I don't know what the texture of your hair feels like but my middle son brought home a hair that looks like yours in his lunch box. Grin  Out of curiosity I washed the hair off and had a good inspection of it.  I'm not in the habit of touching other people's hair so I don't really know what finer hair texture feels like except on short, men's styles like hub's and my oldest son's hair.  It was so soft and fine to touch.  Absolutely enviable!  I want hair like that in my 'next life'. Wink

A mystery hair!  Curly hair is often fine but mine is medium texture.  It is soft if I keep up on the regular deep treatments and oiling when dry.

My husband is Chinese-Indonesian, so he has hair like yours.  I call it indestructable hair.

Good luck on your next life in getting the hair you want!!!

Thanks, ForeverFay.  Nope, no length stealing...you'll have to grow your own.

My hair isn't technically in layers.  My curly girl beautition cuts one curl at a time, so the lengths of the individual curls are a little different which makes the curls lay nicely together.

Those are so gorg Sakina!!!
I have a question for you too, by the way. Growing my hair out again (cut it all off in the summer... stupid decision of me... but it was probably all damaged anyway)
You and I have similar hair. Curly and mine is a bit darker than yours (more brown too. Going to get a 4/5 indigo 1/5 henna wash in it to make it almost black).
I am curious what products you use? I know you talked about the Deva Curl line alot. Their shampoo is too harsh for me (I'm a guy too by the way.)

Just curious about what products you use, your entire routine (oiling, do you ACV, if so what kind of V and how often, etc, do you shampoo, etc...)

I did get the Curly Girl handbook on your advice to do so!!! It's awesome but not one of those books that really opened my eyes all the way. It did a little tho Smiley

Thanks Sakina!

Thanks, Yaku!

I shampoo 2 times a week.  Recently I had a small change to my routine 'cause my scalp was suuuuper itchy.  For that I used Neem Therapy shampoo, conditioner and neem oil to spot treat my scalp.  The therapy conditioner isn't moisturizing enough for me so I used DevaCurl One Condition.  I have hard water so I acv rinse every time I shampoo.

How was the DevaCurl shampoo too harsh for you?  What was happening?

Roughly my routine is to scalp massage (I use Sweet Success Hair Growth Oil and/or neem oil) the night before I shampoo, or if my scalp it getting itchy. (I have super dry skin on my whole body, scalp included!) Also, I get scalp massages from my salon every two weeks using organic sunflower oil.  I shampoo w/Lo Poo, then rinse with apple cider vinegar and water, then condition.  I do put conditioner on my ends before shampooing.
Then I apply DevaCurl leave in, gel and moisture lock.  I've been trying to be better about my deep conditioning treatments, mostly they've been sporadic.  I use Ouidad's Deep Conditioner, leaving it in for an hour w/o heat or 20 mins under the bonnet dryer on lowest setting.

I remember when I first switched to the curly girl method that it took several weeks for the adjustment, and just to get the hang of it.  Gotta be patient, Yaku.  You may be extra lucky for starting over!

I'm glad you read the book, so we're on the same page-so to speak!  As always, you gotta take what you can use and leave the rest.

You're on the path...gotta find your own way.  I hope I'm of some help, the rest is up to you!

Good Luck!!!!  (And you're welcome)

Sakina, your hair is beautiful!  I wish I had that kind of lovely wave in my hair.  Are those Sear Me's in the top picture?  I just bought a SO of those.

My mother, a stylist, always wants to "do something" with my hair.  It's so nice and long because I won't let her. Tongue
