I totally agree.  Banks are machines that rip you off however and whenever they can.  I've had so many horrible experiences with banks.  It never mattered which one...they were all the same. Tongue

MichelleR: B of A is the absolute worst. I'm not surprised that you had dreadful experiences with them. I've read that credit unions can put holds on deposits, but the wait is usually shorter than with a bank. Chase's new policy is to put a hold on any check that doesn't come from a Chase bank, so if your payroll is through anyone but Chase, your deposit won't be processed until the next business day, and I'm only guessing that that doesn't include weekends. Technically, banks don't have to process a deposit until they absolutely must. The only way around any of that is direct deposit.

Quote:
Maybe we just need to go back to the days of stuffing cash into our mattresses. Wink

Grin Unfortunately, that would mean having to cash all of your checks though independent financial institutions, who would take a percentage.

LD: The same can be said of any major corporation, really. They all want your money. Some just appreciate your business more than others. Banks in particular are using sleazier methods these days because of the recession. They were desperate enough to take government bail-outs...why wouldn't they rob their customers?

Hair: CWC yesterday, with the only leave-in being my spray conditioner blend. I poured some Herbal Essences shampoo into my existing blend to thicken it up, which was only marginally effective. Undecided
It was hot yesterday and I knew I'd be slaving away in the bathroom all day, so I jut pinned my hair up and left it. It looked ridiculous, but it didn't matter. At night, I took it down and decided to experiment with hairspray...just at the roots for volume. Again, not very effective. Undecided My hair seems determined just to do what it does. No curl, no wave, no volume, no body...and no amount of tools or products can change that. Makes sense that my hair would be every bit as stubborn as I am. Roll Eyes

This morning saw another CWC with the usual leave-in's. Style will be up to whim, as my hair isn't dry yet and I don't know where I'll be later on.

In other news, I think I'll stop taking hair supplements altogether after the current bottle of Biotin is empty. I have never noticed any improvements on their part and would rather not waste my money on them since I'm generally healthy anyway.

Angel vs. Her Bank: ... Well, it seems I was able to make a withdrawal after all since the hold was removed. Just enough to survive the week...gas and whatnot. I don't get it, but I'm not going to question or even think twice about it at this point. They're still evil and I'm still switching.

Etc.: So after 10 hours and a hard day's sweat, the bathroom still isn't as clean as I'd like. A testament, surely, to Angel's OCD neat freak neurosis. Undecided It hadn't really been touched since my sister, her bf and their dog moved out and they're...not the tidiest of roommates. Tongue
This morning, I made sure to have a shower before my sis came back from riding and mucked it all up with horse nasty. *sigh*

The voice has returned and I suppose I'm as well as I'm going to get, but now it's Mother Nature's turn to inconvenience me. My complexion and figure are both spectacular wrecks. Tongue If it's not one thing, it's another. I think today would best be spent cruising to Sinatra, gadding about the mall and waiting for the right lyrics to strike. Whatever can make me forget about what I look like. Tongue

Hair: Clarified. Clean and light. Smiley Serum has been making the ends gummy lately, which causes tangles. Huh Tongue The opposite of what it's supposed to do. I don't get it.
Anyway, style will be a single braid, as always on clarifying days.

Angel vs. Her Bank: ... The battle wages on. My hope is that this nightmare will be over by Halloween.

Etc.: Has anyone seen the new MAC collection? O-M-G. ... There's one reason for Angel to save her pennies next month. Wink

My nails and shower stuff also got a dark overhaul this weekend. And at Target, I ran into one of my dearest friends from high school, whom I'd not seen since graduation. Hopefully, it won't be the last time.

On that note, I see that my decaf coconut chai has finished brewing, so I'm off to chug it and have a gander at the Liverpool Echo before my break.

Amor mucho!

