Hair: Purity wash, ACV rinse, condition. The usual clarifying routine. Today's only leave-in was Suave Kids detangling spray, which my hair seems to favor of late. Perhaps it has something to do with the weather...not sure. Anyway, the style du jour will probably be a single braid...which could incite the usual mockery from my father when I drive him to band practice tonight.

Etc.: Yes, practice tonight. Today is Lizard's birthday, so attendance is mandatory.

Mmm...is Campbell's Italian style wedding soup not the tastiest ever? *chomp* Sorry, what was I saying?

Right, so I just hope that my dad remembers to pick up a giftcard today for Lizard so we can reimburse him for the countless BBQ's and bottles of wine he's treated us to over the years. Not that I'm participating in the latter. Wink

Tomorrow's early shift at work will be brutal on little sleep, but it will be worth it to see the guys and possibly refill my gas tank for free.

Keep rockin'! ...

I know about that stuff. ... Current circumstances make it possible for only my father to work.  Embarrassed I never planned on working a normal job anyways so I'm working from home... technically I'm studying and learning right now but I'll soon be seeing how good I am... halfway decent would be nice.  Roll Eyes

Tanai: Aye, finding work in a small town isn't easy. But it also isn't impossible. Same thing with major cities. Roll Eyes Good luck to you, lovey.

Fisher2: Huh

Hair: The usual CWC. In two weeks, my Moisture Renewal conditioner should be gone and I'll begin using the Nature Fusions Moisture Balance formula...which I'm looking forward to. Smiley

Today's leave-in's were Suave Kids detangling spray on the length and a touch of EVOO on the ends. After my hair finishes drying, I'll put it up with a peacock feather hairstick.

Music: Lizard seemed to have a good birthday. Wine flowed (7-Up in my case), as did conversation, street tacos were made and we seemed to have our act together in the music room. Grateful Ed was ecstatic about the sound, though I couldn't hear much of it with earplugs in. My dad said later on that he couldn't hear the vocals, which is common.

The guys decided to move our practice day to Wednesdays since I could no longer make Tuesdays. Smiley We're off next week as Lizard will be out of town. After that, we'll have to find another place to jam because the music room is undergoing expansion. There was talk about getting together at the end of this week.

Dad and I might visit the trolley station venue in town this Saturday. Boscoe will be playing there with one of his bands and Lizard wants to go. That's how local music is. Everybody supports and plays with everybody else.

Etc.: So last week, I ordered a truckload of sterling silver earrings. Five days ago to be exact, and they still have yet to process the order. Huh I even submitted my payment info a second time, just in case, and received a second e-mail notice that the order had been placed. But nothing beyond that so far.
Most companies waste no time in snatching your money. They charge the account and process the order the day it's placed rather than leaving it open for a bloody week. Curious...

So, God knows whether I'll ever actually get the earrings or not. For all I know, the order is still sitting unnoticed in someone's inbox...or has been sucked into the Twilight Zone.

Hair: Yesterday evening, I decided to put myself together and go to the mall. I'd bought a mineral mascara last week and had been dying to try it out. Anyway, there was trouble when it came to fixing my hair. I tried regular buns, knot buns, bobby pins, hairsticks...fussed with it for over 20 minutes and nothing worked. Angry Eventually, I did get a normal bun to work with a hairstick and a bobby pin, but I didn't even want to think about how many hairs were broken in the process. Oy.

So after returning home from the mall, I slicked my hair with tons of EVOO, wound it up under a cap and left it on overnight.
This morning, I washed it all out and applied a treatment of aloe gel, honey and Pantene Deep Fortifying treatment. After an hour, that was rinsed out and chased with L'Oréal Superior Preference conditioner (left over from one of my dad's hair coloring treatments, no doubt), which is notably scented with artificial rose.

Leave-in's were Suave Kids detangling spray on the length and EVOO on the ends/underside. The latter has left my hair rather greasy as usual, but it's still too early to tell whether the treatment had any effect at all.
Tomorrow is another WTC day anyway, so I'll try something else.

Etc.: After a little Godiva indulgence last night, I stopped at a kiosk that sold handmade necklaces. The "chain" parts were a series of thin, leather cords and ribbons in different colors and the pendants were all glass with different shapes and designs. They had a very artful look and were only $5 apiece, so I got one with a clear heart shaped glass pendant with a black glass insert and some sort of purple, glittery piece in the center. Black ribbon/cords. Too awesomely '80's to resist. ...

Tonight, I think I may go back to the same mall after work...this time for Boudin.

Weather-wise, I think we've seen the last of our June gloom. Thankfully, it lasted up to the summer solstice, but from there on, it will be the usual misery.
Sunblock, I've decided, is a necessary evil. Sad Most days, it's just too windy for an umbrella, and the looks/assumptions/questions it would garner from co-workers just isn't worth it.
In all honesty, I'd like to use temporary haircolor during the summer for extra protection, if I could find a shade that I liked.

With that, I'm off to make a list of necessities for the prepared summer goth. Wink
A bientôt!

It is. Yet another thing I'll have to get a crappy pic of with my camera phone. Roll Eyes

Sad Better to be safe than sorry though.

SPF: Yesterday, I vowed, was the last day that I would run around without sun protection. On the way home from work, I picked up separate sunblocks for lips, face and body. After much slathering and powdering, today was my first day completely protected...and the weather has been gray and cloudy. *sigh*
At least I know now that I can get it all on in a hurry if need be.

