Curlgirl: Thanx. Smiley No time for sitting around and panic won't pay the bills. My last job wasn't worth it anyway. The only option is to get back out there and find something else.
And I'm sure that style will look better on you than it does on me.

MichelleR: It helps to practice French braiding on other people (or dolls) before attempting one on yourself. But yes, practice makes perfect.

Sakina: It works well with the length, but looks a bit different on very fine hair. Undecided But I'm going to keep trying it anyway. And thanx...I'll need all the luck I can get!

Hair: This morning, I decided to clarify and then do a conditioning treatment. The latter will no longer be a regular part of my routine, so I must get accustomed to doing them when I can.
The spray conditioner blend has been my only leave-in for days now. At this point, I'm unsure of my hair's relationship with serum. Today's style is the one that I linked to. The French braid came out a bit tighter, but isn't taking well at the roots. And I still had to pin down the lumps. Roll Eyes Oh well. I'll probably wear it like this tomorrow as well...if I have time. Especially if I  have to be coated with sunblock. Tongue

Etc.: My friend T will be in town tomorrow, creating a welcome distraction from my unemployment woes. He said he wants to visit Old Town and maybe take in a movie. Guess I should check the local listings since I have absolutely no idea what's playing.

Nails are now an extremely dark shade of navy blue. In certain light, they look black...but blue enough that it shouldn't, say, offend any prospective employers. Roll Eyes I also did myself the courtesy of tossing the glitter topcoat. SO juvenile! Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to a touch of glitter here and there for effect on occasion, but not on a daily basis.

Curlgirl: You're welcome, love.

Hair: Got to do a WTC this morning before the 'rents returned home. Both of my treatments are now almost gone, and I suppose it's just as well. Sad Guess I'll have to get more dedicated to overnight treatments with my Suave conditioners.
Also, I've stopped using the diluted Pantene/TRESemmé/Herbal Essences shampoo blend as I believe it may be contributing to a dry patch of skin on the back of my neck. It seems to appear every time I use Herbal Essences. Angry So I've switched to full strength Volumizing shampoo for awhile, just to see what happens.

Yesterday's style was indeed that messy bun thing with the braid, like I'd intended (pix below). Today, it's a flipped ponytail.

Music: Special Ed and John 3:16 seem interested in rehearsing for another Picus Maximus show. Huh But there's conflict over who is available when. Our schedules are all quite different. Lizard scheduled us to play somewhere on the 8th. I don't even know where or if said show will even take place. But I've grown quite indifferent to it all. My heart isn't in it...not that it ever was.

Etc.: T showed up as planned yesterday afternoon and we went cruising around the county as usual. This time to Viejas casino and outlet center. He wanted to try the buffet (buffets are his thing), but the line for it was 2 hours long - literally - so we had dinner at Casa de Pico instead. Best Mexican in all of San Diego. Cool After that, we hit the Starbucks where elder goth K & I first met. I hadn't been back there since then, so it was good to have a fresh memory.
T took a few pix of my hair with his camera phone, which is a piece of crap:
... ...

He played with my handcuff bracelet while I sipped a pumpkin spice latte. Then he made an origami swan with the receipt (T is half Japanese). At some point during our outing, he also bought me a beautiful scented candle from Target.

We returned to my house after that and hung out with my sis and her dog for awhile, but after they left, T decided that he wanted to go to our usual coffee house for ice cream since it's open 24/7. Roll Eyes It was way crowded when we got there, so we didn't stay. He dropped me off at home and headed back to LA. When he got home just after 2 AM, he texted me, and I wished him a happy b-day. He turns 30 today.

The EDD awarded my unemployment claim, but it will be weeks before they send a check. With any luck, I'll have another job before then.

Weather wise, it has cooled down quite suddenly, dropping into the 70's during the day as opposed to the usual 90's-100's that we have this time of year. It gets downright cold at night, which is a lovely change. Perhaps we're shifting into our cold season early this year.

Your messy bun w/ braid looks really good.  I tried it yesterday, but now that I have face framing layers I'm going to have to take a bit more hair otherwise the braid doesn't reach all the way around my bun.  Undecided

What did you think of Target's Halloween offerings?  We've cooled down, too.  It was a shock to have to pull on the comforter overnight!  Yay.

Ooh,true that messy bun with a braid looks good!  Nice job!
That Pumpkin Spice is really good!  When C and I are out and stop by a Starbuck's, I get that made with Silk Soymilk(no whipped cream!) and it hits the spot!!!  Starbuck's is the only chain that serves Silk.  Don't know why Dunkin Doughnuts doesn't have it.  They lost my coffee business because of it.

