You have lovely long hair.  I wouldn't cut or color it.

i reckon that BB  ... the coloring, i dunno, i am not a big fan of violent red streaks although your hair color could go well with it. but think twice about cutting those bangs. your face has a nice shape and doesn't need hair falling into it. and it will eat away some volume in the length for sure. and above that it seems to be a real pain to grow them out again!

i wanna color/ cut my hair b/c I've had my hair the same since elementary school...I Look basically the same as i did then except for the whole growing up and looking older. Everyone around me is changing and I'm not...I just wanna do something different for a change.

And I don't think that just cutting my bangs (maybe leaving them a little long to put behind my ear) and coloring a bit would be too big, but enough to make me happy.

If not this cut or color...than what cut and/or color would you prefer? i just wanna do something different. But if your gunna recommend a cut than please something low maitnence...kinda wash, dry and go. Cuz I don't have alot of time to style my hair. And nothing that will accent the roundness of my face...i hate the shape. I've had layers and angles but I've never had bangs.

I'm inclined to agree with everyone else. You have fabulous hair as it is.

The red streaks look good, but are very hard to keep up. (My friend has hair your colour and when she had a similar job done on it, the streaks kept fading to orange.) And it's quite hard on your hair, as your natural colour has to be stripped out in order for the red to show up as vibrant as what you'd like.

I'm having a debate with myself over whether I should cut in a few layers around my face at the moment to add a bit of dimension. Only, I hate having hair fall in my face when I've got the rest pulled back, and that's whats stoppin me.  Tongue

Consider putting some red shrinkie extensions in your hair. They don't damage the hair, and after you remove them, the trace of adhesive can be removed with vegetable oil.

Why not learn a new style for your hair?  How about french braiding?  A crown braid?  Even a simple bun with a fun hairstick can be interesting!

The problem with short cuts and colored hair is the ongoing maintenance that is required.  Putting the red streaks into your hair would require stripping all your natural color from your hair, then putting the color in.  That hair will never be the same again. Growing out the coloring, the bangs and the cut will take a long time.  You want to think about it before you start down this path.

ugg one reason i wanna do something crazy to my hair. i have that stupid little innocent cutesy look, which if you met me and we hung out you would know its nothing like how i am! I have been reading alot about hair color and it does sound like a  lot of work...and damage. So maybe I'll cut out the the coloring. But maybe a new style or cut. And I'm TRYING to grow my hair out and I know your still suppose to get trims and i do, but it seems like it grows a lot....then i get a trim every once in a while and alllllll that length i grew back is GONE! so it doesnt grow..just stays the same.

PS~ oh and is it ok to use a color revial conditioner on hair w/ no color in it? cuz right now im using the pantene color revival b/c its a thick conditioner and my hair is really damaged and everything ive used for dry/damaged hair hasn't worked. i know pantene isn't a very well liked product for those who know a lot about hair, but i used my moms and it actually made my hair feel a lot better than it did (it just might be a one time thing) and i used it also b/c my natural haircolor was fading from chlorine damage...it seems to had brough more color to my hair too.

Most shampoos and conditioners that say they are for color or chemically treated hair, are gentle on your hair.  They may have more -cones than other shampoos, so watch for that.  Considering the swimming you are doing, the -cones probably would not have a chance to build up on your hair and cause damage.

If you really want to grow long hair, then cuts and coloring will only make that journey harder.

I know what you mean.  I'm thirty-four years old and no one believes it if I'm not dressed in my nursing scrubs.  If you are going to cut your hair I wouldn't do anything drastic like getting a pixie cut, which I think would only make you look younger and more cutsie.   I think you would look good with bangs and a blunt cut across the bottom.  And try the colored extensions or some hair toys with punk feel, something made of leather or has metal on it.

i think make up can do way more for that. if you just change your hair and still have the cutie look it might really fight ... dunno, i think it's a good idea just to add some fake colored strands but personally i'd get me some eyeliner and shadow (dark if you really want a harsher look) and start experimenting with that (i am a bit of a make up freak so i know what a difference it can make!). one of the reasons i always wanted to keep me hair pretty "normal" cuze too much is too much, if one likes to wear now and then complicated make up you better don't have a "real haircut" lol.

I don't know a lot about this, not having researched it
myself-but are there temporary colours that could be put in as streaks, ect, that could be washed out and hence, not causing any damage?  Anyone ever heard of those?  It might be a thought.

it sounds pretty impossible to me red will actually show in dark hair and thus you'll need bleeching.
