October 2008
Sep 30th, 2008 at 9:22pm

This weekend I am planning to be outa town.  Friday the 3rd is my birthday, so some of my friends are getting together and we are gonna do dinner/shopping extravaganza together. I wont be back into town until next week.   I didnt know if I could start the October measure in today cuz it is still Sept.  Since I am leaving town, could I record October's measurement here?

Hair's new length is 40 1/2 inches.  Please feel free to move this measurement to the proper area.

Have a safe trip, Debr! Right now I'm about 14.5-15 ish. I'm not really sure because my hair is crimping in braids right now (Read my journal for the full story of my first time doing french braids with super short hair Tongue) and I dont want to take it out, but if its any different ill modify the post Smiley.

I've finally reached 36". Well, actually I think I reached it for the beginning of september, but I... Just wasn't up to dealing with hair stuff at the time so I didn't measure. I'm maintaining here until September '09, or until I get so anxious to get more length that I stop maintaining early. I trimmed about 1/4 of an inch off to get it to 36".

Happy birthday, Debr! Have a nice vacation Smiley *hugs*

I'm at 24".  Officially 2 feet.  Whoo hoo!  Hubby helped me measure and now I know that waist length is 30.5" and hip length is 36".

That's great moew27.  I can't find a measuring tape at all but I don't think my hair has grown since the minor trim a week ago.  She took very little off the tips but I let her cut a few more layers at the bottom because I couldn't stand the sight of dull, dyed ends anymore yet I didn't want to lose too much length and the layers are actually beginning to grow on me.

I'm seriously worried that I'll want to keep the layers because I've been so dead against layers before.  The layers are still confined to the bottom part of my hair so it's not impossible to rip 6 months out of a calendar and say my hair stays X length for that time until I'm rid of the layers if I decide to grow my hair very long and the layers begin to irritate me.

I measured today and got 22 3/4 inches.  I haven't measured since Sept 4 (22.5 inches), and on the 18th I did a trim.  I thought I trimmed 1/2 an inch, but it must have been more like a quarter, because I gained a quarter inch this month.  Super!

Debra
- Happy Birthday!!!!
40.5 inches!!! Is that below the butt length? That must be so lovely. You must draw a crowd where ever you go.

Kiraela
- 36 Inches? How wonderful! I cannot wait until I can measure my hair with a yard stick.

Sakina
- Congratulations at reaching your two foot mark!  I love your bun. I saw some of your other hair styles on other pages. Very nice.  Very nice color, as well. Do you do any coloring? I am going to try some chamomile and yogurt to make mine more shiny.

Skyfire
- Wow! your hair has really grown! It is really amazing.

Edit: After trim: 26 3/4" Aww, I want it back!

And yay for you Moe!! I'm happy your hair is over its resting period now. Smiley
Chamomile and yogurt on your hair? What kind of yogurt? Hmmm.. tell me how that works out in any case!

Unfortunately my hair is fighting me. I measured three days in a row and all three times it read 24" This is not good considering last month I measured 24.5" I now know my hair is breaking at the ends and working its way up. Thank goodness I am getting a trim on the 18th. So when this happens I will re-post my measurement so it will be accurte.

It's funny though, my hair seems like it is getting longer. When I see it on my arms, it is farther down than it used to be, but the tape says otherwise. Maybe my sides are getting longer than the back. I have noticed my layers are longer. The shortest layer I could find read 14", so I know that my hair is growing, because last time I measured my layers they were 8". Interesting, yeah?

That sounds really stupid...[ya-ha!!! from root to tip doofus!!] ...does anyone know what I mean?  Huh like, the place on your head.... Grin okay, it's getting to late for this, I'll have another go next time...bye!!

Gloriana - most of us measure our hair starting at the front hairline, go over the top of the head and down to the ends.  A cloth tape measure is easiest to use, but you can use whatever is handy.

Well, I gave myself some self-trims to even up my ends (there were a few ringlets that were visibly longer than the others) so now I'm at 26 1/4".  So I cut off about an inch and a half.  That sounds about right...

I'm still ahead of where I was at the start of the summer, though.  And my hair hasn't been breaking as I've been braiding. Grin

Yep, this is how most measure their hair.  I do realize that this could mean the measurement is longer than the longest hair.  But you can measure your hair any way you want - just be consistent!