Hair: Last night, I did an overnight conditioning treatment with Suave Soothing Lavender Lilac conditioner. Washed it out this morning with the usual shampoo blend, then left Pantene Deep Fortifying treatment in for an hour. Chased with more L'Oréal Superior Preference conditioner.

My only leave-in today was Suave Kids detangling spray...and it wasn't enough. After air drying and brushing against the sunblock/powder on my skin all afternoon, my hair felt pretty nasty. Only a braid could save it, though the ends are still noticeably dry and in dire need of a trim. Tongue Next week, I suppose I will try to contact my scissor lady and arrange one.

Etc.: Even after severely overdrafting my anemic little bank account, I've still come up just short of being able to afford my meds this month. Sad It's not the worst thing in the world to do without them for a month, but it's not a healthy practice either.
Ah well. With any luck, July will be less financially stressful. Y'know, because I'm so lucky to begin with. Tongue

I think the book I ordered was actually sucked into the Twilight Zone. They were supposed to ship it by the 17th then they cam across saying there would be a delay and the next set of ship dates is the 2nd-8th.  Angry Yep it's been sucked in.  Roll Eyes Grin

Tanai: Bummer, babe. Guess we just keep our fingers crossed for now, eh? Undecided

Hair: 3rd day CWC with the usual leave-in's (Suave Kids detangling spray & EVOO). The daily wearing of sunblock renders my hair a nasty wreck, so contained styles are mandatory. Tongue Last night, I taught myself how to rope braid (which isn't actually braiding at all), so today's style is a flipped ponytail with the ends rope "braided."
It actually reminds me of the Twirly Curls Barbie that I had in the early '80's who came with her own rope braiding tool. How useful might that be now, had I saved it? Roll Eyes

Etc.: My nails could hardly wait for a new manicure yesterday. They're now a shade of Revlon pewter called Steel-Her Heart.

Over the weekend, I picked up Depeche Mode's new album, Sounds Of The Universe Undecided and saw Twilight. Shocked Tongue The latter wasn't my fault. My sister brought it (and her dog) over and wouldn't start the movie until we were all seated in the living room. I take full responsibility for the former though. For me, it was more of a disappointment than the movie because I expected the movie to suck. It's not the first lacklustre effort from DM though...I hope they're able to recover.
My only consolation is that I got the album for free with a Best Buy gift certificate instead of dropping any coin for it. There were other CD's on sale, and after the first listen through, I couldn't help but think, "[bleep]! I knew I should've gone with Lady Gaga." Grin

Weight is up to 119 again. *sigh* Must stop being so lazy about my walks. Tongue

So you wouldn't say Twilight is very goth?  I saw it a while back.  I didn't like it either, although I thought I would, being a fan of vampire movies.

These aren't "vampire movies"...at least not in the classical sense. They are teenage "romance" movies...with "vampires" in them.

Goth 101: So, now that we've touched on what goth isn't, maybe it would help to illustrate a little bit of what goth is.

Here's a quick introduction in audio/video form: One Two Three Four Five Six Seven

Enjoy. Wink

Hair: Tuesday is the usual clarifying day and today will be no different. In awhile, I'll go through the routine - Purity wash, ACV rinse, condition, spray conditioner, air dry, braid - but for the moment, I'm still in bed with an hour to spare before my day officially starts. Roll Eyes

Etc.: My sister and her dog were over again last night, so I couldn't power walk. Undecided Not that I'm blaming her - I love when she comes to visit. Weather is supposed to be favorable all day today - overcast, lots of clouds and...humidity...??? A definite rarity in this part of the country. So I might make it out for a morning walk.
Anyway, something screwy is going on with the various scroll bars on this page, so that's all for now. Have a lovely day, my dears.

Drear: I don't look at it in a negative way. Quite the opposite. If something else is going on, I consider it a lucky break from the routine. Half the time, I can expend energy in alternate ways (washing my car or chasing my sister's dog around burn calories too). And if not, I sometimes walk the next morning. No biggie.

Hair: Yesterday, I totally spaced and put EVOO on the ends. Oops. Undecided Of course, the ends are so dry now, they almost needed it.

CWC this morning. Leave-in's were Suave Kids detangling spray and EVOO. The latter has made the ends quite greasy as usual, so I'll be braiding as soon as the whole mess finishes drying.

As far as trimming goes, I've decided to wait until next week to call my scissor lady. It will be interesting to see if I've made it to 27.5" before the cut.

Music: No practice tonight since Lizard is out of town. The band may be on indefinite hiatus while our music room gets renovated.

Other Stuff: Anyone have plans for the 4th yet?

Hair: Friday WTC. Used up the last of the L'Oréal Superior Preference conditioner. Leave-in's were Suave Kids detangling spray and EVOO. After it's all finished drying, the style will probably be the usual single braid...EVOO almost always leaves the ends of my hair greasy.

Etc.: *SIGH* I really don't know what to say. I'm shocked and devastated and have been a right mess since yesterday. Sometimes I just don't understand God...why He takes great people away from us far too soon instead of hateful imbeciles who actually deserve it.

I spent a tearful morning looking over Michael's book, Dancing The Dream, looking through old pictures of him and watching Captain EO...all of which seemed strangely comforting. Though I'm not quite ready to pull out his albums yet. The grief is still too near.

One of my life's biggest creative and spiritual inspirations is suddenly gone. Just like that. His influence is still there, as it always has been...but the man himself is no longer around to fuel it. God, that's hard to swallow. Of all the people in the world, why HIM?!

Absolute tragedy. Cry
