Have decided not to do the recital.  It is on a Wed. morning, and after teaching a nite class on Mon, and being on campus from 7:30am to 10PM on Tues, I am just too tired.  Not to mention that Tues evening is Chorale rehearsal and my voice is tired on Wed, too.  Perhaps, I will do one in the fall semester.

Good you're listening to yourself.  I admirer that you're able to do all the things you do though.

Thank you, Drear.

Couldn't stand the tangles and static, so shampooed and conditioned this am with vinegar rinse.  The static and tangles are pretty much gone, but my hair is almost limp.  I'm due for color on Sat, so that is normal.  So, I guess I'll wear it up with a Tony Pony tomorrow.

After my hair being limp on Tues, on Wed, after rinsing in the shower, it was fine.  Today started with it down, but put in up in a claw clip, after I got to school.  Still having problems with the ends tangling, so tonite I oiled the ends, which I haven't done in weeks.  That really helped the tangles.

Was watching QVC tonite and saw WEN hair products.  Has anyone tried them?  It isn't really a shampoo, more of a conditioning treatment, but you aren't supposed to need shampoo if you use this system.  I am tempted to try it, but at $50, that's quite an investment.  One comment that caught my attention was that protein conditioning treatments feel good at first, but dry your hair in the long term.  That may be the problem with the cholesterol treatment I tried.  I won't do that again any time soon.

I think he has an infomercial where you can get smaller sizes for $30 Undecided, not sure on the price, but it's less expensive than QVC.
I was tempted too, but funds are needed to be spent elsewhere right now!

Thanks, Curlgirl, but I think I will take a pass for now.  I am really satisfied with what I am using now, but we all wonder if a different product will give us glorious hair, dont' we.

Got my hair colored and trimmed Sat.  Kirsten said the ends were somewhat dry, but that could be from wearing my hair down most of the time and friction on coats, etc.  I told her I had tried the cholestrol treatment and she said that is one of the worst things for fine, wavy hair.  She asked where I had gotten the idea and I couldn't squeal on Debbie, so I just said I read about it and thought I'd try it.  So I will wait 'til the weekend, then do a deep conditioning treatment and hope that helps.  I had quit oiling my hair because it felt too heavy, but have gone back to oiling just the ends the nite before I shampoo.  At least it makes it easier to comb.

Now that the top has grown out, my hair looks and feels thicker and most of the time I am very happy with it.

Nice to hear from you both, Curlgirl and Drear.

Last nite I was visiting some webpages featuring women with really long hair (JJs longhair-60" and a link on her page to woman with 9' of hair!!) and feeling so envious.  I was thinking what I would give up for waist-length, thick hair.  I would give up sex; I would be willing to live in this house, which I really want to be out of; I would even give up chocolate.  I wouldn't care if it took all day to dry; I just want it.  I am really sick of hearing women with long, thick hair complaining about how long it takes to dry.  Just shut up and count your blessings.

I have been at 24-25 in. since last July and very disappointed that I don't have any more length than that.  I had really hoped that my hair would grow longer than that.

I agree.  I keep having to cut my hair because my right side is shorter than my left.  My hair would be so much longer if that weren't the case.  I'm with you, as long as it's healthy, it can take forever to dry or whatever.  I just want long thick hair.

Thank you, Curlgirl and Goddysey, I was just feeling sorry for myself.  I am at that time of year when I shed prodigiously, at least it seems that way to me, and have to keep reminding myself not to panic.  Last year I did panic and started slathering it with oil, and conditioning every day, which just made it limp.

My hair is layered, and the top and sides are growing quite nicely, but I am just not gaining any overall length.  Sigh.

I teach communication theory and realize that the women complaining about how long it takes to dry their hair are reverse bragging; i.e., it would be rude and conceited to talk about how beautiful their hair is, so they complain about it, instead.  Either communication scenario accomplishes the same thing: getting people to look at and admire their hair.

I'm with you -- as someone who now has thin hair I also want them to shut up.  And I think you're right about reverse bragging.  I still want them to shut up, though.   Grin

Did a deep conditioning treatment on Fri and am very happy with the results.  My hair is full and wavy, and has body.  Of course, it is starting to get humid, which makes my hair bushy, but I don't care: it looks fuller.  The shedding seems to be diminishing, too.  It seemed to be a shorter period this year.  I hope that portends more growth.  We'll see.

Shampooed this am.  Only the 2nd day after I shampooed last, but my hair was just limp when I got up.  Normally I shampoo every 3rd or 4th day and rinse my hair in the shower in the am.

Our first concert is Sat nite at St. Timothy's Church.  We are doing Carmen, the whole thing, and a few other pieces.  The director had a thing for minor chords when he picked out this music.  We had the first dress rehearsal last nite with the Chamber Singers, the second piano and the clarinets.  It went pretty well, but some of us think we need at least 2 or 3 more rehearsals before taking it out in public.

My voice teacher has offered me a chance to participate in the recital for her private students.  I will probably do it.  I think.  I have until Tues to make up my mind.