I hope you get out of this bank situation in one piece.  My family's never had a good experience with any of the banks I know of in CA so I can't recommend one.  I'm really happy with the bank I've had for 11 years now.  I switched after another bank "robbed" me.  They were so shocked when my husband bailed me out and told me we were closing my account.  I think they thought I was an easy target because I was a young, "single" (we were still just dating), female.  They have the highest fees too of all the banks in this country and they make you pay for every little "service"!  That same bank that robbed me has been robbed by that Danish con who walked into an LA police department last year to turn himself in. Grin

Oh, this is your journal. Embarrassed

Drear: Sounds like your old bank got what was coming to them. Wink

Sakina: Muahahahahaaaa! Smiley

Hair: CWC + leave-in spray conditioner. Style is a single braid. Last night I ran a brush through my hair. I kind of miss my brushes... Undecided

Etc.: Well, the axe finally fell. Mother came home this morning as I was getting ready for work and announced that our positions had been dissolved. They also laid off the entire credit department. *sigh*
So I drove to the office for my exit interview and severance package, and to get a few things from my desk. I only just realized that I'd forgotten all of my tea. Sad

Upon returning home, I immediately applied for unemployment and sent out 4 résumés. Then I did a load of laundry and washed my car, which had been neglected too long. But God gave me a free day and suitable weather for the task, so I'd have been a fool not to use that. I just recently came back in and changed into some dry clothes. Between cleaning my bathroom over the weekend and washing my car today, my entire body is knackered. I'm looking forward to having dinner and hitting the hay.
Last night, I dreamt that I was in Liverpool. What I wouldn't give to have such a dream tonight.

As I was driving back from what is now my former place of employment, the most fitting song started playing:

That's life (that's life), that's what all the people say
You're ridin' high in April, shot down in May
But I know I'm gonna change that tune
When I'm back on top, back on top in June

I said that's life (that's life), and as funny as it may seem
Some people get their kicks stompin' on a dream
But I don't let it, let it get me down
'Cause this fine old world, it keeps spinnin' around

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king
I've been up and down and over and out and I know one thing
Each time I find myself flat on my face
I pick myself up and get back in the race

That's life (that's life), I tell you I can't deny it
I thought of quitting, baby, but my heart just ain't gonna buy it
And if I didn't think it was worth one single try
I'd jump right on a big bird and then I'd fly

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king
I've been up and down and over and out and I know one thing
Each time I find myself layin' flat on my face
I just pick myself up and get back in the race

That's life (that's life), that's life and I can't deny it
Many times I thought of cuttin' out but my heart won't buy it
But if there's nothin' shakin' come this here July
I'm gonna roll myself up in a big ball and die

My my

Sorry about your job.  Although, seeing that you didn't care for it much anyways, I'm hoping that this will be an opportunity to find some other job that you love.

All: Thank you for the support. Smiley I certainly hope that better things are in the works, but right now I'd settle for whatever pays the bills. Lord knows my last job didn't! Roll Eyes
And no, they won't mail my tea back, unfortunately. They probably don't even know it's there or that it belonged to me. Ah well.

Hair: Been doing CWC's for the most part. This will be the new wash method of choice since I no longer have free days to do deep conditioning treatments. Sad My hair will miss them, but I cannot do them with my parents around. They'd freak.

Yesterday, I attempted a new style that I found by pure coincidence on YouTube. I hadn't French braided anything in a good long while, so that part came out a little wonky. Not that it mattered really, since I was only going to the mall and not meeting the queen of England. This will definitely be one that I'd like to keep practicing.

This morning, I was a bit pressed for time, so I ended up just coiling and pinning my hair into a bun with a few of the ends sticking out.

Etc.: Had a meeting with a staffing company this morning (hence the time crunch) which ended up taking 2 hours. Tongue Apparently, I type 73 words per minute. They're going to e-mail me a keystroke test as well.
After that, I went to Godiva to redeem my monthly coupon. Free Godiva does indeed make everything better. Wink I'm in a more hopeful mood today.

The 'rents are in WA until Monday, so I basically have the house to myself. Maybe I'll pull out one of dad's guitars and have a go with it. Grin

All of this free time is messing with my head. It's the idleness, really. I get bored and restless quite easily. It would be a bit easier if I knew that my financial obligations would be met. It's that uncertainty that bothers me most.

The bank is still ungodly. They've buggered away over half of my severance package already. Angry Criminal sods.

Cute hairstyle.  I bet it looks awesome w/your length.  I want to try it, but with two braids.  Thanks for sharing that, MA.

Good luck w/the job search!!!

That's a cute style!  I want to learn to do the french braid at my crown, too.  I've tried it with my hair at my current length but with no experience, I'm not good enough even though I'm sure it can be done.  Maybe it will be easier when my hair gets longer.  Practice, practice, practice!
