Hair: CWC with Suave green apple conditioner and Pantene NF Smooth Vitality S&C. The latter is running out so I'm not sure it will last until the end of the week. What's a plan without a big ol' wrench thrown into the works?

Leave-ins were blended spray conditioner and ELOO. No style yet since my hair is still air drying, which could take awhile with all of this a/c, but I am not going outside today. Tongue

Etc.: It's currently 113°F...hotter than sodding Phoenix, AZ. Shocked Like having my own little plot in hell. ... One of the hills not far from my house caught fire yesterday leaving 40 acres of charred sticks and ash. I love SoCal. http://media.signonsandiego.com/img/photos/2010/09/25/Santee1_t593.jpg?f53c1bb70...

It's officially been a week since I drank rancid milk from Walmart and threw up everything but my toenails. Woohoo! Happy to report that I'm doing just fine. Want to lose a couple of pounds super fast? Get a raging case of food poisoning.

A new measure day in 4 more days, my lovelies. Wink

This is too funny.  My monster name is basilisk professor, I am a spring tree, my autumn personality is extreme and I am yin.  That is positively multi-personality schizophrenic.  Thanks for a chuckle.

Sorry about the extreme temps.  It always seems that we live in the climate we like the least.  Or is it that familiarity breeds contempt?

Hope you are recovered from the food poisoning. That really wipes you out.  Been there, done that a few years ago.  Looking back on it, I should have gone to the Emerg. Room.  I would have recovered sooner.

Melusine: Thanks - I have indeed recovered. All but the occasional vertigo that still seems to attack my head at random. It may be unrelated.

From the reports I've seen, SoCal should be nearing the end of its little heatwave. Hmm...gonna have to go with "we live in the climate that we like the least." I've never been a fan of hot, dry desert climates, yet I've lived (suffered) in one for 30 years. Tongue Circumstances have a way of keeping me there unfortunately.

Hair: Same routine, products and style as yesterday, though I used less ELOO today and it didn't seem to do my hair any favors. It now seems to tangle hopelessly whenever I leave it down, no matter which S&C I use. Undecided It is possible to prefer your hair long yet be sick of it at the same time?

Etc.: Well, after a cloudy, overcast day it's finally dark out. I may resume Halloween shopping or I may just call it a night. My skin looks horrendous enough that I'm embarrassed to be seen in public...and it had better fix itself by the time my friend T arrives for a visit on the 30th. You hear me, skin? That's 2 days. Get it together.

Hair: Detangled this morning first with my fingers and then a seamless comb. Next I decided to try a mayonnaise treatment (my parents' refrigerator only has light mayonnaise). The smell really put me off and it was nearly frozen. After getting it into the length of my hair and under an old shower cap, I turned the blowfryer on it for a few minutes.

After nearly 2 hours I finally washed it out. It's much easier to rinse out at first than ELOO but also kind of kills the lather of my shampoo.
Routine was a WCC today with Pantene NF Smooth Vitality S&C and Suave green apple conditioner.

Leave-ins were blended spray conditioner and ELOO; style is a bun with 2 bobby pins.

Etc.: The band is trying to schedule a practice for today but my father and I have both declined. He because he's taking my mother (and her 1964˝ Mustang convertible) to the last car show of the year in the next town over. Me because quite frankly I'd rather stab myself in the eyeball than rehearse for yet another sodding Tea Party rally that Lizard wants us to play. A sodding hour away. ...

Anyway, mon bon ami T will be in town tomorrow for a baseball game and wants to get together for pizza and coffee afterwards. However, with this heat I'm not sure that that's the smartest of plans. Salads and blended beverages at the coast instead perhaps? And of course I'll need to find something to wear... Undecided

Trisha: That's totally you, lady. Wink

Hair: Yesterday's twisted updo was a pain in the keister between barrettes not securing the ends and trying to pin the twisted parts around one of the gothy little hair accessories that I made. I had to be liberal with the ELOO and spray gel as well due to humidity. You best believe we straighties get frizz too!
Everything worked out well enough in the end, however, but I unfortunately didn't get any pix of the coif.