Trisha: Thanks. Smiley

Curlgirl: Thanks, and I can't wait for them to start promoting peppermint mochas again. Wink

Sakina: Thanks. You probably won't have that problem once your layers are longer. Target - I pretty much react the same every year. I'm positively giddy when the Halloween merch comes out. There are always things that I like and things that I don't. And pull on the comforter? I've had to dig out the winter pj's and keep the electric blanket on! Grin

Hair: CWC...yesterday, today, etc. This is the method of choice most of the time. Products I'm currently using are Suave Naturals Ocean Breeze conditioner, Pantene Volume shampoo, which I've learned that I love, and a hodgepodge conditioner blend which will be gone soon.

This morning, I added some of my sister's Enjoy leave-in spray to my spray blend (shhhh, don't tell her Wink). I'm paranoid about running out of things before my first unemployment check arrives.

Yesterday's style was a single braid. Not sure what it will be today since I've only just woken up. I leave these things to whim, you know.

Music: Egad. My taste in music finally won my father's approval the other day when we carpooled to Lizard's place for practice and he recognized Sinatra in my stereo. He didn't mind at all that I'd borrowed 2 of his CD's and we sang along as we drove. He said something about that type of music enhancing my musical karma and causing the music gods to take notice and shine their rays of brilliance down upon me. Grin I can only hope, right?

The good vibes ended there, however. Practice was a disaster and tensions within the band were definitely evident. Everybody messed up and was ticked off at everybody else. We were nowhere near ready for a show in 3 days, and no one seemed to want to do one except Lizard. He finally called the thing off yesterday after my father gave him a talking to.

As for me, I've been keeping an eye out for other bands in need of a singer. And my father still wants me to sing with his band.

Etc.: Ah, the joys of unemployment. I'm ready to go on an axe murdering spree, I'm so bored! Tongue

Hair: CWC + leave-in spray. After it finished air drying, I combed it and left it down with a slim headband up front. That worked until the weather warmed up. Tongue Then I changed my shirt and put my hair into a rather high ponytail, divided it into 2 sections, then twisted and pinned them into place. That seems to be the best way to pull off this particular style.
Earlier today, while I was out, I found small, seamless hairties by Goody. I hadn't seen them around in forever and they were only $1.50 for a pack of 8, so I bought 4 packs. They're thicker than my current metal-free hairties, so they probably won't pull out as much (or hopefully any) hair when I take them out.

I also saw an old lady rocking Ian McCulloch's old hairstyle from the '80's. This was the second old lady that I've seen recently with this cut. Remind me to give him a good ribbing about that if I ever meet him in person. Haha. I love ya though, Mac. Your hair owns.

Etc.: The only thing worse than being unemployed, I've decided, is being unemployed with no leads. There haven't been any decent ones in 2 days, which means I haven't been able to send out any résumés. Sad I've been beside myself with worry for my future.

In other news, temps are in the 70's again this week, but humidity levels have been abnormally high. Our weather conditions at night are virtually identical to weather conditions in the UK during the day. I love that. And I love that it's getting dark earlier too. Wink

Smoke is in the air outside at the moment, which is typical this time of year. I wonder if our annual fires have started.

Trisha: *hugs*

Curlgirl: They do? Shocked

Hair: CWC again. The conditioner blend finally ran out, so I'll be using Pantene Volume for awhile. Now my S&C match again.
Leave-in's today were the spray conditioner blend and Sunsilk volumizing cream, which is total crap. I really should toss it since it was a Christmas gift from 2 years ago and does absolute naught for my roots. Just one more bottle of useless hanging around.
    Style is a single braid.

Etc.: No leads today either. Whatever. I'll have unemployment coming in a few weeks, which should tide me over. For now, I'm going to look at it like a partially paid vacation and try to live every day like it's a weekend. A very long weekend. And I'll try to appreciate the free time. This would be a great time to focus on writing, be it songs, poetry or total bs.

No fires yet.

Curlgirl64: "Yyyyyeah, I'm gonna have to...disagree with you there." -Office Space Wink

Hair: Had to do a W-CWC yesterday to get all of the gunk out, and it still probably wasn't as effective as it could've been. Tongue My sister's Enjoy leave-in spray seems to prevent my shampoo from lathering, and I don't think the root lifter helped either. So I might do a vinegar rinse this morning and not bother with leave-in's at all. Perhaps I'll replace the leave-in blend that I have. We'll see.

Yesterday I also learned that looser braids come unraveled in about 3 seconds in my hair. The single braid is far from my favourite style anyway. I only do them when I can't think of anything else.

Etc.: Time for the ritual matching mani-pedi. Since no one seems to be calling me in for an interview, I think I'll take my chances and use black. Roll Eyes

Doth my eye deceive me? Rain in the forecast this week? Can it be? Shocked

I bet someone calls you just after you do this.  Sounds to me like washing your car when it's bright and sunny and then it rains the next day!  Cheesy
