*2nd version of today's entry, as the site ate the first version.

LD: *purses lips to suppress snarky comments...for once* Roll Eyes Er...no, dear. Maleficent is the famous villainess from Disney's Sleeping Beauty. But thanx. Wink

Hair: Washed with full strength Ice Shine shampoo and treated for over an hour with the Strengthening Mask. The latter left my hair so silky that I didn't bother to condition afterwards as I usually do, which I later came to regret. Not because it had some unfortunate effect on my hair, but because that just seems to me like the proper way to do it. Roll Eyes

When my sister's dog saw the jars of Strengthening Mask on the ledge of my bathtub, she stared intently at them, then started barking at them. Huh I brought them out to show her, and asked her why they were so scary. She licked them. Roll Eyes Dogs = retarded.

Anyway, today's leave-in's were spray conditioner blend on the length and EVOO on the ends, both with predictable results. Spray conditioner = good, EVOO = greasy. So today's style was the predictably consequential braid.

Music: The boys tried to arrange a rehearsal tonight, but I already know that I'm not the only one who's not going. I have the early shift at work tomorrow and have to get up at 5 AM. Tongue

Been listening to new singles from upcoming albums of bands that I love. AFI releases Crash Love on the 29th, and Echo and the Bunnymen's new album, The Fountain, comes out on October 12th. This should indeed be a good fall. Cool

Etc.: My skin is craaaaap. Tongue I need my meds but cannot afford them at the moment. Nor do I think that my ulcer-ridden stomach could handle them. So I suppose I'll just have to look like something from out of a horror movie for another month yet. *sigh*

Mr. Mature called my work several times today (at least I think it was him), asking for the phone numbers for different locations, etc. etc. He seemed much more polite this time around, but I still added 2 of his calls to the existing report, just to be on the safe side.

Man, I'm tired for some reason. My natural instinct is to go to bed at midnight and wake up at 8:00, though my work schedule messes that up at least 2 days a week. Tonight will be an extra early night. My eyes just don't want to stay open.

Of course they don't.  I'm sure that your suppression of snarky comments takes up a lot of energy.  Wink

Too bad I can't send you mine.  I haven't had a break out in quite a while and I have an almost full bottle of Nicomide on the brink of expiration. Embarrassed

I don't know why I'm laughing.  I'm not laughing at you. Smiley  Well, it was a good read and it sounds a good work situation.  I guess it was just my mental imagery of the dog situation.  I really feel with you on the ulcers and skin situation.

Bummer. Though at the moment, I'm trying to keep pills and supplements to a minimum. I have an extremely severe case, so it might not work for me anyway. Sad

Drear: Dogs are nuts, as anyone who has owned one (or several) would tell you. Grin I like them, but I'm way more of a cat person. Roll Eyes

Hair: Another CWC. Got to break in the new Suave Tropical Coconut conditioner today. It smells great, and I really must say that Suave has improved their conditioners. They all have a much richer consistency now.
Only one or two more days left with the Nature Fusion conditioner, thank goodness, before I am rid of its evil nastiness forever. Grin Well ok, it's not that bad, but it's far from great.

Leave-in's were spray conditioner blend and just a touch of serum. That seems to work best. Speaking of spray conditioner blends, this morning, I was able to combine all of the spray conditioners that I had in one bottle (a Pantene bottle, of course) to cut down on clutter. I'm getting rid of everything that I don't need bottle by bottle. Soon I may have it down to a science. Roll Eyes

I have the Suave tropical Coconut conditioner and use it when I'm making up a batch of my deep conditioner with coconut milk.  It works well for me that way. Just an opinion!

Hair: Yesterday, I did a proper WTC and used up the last of my Nature Fusion conditioner. Yay! I probably could have stretched it out to 2 more days, but if I didn't like it and already had a different conditioner waiting, why bother?