The objective this morning was washing out the tangled remains of said coif with a CWC. My Pantene NF Smooth Vitality conditioner is officially gone now and I had to supplement the last of it with Moisture Renewal. Tomorrow will be my last day with Pantene for the week.

Well, it's measure day. I'm up to 29.5" now - so close to reaching my long term goal! Trouble is the ends are now beginning to get in the way of my guitar. Undecided

Etc.: Weather has been especially wild lately. Yesterday we had huge bouts of rain with thunder, lightning and flash floods. Lovely to look at and listen to but it's still 80°F and dreadfully humid. More like FL than CA...but it did give me opportunities for photos like this:

...

That was just outside the restaurant where T & I had dinner. He didn't go to the game as planned but drove 3 hours into town anyway.
After that, I showed him our historical Presidio Park...at night, which sadly isn't as cool as it sounds.

...

Then we killed time while the mall closed. When one of the aggressive kiosk people accosted us, I dodged them but they snagged T easily and subjected him to a skincare consultation. Finally T has found a man shorter than himself. Don't they make a cute couple? Grin

...

Anywho, after being unable to find parking around T's favorite coffeehouse, we instead ended his visit at the Barnes & Noble café, discussing books we'd read (or in his case, didn't read) in high school.

Today my invalid claim letter arrived from EDD. A few days ago was the anniversary of my unemployment. Like I need some sort of official reminder. Cry
But it's a new month. An epic month. And things could always change.

Curlgirl: Indeed.

Hair: CWC with Pantene NF Smooth Vitality S&C - last time this week. Light conditioner is still Suave green apple.
Leave-ins were blended spray conditioner and ELOO as usual; style is a single braid.

Picked up a 64 oz. bottle of ACV from Target this afternoon so tomorrow I'll clarify.

Etc.: T went to Pride Day at Disneyland this evening. Hope he's not planning to cheat on skincare man already. Grin

As for me I'm thinking of organizing my closet by color. *cheeky grin*

You Are a Green Pumpkin

...

You are easy going, thoughtful, and content with who you are. People may not recognize your uniqueness, but you know how special you are.
You believe that life's too short to care about what others think. You just try your best to be yourself, and you figure that is good enough.

You are a bit of an introvert. You are the most interesting companion you know, so it's hard for you to want to be all that social.
You enjoy the company of others, but you don't like small talk or gossip. You rather discuss ideas or dreams than superficial topics.

Hair: CWC with Suave green apple conditioner and Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly S&C. Blegh! Tongue Even with leave-in spray conditioner and serum, my hair is still slightly gummy and quite tangle prone. Herbal Essences just doesn't cut it...I'm going back to Pantene tomorrow.

On that subject, I've decided to just keep experimenting with different Pantene products and figuring out what works and what doesn't. Eventually the lines and formulas will change again so the smart thing to do is just roll with it. They will always make good and bad products.

Etc.: We got a little more precipitation today. Not rain, but enough drizzle from the thick, gray clouds to create runoff from the roofs and small puddles on the ground. Temps were apparently no higher than 70°F and I put on a long sleeved shirt before going out this afternoon. It's impossible to keep me indoors on a gray day. Cheesy We're supposed to get actual rain by Wednesday. So stoked.

New manicure today. Color is midnight magic by Cover Girl.

Over the weekend I made $40 at the swap meet. So far it's bought new Pantene goodies, glittery black rose hair clips, a black lace choker, and a few new makeup items among other things.
My renewed unemployment claim arrived by mail today as well. Good to know that I'll be financially sound for a little while longer.

Anyway, now I must get back to cleaning the vintage tea sets that my mother had brought down from the rafters.

Thanx, Trish. Smiley

Got up this morning and checked job listings. Send out one résumé. Then went for a walk in the rain. Well...it wasn't raining, but the air was cold, the sky was heavy with gray clouds and everything was wet. I hadn't been for a power walk in forever, but these old thoroughbred legs soon found their stride. Now I have shin splints. Undecided

Returning home, I jumped in the shower and tried to recover my hair with a CWC - using Pantene products this time. Nature Fusion Smooth Vitality shampoo and Classic Care conditioner. The latter is definitely too light for my hair.

