I
ck. Feel better soon. Sad

A good sore throat remedy for singers is gargling warm water with sea salt. You'll also probably want to keep cough drops handy for when you have to teach.

Thank you, Sakina, Angel and Drear, for the (metaphorical) tea and sympathy.  I am feeling somewhat better.  Saw the doc, actually the physician's assistant, today and bronchitis it is.  I am on antibiotics for the next 10 days, and am trying a new cough suppressant.  She said it doesn't work for everyone, but might for me.  I think it does help; I don't seem to be coughing as much or as hard.

Finally feeling better, altho' still very tired and coughing somewhat.  I can't believe that I taught all my classes last week, comparing how I feel now to how I felt last week.  I was a mess.  I only get these respiratory things about once a year, on average.  Last time was a year ago Jan.  Fortunately I have been going to the same medical practice for about 10 yrs, so it's all in my records and they don't argue with me when I say I have an infection.  The PA said I was very healthy, despite the infection.  I told her I would probably die of a heart attack or stroke sometime in my 80s or 90s if I follow the rest of my family.  My mom is going on 80, looks 15 yrs younger  and is still active and driving, altho she scares me sometimes.  She just replaced her garage door because she backed into it.  Knowing her, she put the car in reverse and tromped on the gas.  When my sister told me what she had done, I almost fell off the chair laughing.  I could just picture the size of dent in the door.  Anyway her oldest sister is 88 and healthy as a horse, so I guess there is hope for me.

I'm glad you're feeling better. I know the value of using a medical practice where they know you well.

Well, I am still coughing, but it is a dry cough, mostly irritation, I think.  I take the last of the antibiotics tomorrow, and hope I will not feel so tired after that is done.  I was thinking that when I was younger and had one of these really bad respiratory infections, I would feel really awful for a week, then all of a sudden, it was over and I felt fine.  Now it takes a couple of weeks of gradually getting better, if not 3 or 4, until I feel fine.  However, when I was younger I would stay bed for at least five days, now I keep going to work until I absolutely can't get out of bed.  The day this hit me was the first day of classes for the summer semester, and I couldn't not be there.  And it was a 14-hr. day, which didn't help matters.

Got my hair trimmed and colored today.  My hairdresser said to stop using the claw clips as I am getting some breakage in the center back.  Shit.  If it's convenient, it's bad for my hair.  I will either have to shampoo more often, or wear it up and use hairspray.  Damned if I do and damned if I don't.

My hair was 25" before I got it trimmed, now it's back to 24.5.  My spring shed was prodigious.  My husband thinks it was because I was so sick.  My hair still looks as full as normal, but I have tons of new growth coming in, varying from 4" to .5".  It makes ringlets around my hair line, so if I want to put my hair up I have to clip my hair flat to my scalp while it dries, and plaster them with hairspray to get them to lay down.  I mean they stick out like little springs, and since my hair is fine, very skinny springs.  Smiley  I look like a being from outer space.  It's good that visible hairpins are trendy right now.

I was watching tv late last nite and saw an informercial about Wen products.  It looked interesting.  Has anyone tried them?

Well, we are back.  We left Wed. afternoon to drive to Annapolis for his mother's interment at Arlington National Cemetery.  His dad's ashes are interred there, so Kay was interred with him.  We drove to Toledo, OH on Wed, and from there to Annapolis on Thurs.  Got in about 6pm and went to his sister's house for dinner and to see everybody.  We actually stay in the guesthouse of the Bay side property belonging to friends of his sister and her husband.  It's really cute, furnished with 19C antiques and has a view of the water.  The ceremony was at 9:30am Fri and was very nice.  Weather was gorgeous, sunny, altho' humid and got to 90 degrees later that day.  Visited with family and we all went to dinner Fri nite.  Got up Sat am and were on the road about 10am, got to Toledo about 8pm.  Left at 11am Sun and got home about 3pm.  I did most of the driving on the way home since my husband picked up the same virus I had 3 wks using the computer provided by the hotel and was sicker than a dog.  He didn't work today, but is feeling better and wil go to work tomorrow.

Right now I am so furious with his boss I could kill him.  Will was supposed to get away early and we had planned to be on the road by 4pm.  His boss dreamed up a project and told Will it had to be done by Fri so he could see on Mon.  The asshole is on vacation this week and won't be back in the office until next Mon.  When Will explained why he needed to leave early, his boss said, "Oh, yeah, you're doing that Arlington thing."  Shocked

When he told me that, I was instantly furious.  If that man had been in front of me, I would have killed him.  Angry  I didn't realize until yesterday that what infuriated me was not the unfairness and insensitivity of the remark, but the disrespect of Will, his mother, his father and all the heroes and veterans buried at Arlington.  What a complete and total asshole.  I sincerely hope that something horrible happens to him.  If I have anything to do with it, something will, as I sincerely and deliberately cursed him.

The reason we drove is because Will is still not over the viral inner ear infection he had in November and until the dizzy spells are gone, he can't fly.  And his boss is the cause of the inner ear problems as he came to work very sick with flu and infected at least 6 people, my husband being one of them.  The flu led to the inner ear infection.  So while we were in Toledo, he used the hotel computer to check on the project his boss dreamed up and picked up a virus from the keyboard, which is also his boss's fault.  It has been many years since I have hated anyone as much as I hate his boss right now.

I am finally over the bronchitis and coughing and have my singing voice back after 3 wks.  So I guess I will call and schedule voice lessons for the rest of the summer.

Shampooed my hair in Annapolis and it looked beautiful.  The water there is so soft.  I am thinking of putting in a water softener.  I think I will price them later this week.

I'm sorry for the loss of your M-I-L.  Wow-your husband's boss really sucks.  How frustrating!

I'm glad you're feeling well enough to sing again.  I'm starting back up with lessons myself.

I put a filter on my shower head, which helps a ton.  I find that the water softeners that use salt dry my skin out really bad.

Your husband's boss lacks an empathy and sensitivity gene!

I'm sorry for yours and your husband's loss.  What a lovely place you got to stay in though.

My condolenses to you and your husband.
Your hubby's boss needs a course on sensitivity, tact, compassion and a few other qualities necessary to be considered human!  What a loser!

Thank you, Curlgirl, Sakina and Drear.  I am still simmering with rage.  I would like to gut that man with a dull knife and wrap his intestines around his neck to strangle him.  Hanging, drawing and quartering sounds good, too.  You should never enrage a Scorpio with a taste for horror movies.   Roll Eyes

So I have started singing again.  Right now I am learning Time to Say Goodbye, in Italian.  Apparently I am going to learn most of Sarah Brightman's music.  I like almost everything she does, and she sings in my range.  I get enraptured by one song and play it over and over until I learn it.  I have to buy the sheet music, so will probably do that Thurs or Fri.

You forgot tar and feather!

Yay singing!!  I've never sung a Sarah Brightman song.  I'll check her out on youtube.  I know I've seen her on PBS, but can't think of a specific song or sound.  Enjoy!

Time to Say Goodbye sung by Andrea Bucelli and Sarah Brightman is one of my all time favorite songs!!!  Both are excellent artists!

My sympathies on the passing of your MIL, dear.  I have a grandfather buried at Arlington; hope to visit him one day.  A plague upon your husband's boss!  What an uncouth jacka$$.   Angry