Today was a CWC. I finally got to break out my Ice Shine conditioner again. Smiley Leave-in's were the spray conditioner blend and a bit of serum. Style was something of an issue today. Roll Eyes Inspired by the crazy hair of one of my "celebrity crushes," I decided to attempt a crazy 'do of my own...just for laughs. And laugh I did. After much dividing, twisting, pinning and agonizing, and after at least 2 failed attempts, I became quite frustrated, which cracked my sister up as she watched me.
Eventually, I made a flipped ponytail, divided the tail in two, twisted each section and pinned them randomly at the back of my head with the ends fanning out. It wasn't nearly as crazy as I was aiming for, but I was done fighting with my hair at that point. Roll Eyes

Music: Once again, the boys had a bit of a falling out when I didn't make it to Wednesday's practice. My father told me on Thursday that the band may be breaking up. Undecided
Lizard still seems determined to do the show on the 22nd and has called for 2 rehearsals next week. I can't help but think that he'll need more time than we have to practice to prevent him from forgetting the words onstage. I also wonder how we're all supposed to practice together more often if the band really is breaking up. Huh Perhaps Lizard has a different interpretation of whatever went down Wednesday night. I don't know how to react to any of it, so I'm just going with the flow as usual. I refuse to get caught up in the stereotypical band drama. Roll Eyes

Aside from that, I think I may finally have exhausted my Lady Gaga CD for awhile, though I admit it's good for warming up the ol' pipes. But...perhaps it's time to listen to something else for awhile.
My biggest musical jones right now is on Echo & the Bunnymen. I'd love to get my hands on all of the 2004 remasters. Wink

Etc.: My skin is slowly recovering...I guess. The explosion of last week's blemishes has faded enough to where I look almost normal again, which isn't clear by a long shot, but better at least. This morning, I exfoliated and was able to wear makeup for the first time in weeks. At first, I had intended to keep it very simple...but this is me we're talking about...and in the end, I had on enough glittery purple eye makeup to make Prince proud. Roll Eyes Between that and my "crazy" hair, I felt hopelessly teenaged Tongue so of course I had to go to the mall. Gah. I'll dedicate tomorrow to more mature style choices.

Speaking of style, I've had to get rid of my Lip Service fishnet top. It didn't fit well to begin with and shrank with every washing until I could no longer wear it, which actually doesn't bother me much. How many 30-year-olds are still wearing fishnet tops anyway? Tights, yes...tops, not so much. Roll Eyes
That got me thinking about just how much juvenile junk I have lying around that I never even wear and that I should probably get rid of at least some of it. There's more to being a 24 hour rock star than black vinyl and cheap metal hardware.

Alright, I'm rambling now, so it's probably close to bedtime for me.
Ooh, Roxy Music just came on my AOL Radio player. Perfect to end the day with. God, I'm grateful to have been born during one of music's greatest decades. Wink

I'm sad to read that.  Would that mean an end to playing for you all together?

*slowly raises hand* In my case its a 30+ year old.  My fishnet top has built in fingerless gloves.

I just donated my red fishnet top to the Goodwill in the spring.  Not because of my age...it's just that my style has changed a bit.

When I was about your age, I had similar thoughts about looking "age appropriate" in my 30's.  Now, I feel if you still have the body for certain things, and you like the style, then why not?  I believe that those things should be the determining factors in our clothing choices.  Not age or conforming to what is deemed appropriate by society.  Not that that's what you're doing, of course.  Just my two cents. Wink

Drear: Quote:

Yes it would.

Quote:

Thanx. And it depends on the occasion for me. During the day, I tend to stick with one or two eyeshadows, sometimes more at night. Onstage, the crazier, the better. Roll Eyes

Sakina & LD: To each their own. The problem is that I've seen far too many people trying to dress like someone half their age, which looks completely pathetic and screams "arrested case of development!" whether you have the figure or not. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
Of course, I have nothing against fishnet - it's been a gothic staple for decades. But there's a fine line between wearing it tastefully and looking like an angsty high school cliché. Roll Eyes

Hair: Clarified, and boy did I need it. Yesterday I went through the full routine of slathering on sunblock, powder and makeup - all of which ended up in my hair Tongue which meant that an updo was mandatory, so I figured I'd attempt something crazy one last time. To my surprise, the random twisting and pinning worked and I actually ventured out in public that way. Shocked Even then, I couldn't escape the notion of that particular style being too young for me. Perhaps if I'd worn it with something besides jeans and a t-shirt... Undecided
When I took my hair down later that evening, it was a kinked, frizzy mess, which probably could have looked chic if I rocked it just right. Roll Eyes But I wasn't about to attempt a second experimental hairstyle that day, and just pinned it up in a bun until bedtime.

