastnight from Larrys birthday party. Smiley  Lastnight I wore my had in a bow clip that has a mesh bun bag on it.  It was easy and come out nice.

Remember my old bonsai?  Well it still alive and kicking. Cool

Dear Hair Dairy,

Did a CO wash yesterday with a vinger rines, hair come out nice and soft.  I followed up with some Ojon.
Here's a pic from the birthday party the other day.

...

Remember I said Don brother Al called me a bubble head?  Well...according to his girlfriend he said it again in front of the family at the party when Don and I were out of the room getting the cake...  Apparently his stepmother ripped him a new one on the spot and then when Don found out yesterday he drove his truck to his brothers house and tore him a new one too!  ...

I am very happy Don and his stepmother defended me.  As for Al, hey I know where it'S coming from....

Well I am off to clean Smiley

It's good that Don and his family stood up to him.  Perhaps now he'll stop saying silly things.