Leave-ins were blended spray conditioner and a little more ELOO than usual to combat frizz. Style is a bun. There's also just a touch of aloe gel here and there to hold things in place. Not sure yet if I'll toss my Herbal Essences spray gel.

Is anyone else's grocery store selling pumpkins yet? Ours is! ... Encouraging, although I seem to be even more excited about Christmas and all the frozen fineries of winter.

Well the day that my friend T has been dreading for weeks has finally arrived. He turns 31 today. Naturally I had to tease him about retirement. Happy birthday, you old relic. ...

In 3 months and 3 days it will be my turn...speaking of winter's awesomeness. Cool

You Are 55% Witch

You've got some pretty witchy stuff going on.
Even if you're not a witch, you've got to admit that you're a little freaky.

Hair: Blegh! Somehow I knew that loading my hair with ELOO an hour before washing it was a bad idea but I did it anyway. Embarrassed Of course it was only after a WCC + the usual leave-ins that I realized not all of the oil had washed out. A single braid was the method of choice for hiding the grease. Tongue

Tomorrow I'll do a COW with the Suave pomegranate splash conditioner that I just bought and see if that helps. Gah, me and my bright ideas.

Etc.: The band is getting together tomorrow night for one last rehearsal before the Tea Party rally. Naturally I've been keeping a safe distance and politely refusing to get involved since rolling my eyes that hard makes me dizzy.
I'll check back with them after they're done waving flags and playing patriotic.

Temps are supposed to be on the rise between tomorrow and the weekend. Just when I was getting used to pulling long sleeve shirts out of the closet. Sad More rain please! More clouds!

You Are The Exorcist

...

You think there is nothing scarier than the idea of Satan. After all, no one's more freakier than him, right?
The idea of having a demon inside you (or someone you're close to) gives you goosebumps. It's crazy to imagine such evil in human form.

You believe that there's nothing more frightening than the things we don't understand. And clearly, the supernatural is one of those things.
You do think that there are forces of good and evil in this world, and it makes you shudder to think what the evil is capable of!

Hair: COW with new Suave pomegranate splash light conditioner. It helped with the oil situation but didn't get rid of it entirely, which is OK. If nothing else, clarifying on Sunday will do the trick.

Today's only leave-in was blended spray conditioner. I'm staying away from oils at least for awhile. Style is a somewhat awkward bun.

Etc.: Spotted this at the local Target:

...

Enter at your own risr? A random typo I can understand but how did this make it all the way to the sales rack? I sent this photo to the Ellen DeGeneres show.

Well, after a final sprinkling, the sun is back. Tongue We had a lovely little touch of fall while it lasted.

I have totally been waiting for this quiz:

You Are George Harrison

...

You are humble and happy to not boast about your accomplishments. You don't let your talent go to your head.
You are both studious and spiritual. You seek to both understand the world and give back to it.

You are very inward looking. That makes you a mystery to most everyone, including friends.
You aren't interested in the spotlight. You rather focus on your art - and making the world a better place.

Hair: CWC with Suave green apple conditioner, Pantene NF Smooth Vitality shampoo and Pantene Classic Care conditioner. Leave-ins were blended spray conditioner and serum. Still air drying at the moment.
Perhaps later I'll do another S&D to follow the long session I did yesterday.

Etc.: This morning I awoke to the uplifting sounds of my father ranting about all of the things he can no longer afford and calling his children deadbeats. The 'rents were obviously going over finances again. Business is failing everywhere. Even the restaurant where my sister works has gone bankrupt. I have to wonder how much worse things will get before they get better.

Anyway, the weather has warmed up just in time for my grandfather and his girlfriend to arrive in town for their cruise tomorrow. We're going to dinner with them tonight.

Ciao for now.

You Are a Witch

...

Like a witch, you are often misunderstood and unfairly judged. You are not as sinister as you seem.
You are intelligent and spiritual. You feel very connected to the world - both the dark and light sides of things.

You tend to keep to yourself, and because of this people tend to think things about you that aren't true.
You would just like to be left alone to do your own thing. You have no intention of harming anyone, even though you could if you wanted to!