Thus, a timely clarifying this morning. My only leave-in was the spray conditioner blend, and the style is a single braid. Very basic.

Music: The band does indeed seem to be non-existent or on another indefinite hiatus, which is actually fine with me. Make no mistake, those boys are like family to me and I love them dearly, but the music that we've made has never inspired me. I think the time has come to take the next step in getting closer to where I want to be musically.

Dates for the full US leg of the Bunnymen tour will be released tomorrow, so I'm chomping at the bit. I wasn't able to get close seats for the LA show, so I passed. My hope is that they'll play someplace closer to my neck of the woods and I'll be able to snap up decent tickets in due time. *crosses fingers*

Etc.: My sister, her bf and their dog are in the process of moving out. With my parents' help, they've been taking things up to their new place all day, so I've been home with the pup. Though I did escape for a few minutes to go to the fabric store just to see what they had. I need good scraps for the headbands that I plan to decorate.

Last night I finally resumed my nocturnal walks. Only a short stretch of the neighborhood, but enough to get the blood moving again. It must be about a mile because I can finish it in 15-20 minutes.

So tomorrow's the big event for the Haunted Mansion's 40th anniversary at Disneyland. Not only do I have to work, I couldn't afford to participate in any of the festivities. *sigh*
But my buddy T is going and has vowed to bring me a souvenir when he comes to town on Wednesday.

Lately I've been having serious creative frustrations. I have an overwhelming desire to start writing again but am at a loss for inspiration, as has been the case for years. I'd love to try my hand at writing songs. The problem is I'm crap at it. At least, I'm no melodist. I can arrange and flesh out an existing melody, but can't create them to save my life. I just don't have the knack. Even words don't come to me like they used to. Oy.

Anyway, my baked potatoes are done. Ciao!

Hair: CWC with the usual leave-in's. Smooth, clean, ahhh... Smiley But of course I had to forget a hairtie and my pony flip tool, so the hair stays down until I get home. Unless I get sick of it and put it up in a pencil bun.

Music: US dates for the Bunnymen tour were released early this morning. They aren't coming closer to me, so I'd have to see them in LA. We shall see...

Etc.: Dear God, I have a killer stomach ache right now. Sad

Now this statement makes me bring up the point, why bother exercising then? Or wearing makeup? Or putting yourself together to go out? All those could be seen as vanity. Exercising is for health, silly. For me, it keeps my heart and lungs in shape in addition to everything else, plus it really cuts down on things like depression, stress and anxiety, which have plagued me throughout my life. Tongue
As for makeup, I've already mentioned that it's purely a creative effort on my part. Most women wear it for vanity, but I'm not most women. Wink And putting onesself together, well...it's fun. I've collected a good many interesting pieces for my wardrobe and enjoy any opportunity to wear them out. There's no sense in having something if you can't use it. Hair: Going out after work means I didn't have time for a Wednesday WTC, so I did the usual CWC routine instead. And the usual leave-in's. However, by the time I finally got around to combing the mess, the ends had gathered some nasty tangles. Tongue
Style du jour will be a flipped ponytail...out of sight, out of mind.

Music: Yesterday, Grateful Ed officially announced his departure from the band. Without him, we also lose John 3:16 since the two carpool together. Thus, the show scheduled for September 22nd has been cancelled. The fate of Picus Maximus is unknown at this point, but we will miss our wayward brothers and the chemistry that we all shared personally as well as musically.

In other news, I have just about finished a new song.

Etc.: My good friend T will be in town this evening, which is always fun times. He has some souvenirs from yesterday's Haunted Mansion-related event that he collected for me and he's mentioned going to dinner. Should be a gas, so long as we don't stay out too late.
