Sounds like an absolutely fab time!

Reg. music.  I had asked my dad for so much music last Christmas I was feeling guilty and thought I should narrow my list down to the ones I'm least likely to find here in Denmark so Jo Stafford 4CD box became a higher priority plus I knew exactly which of her song covers I absolutely had to have.  Dad's been so generous this year that I probably won't mention a lack of Sinatra in my music collection until next year or when I think I can justify buying some myself. Smiley

Actually, I listen more to Patti Page, Peggy Lee, Connie Francis, Dusty Springfield, Dion Dimucci, Ricky Nelson, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Darin, Bobby Rydell, Bobby Vee, Bobby Vinton (my dad just calls them "The Bobbies") The Limeliters and The Platters.  I haven't even listened to Jimmie Rodgers yet. Embarrassed

I have to have my monthly Dion DVD fix so I've yet to watch the DVD with Ricky Nelson and another one with Diana Ross that my dad sent as well.  I never said I was a Diana Ross fan. Huh  Uhmm...I was modifying something I was writing to you here because pm doesn't work for me, then my mom called and now I've lost the thread.....

So this is the new LongLocks structure, eh? Interesting... Undecided

Well, let's see...I returned from housesitting Tuesday night and am grateful to be back "home." My relatives left me with their dying cat, who of course passed away on my watch. What a fiasco that was. They gave me an extra $40 for my troubles, and they have a new kitten already. Undecided

Hair-wise, I'm still hangin' in. It's finally beginning to feel long, I mean in the sense that it once was. How sad that it's taken almost a decade to get back to that. Sadder still, perhaps, that once it gets there, I'm just going to cut it back to BSL anyway. Roll Eyes

Clarified today with Herbal Essences Drama Clean shampoo, a DWV rinse and Herbal Essences Hello Hydration conditioner. No leave-in's, single braid.

In other news, we've been having a cold front. It got very cloudy and even drizzled a few days ago. Temps are in the 40's at night, so I finally have to pull my sweats out for nocturnal power walks.

The haunted house project in Point Loma has been given the green light and I'll be there tomorrow building the sets as well as working it Halloween night. They're even paying me. Wink

Missing the Bunnymen show on Saturday was rough, and certainly not an experience I care to ever repeat. Perhaps they'll play in town next time they're out this way.

It's officially been a month since I was laid off. No new job prospects...nor have I seen a dime from unemployment. *sigh* In the mean time, I'm learning (once again) to embrace frugality, which is actually kinda cool in ways.

That's all for now. Love to all.

I'm so sorry that you had the trama of your relative's dying cat. Sad  That I'm sure was an event that you would love to forget......immediately.
How do you like the Hello Hydration?  I'm still using it as a leave-in and it's working just fine for me.  I might use it as a rinse conditioner the next time to see how my hair likes it that way.

I am sorry about the cat dying while you were there.  It's always hard to lose a pet, even if it is not yours.

Curlgirl64: You know, I'm not sold on Hello Hydration. It smells nice and everything, but overall, it just seems like something's missing. I have no idea what though.
Also, I'm wary of using it regularly because heavily fragranced S&C's (especially HE) really irritate my skin.
Might I ask how on earth you use it as a leave-in? I would think that that would have to be a major dirt magnet. Tongue

Melusine & MichelleR: Thanx, ladies. The worst part of it was finding her after she ran away to die and was picked up by the local animal shelter. They were honestly one of the most unhelpful organizations I have ever dealt with! Angry

Isabelle: *hugs* Thanx, chica.

Hair: More CWC's for awhile with Suave Kids spray conditioner as the only leave-in. Since I've been home from housesitting, I can't seem to find my Pantene strengthening spray. Undecided D'oh! But I like the Suave spray because it's oil-free and apple scented. Smiley

Right now, I'm using Suave Refreshing Waterfall Mist light conditioner and don't dig the scent as much as I thought I would. It's alright though because I bought it more for the bottle anyway. Roll Eyes Oy, my bottle obsession...

Style wise, my hair is done differently pretty much every day, which I rather like. I'm getting used to doing a variety of easy styles instead of just relying on the same old single braid all the time.
Yesterday, it was pinned up in a partial bun with a few inches of the ends left out at the top to fall wherever they wanted. I was complimented on it by someone I barely knew.

To state the obvious, it's Halloween and I'm working the haunted house tonight after helping set it up all yesterday. I've been assigned the role of "crazy lady," so my hair will be done accordingly. Cheesy Last night, my sister asked, "Ooh, can we give you crazy lady bum hair??" (bum as in homeless, not rear end) and I said, "Please do!"
So God only knows what's in store for it today, but it will most likely involve a lot of product and maybe a little cold shot action with the blowfryer. Embarrassed It's one day out of the year, so my hair will survive, and I'm certainly going to try to avoid teasing at any cost!

Etc.: As for my costume, I still haven't decided. Granted, it probably won't matter much what I wear because I won't be very visible. However, I do know exactly what my makeup will look like.

When I got home last night, I saw that my first unemployment check had arrived. Yays. So I'm off to the bank this morning.

Happy Halloween, everybody!

