I signed up to do the recital.  Gulp.  However, I did the song in a performance class today and got compliments, so it should go okay.

We did the first concert at a church last Sat and it went wonderfully.  The acoustics there were superb.  The director was very pleased.  The second  concert will be next Sat in the school theater.  The acoustics aren't as good, but I hope it goes well.

I am thinking about taking voice lessons with another teacher during the summer.  I have the name of a woman who one of the choir members is taking lessons with and she is very pleased, so I might do it.

My hair has been behaving well.  The sides and top have grown out enough that my hair seems thicker.  I actually have a pretty full pony tail, when I put it up.  I have been wearing it down most of the time.  When it gets hot here, I will put it up most of the time because I can't stand having it on my neck when it is really hot.

Still using the Burt's Bees and happy with it.  Have been doing deep conditioniny treatments every 2 wks. and have gone back to oiling the ends the nite before I shampoo.  I have been wondering about some kind of leave-in treatment, but my hair is so fine, I am afraid anything I put on it would weigh it down.  At least it is shiny and seems healthy.

Well, the semester is over, thank heaven.  Just finals next week and getting grades submitted.  I talked with the woman who schedules class and won't have a nite class next fall, which should help.  It wasn't bad when I was teaching on Wed nite, because I didn't have to be there until 1pm, and on Thurs I was thru at 4pm altho' I had to be there at 7:30am.  Teaching on Mon nite, followed by a 15-hr. day on Tues, starting at 7:30am, just wore me out.  By Thurs, I was almost a zombie.

The weather has been really nice, cool nites and sunny days.  We actually had spring, which is a rarity in Chicago.  We usually have winter, late winter, late, late winter, cold rain all April, 2 days of Spring sometime in May, then 90 degrees with 90% humidity until Sept.  It has been a pleasure.

I am wondering where everyone is.  Godyssey and Drear seem to be on vacation, I guess.  I keep hoping that my husband will keep a job long enough to earn more than 2 weeks vacation per year.   Roll Eyes  I am not counting on it, however.

It is cloudy and chilly today.  We are having April's weather in May.  Typical Chicago.  It's supposed to be rainy all week.  Very depressing.

We did the last concert on Sat nite.  Got a standing ovation, which is the first in my memory, altho' I have only been singing with the chorale for 3 semesters.  I  asked some other members who have been singing longer than I have and they said it was a first for them, too.

Did a deep conditioning treatment on Sun.  Am still shedding, but I refuse to worry about it.  This is normal for me in the spring, and the ups and downs of the temps have something to do with it, I am sure.

Saw an ad for Kronos products, does anybody know anything about them?  They had an offer for a free trial of all the products, just $4.50 shipping and I am tempted to try them.

I am wondering if everyone is mad at me for something.  Haven't heard from anyone in quite a while.

Kronos...the only thing I could tell you about them is that they're insanely expensive. Shocked And the conditioners are smaller than the shampoos. What's with that? Huh

It's great to hear that it went so well with the chorale and that your hair's well behaved. Smiley

Thank you, Curlgirl, Drear and Angel.  I really was feeling a little lost.  I think it's the rotten weather.  We're having rain and 40 or 50 degrees and that is really chilly.  I did a pedicure (Dutch tulip by OPI, the loveliest red), got to wear sandals one day, and have been back in boots ever since.  When it's less than 50 degrees when I am leaving at 7am, I am certainly not wearing sandals.  At least the polish won't chip, so I might get an extra week out of it.

Have been making jewelry again.  I am doing necklaces with offset centerpieces that really look sharp.  One is a single strand going down to a large flat oval agate bead, then 2 strands coming from the bead to the opposite end of the necklace.  The big bead is shades of green with a red/orange vein.  I used green aventurine, peridot and carnelian beads with it and the whole thing really looks sharp.

I am doing a recital on Fri nite.  I will sing A Memory by Rudolph Ganz.  It isn't a long piece, but pretty nice.  I am not particularly enamored of it, but it suits my voice.  So I will be on stage no more than 5 minutes total.  My voice teacher suggested it, and I told it was against my better judgement, but I would do it.  So wish me luck!

The recital is over and went very well.  The little girl sitting next to me said I had a pretty voice and I got compliments from a few others, including my voice teacher's husband, a musician himself.  Of course, I don't remember a thing about it.  But it was fun and I will do it again.  I never in all my days pictured myself singing on a stage, just me and the piano, in front of an audience.  I think I am stunned.  I want to do it again!

Heh heh, yep. That's how it goes. Pretty soon you'll be sauntering onstage like it's nothing, knowing and owning the routine. Or not. Whichever. Roll Eyes Congrats, Mel.

*Clap, clap!*  It's great you feel that way.  When someone has an experience like yours that's so positive and confidence boosting I just feel so happy even though we've never met. Smiley

Thank you, Angel and Drear, for the props.  I really liked your comment, Angel, made me grin.

Speaking of the recital, I woke up that morning with a little bit of a sore throat, but it went away.  Felt okay Sat, not so good Sun, but was going to the International Gem & Jewelry Show, so took some aspirin and felt ok.  (Bought 3 lines of emerald beads for multi-strand necklace; it will be gorgeous!).

Woke up Mon with a sore throat and cold.  The first day of the summer semester.  I teach from 9-12:45am, have Lab from 2-5pm, and teach again from 6:15 to 10pm.  Was exhausted when I got home and felt like hell.  Tues had to cancel Lab in the am, but managed to teach my 1-4:30 class.  Wed taught the 9am class, came home and lay down to take a nap, but woke up an hour later choking on the post-nasal drip.  Managed to teach my nite class, but let them go early because I couldn't stop sneezing.  Called the dr. this am and have an appt for tomorrow as the virus has mutated into a bacterial infection and hasn't yet decided whether to attack my sinuses or bronchal tubes.  My money is on bronchitis.  Taught my 1pm satellite class and stopped at the main campus on the way home to file a grade change.  My throat is really sore and I expect I will have laryngitis by tomorrow.

I am exhausted and going to bed.  More later, when I feel better.