Surprisingly it is not a dirt magnet.  I'm following the Tightly Curly method and your hair is sopping wet when you load this conditioner in it.  Get your hair out of the way,(seperated in two or more buns) to finish your shower and when you get out of the shower you're sopping wet,not your hair.  Then you use a Denman brush to comb out your hair from bottom to top.  Pretty much all the conditioner comes out or is absorbed by your hair when you are done combing it and texturizing it.
It's a very interesting process.  Works for anybody,so the site says.

Curlgirl64: That does indeed sound interesting. Huh
And rather complicated.

Hair: Egad. Yesterday, I ended up doing a W-CWC with Herbal Essences S&C and my Suave light conditioner. I guess I figured that my hair was going to be a mess that night anyway, so it didn't need to look like a million bucks, just be clean so it could stand on end. I used my Suave leave-in as usual, and then the drama began.
The goal was huge, scary hair...oh, the horror. As much as I didn't want to tease my hair, I teased...and blowfried...and sprayed (we're talking Aqua Net) like it was 1986. After so much work, my hair had lift at the sides but not on top. It was poofy and full of tangles - even more so after running, dancing and jumping around all night in coastal humidity. It was one night of the year to encourage it to be as messy and crazy as possible. At one point, I held the sides up like Theda Bara:
...
At other times, I would ruffle it, toss it or let it fall limply as it wanted.

This morning, I did a WCC with a DWV rinse and used my Suave leave-in afterwards. Even that didn't get all of the tangles out. I had to work through them with a comb after my hair was dry, and the tangled parts came out as rough and kinked as steel wool. Angry
Fortunately, I found a bottle of EVOO in my relatives' kitchen and used some of its contents to make the frazzled parts behave. Then, I wrapped the whole mess into a pencil bun since I didn't have any other hair toys available to me at the time. But now I'm sporting the usual single braid.

This evening, I hit the grocery store and picked up a bottle of ACV (I'm going through my DWV rather quickly) and decided to try my luck with ELOO.

Halloween: The haunted house went well, save a few sodding idiots. Mostly teenagers who wanted to act oh-so-tough. There was also an older fellow whom I jumped out at from a window to scare him, and he then turned around, reached through the window and started grabbing me. Shocked Angry

Many people passed through. It's speculated that this year saw the highest attendance yet, and I suppose that's exactly what my relatives wanted for the final year. To go out with a bang.

A lot of people worked it too, including my relatives, friends of theirs and students from the area. It was the first time I'd ever been paid to do it. Easiest money I ever made. Wink

This afternoon, I went back to Point Loma to help tear everything down and clean up. Much of the cast from last night was there, excluding the students, and it was kind of refreshing to allow them to see me without makeup smeared all over my face.
A few people didn't even recognize me last night, and an 18 year old girl guessed me to be about her age. Grin

Etc.: The 'rents are at Disneyland tonight and tomorrow. My sister, her bf and I were going to meet them there just for the evening, but it didn't happen, and I suppose it's just as well. Between being so busy for the past few days and working out a bit this morning, my entire body is knackered and sore. Think I'll hit the hay early tonight. ...

I'm late, but I'm sorry about your experience finding the deceased cat while house sitting.

The guy grabbing you was so not cool.  I hope that he didn't hurt you.  Makes me wonder if he knew that it was a "person" he was grabbing, as opposed to an automated prop?  Huh

Reading through your last three entries.  That was sure quick they replaced that cat.  I'd have felt awful too if it had happened while I was caring for the cat even if it wasn't my fault.  I know it doesn't help your overall unemployement situation but I hope it's good that you were paid something.  I don't know your situation, do you know why you haven't received anything from unemployment yet?

Glad it generally went well for Halloween.  One's gotta wonder why those teenagers bothered to go if they're just going to act tough. Huh  I'd be flattered if someone thought I was 18. Smiley

Maybe not.  Maybe he just felt it was his right after you chose to jump out at him.  Again;  Who knows what goes on in some people's minds. Huh

They're not going to do the haunted house anymore?  Aww, I always look forward to your annual haunted house adventure.
Sad

I'm glad you finally got an unemployment check--I was getting concerned.

Trisha: So was I! Hopefully another one will be on the way shortly. My bank is being totally ridiculous. Angry

And no, this was supposedly the final year for the haunted house. Supposedly.

Drear: Without speaking ill of my relatives, I'll only say that pets are of no consequence to them. When one dies, they replace it like it's nothing. Angry

It was flattering. That's the youngest I've been mistaken for in a good while. Grin

La Diosa: Thanks.
And the buggering fool knew what he was doing. My cousin said that he'd have used his airsoft on the guy, had he been aware at the time.

Hair: CWC with an ACV rinse before the final conditioning. Leave-in's were Suave Kids spray conditioner on the length and ELOO on the ends and underside.
Today I finally had time to measure, and got 27.75". Not bad, I guess. Slowly but surely inching closer to waist length.
After measuring, I wove my hair into a single braid...which is almost a shame because it's insanely soft today. No rough or dry patches to speak of.

Etc: A pic of the group from Halloween:

...
