Get better soon  Smiley  (((((((big hug)))))))))

Sakina, the curious one  Grin We are celebrating X-mas on the 24th. I remember when I was little, my Dad would have to ring a little bell around 18:00 (6pm) and that was the "sign". Mom would say:"oh my, quick in the living room, I just heard the Christkind. " And then we would run to the living room, finding my Dad leaning out of the open window "you are to late. Look it is flying away already" My brother and I were pretty disappointed that another year went by and we had "just missed" the Christkind again, but.......that didn't last long, since we had all these presents to unwrap.
And when our kids were little we did the same thing. We still cook Bratwurst and Potatosalad on the 24th just like my mother and my grandmother did. My husband and I changed only few things around to compromise. Traditionally Christmas trees in the states are decorated right after Thanksgiving. In Germany, lots of families don't put their tree up until the afternoon of the 24th and take it back down on the 6th of January. Well, we decorate our tree 2 weeks before Christmas. Hubby is happy with that time frame.

The 25th and the 26th of Dec are both holidays in Germany. One will spend those days with family and friends. A lot of times, the first day is spend with the family of the wife's side and the next day a family gathering with a lot of food will be on the husband's side of the family. A lot of traveling, food and stress for those 2 days.  Roll Eyes

Thanks for sharing that, Moonchild!

I am finally feeling better enough to start rescheduling my appointments.  Today is eyebrow waxing and voice lesson.  Well, we'll see how much I can do-might just be warm ups but that's fine with me.  I can move my neck without pain now YIPPEE, I've got an adjustment on Wednesday.  It still feels outta whack, but now there is no pain.   8)

I have the weekend off!!  I can't remember the last time I had the weekend off since I started teaching weekends.  Probably never.  I love my job and don't like to miss work, but I am ready for vacation time.  I wish I wasn't sick and we were going to some exotic location, but who doesn't??

Hair is doing its thing.  I hope that as I'm busy with my stuff that it will get much longer without me thinking about it.

If you would, please pray that Arizona gets rain soon.  We've had 67 days without rain and we are having terrible pollution problems.  Its because of the high pollution that I think I got sick.  There is the grossest brown cloud over the greater Phoenix area.  The elderly, children and anyone with respitory (that totally doesn't look right, but I just got up) problems are advised to stay indoors-they are seriously at risk from this junk.  I'm dreaming of a raining Christmas.  Thanks!!

HAPPIEST OF HOLLIDAYS TO YOU ALL!

YAY!  I hardly coughed at all today.

For christmas hubby gave me "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" which I promptly read cover to cover and a shopping spree.  He's so sweet.

I had a great visit on the phone with my grandma, sister, neice and mom & dad.

Still laying around healing up, hope I'll be A OK tomorrow.  I meet my new guitar teacher tomorrow.

Ack!  Stupid relapse, I had to cancel my guitar lesson again!  Now I'm waiting until I'm 110% until I reschedule.

I'm waiting on a package from Ouidad-I'm going to give her Quench line a try.  I really am liking how my hair looks with these layers cut in, I'm just waiting for length to come.  I've taked to drying my roots w/warm air to no detrement, hair seems happy.

I'll be resting up tomorrow-day off.  I had an adjustment-bone cruncher kind-but it was just what I needed to release my occiput.  When its out I get migranes.  Bleck!  Now I'm headache free Smiley.

Maybe tomorrow I'll work on braids-I haven't tried any since I got the layers.

Watching Dead Again on Sci-Fi, I love movies about past lives.

Ahhh, I'm on cloud 9 right now.  I went to breakfast and shopping w/my friend, then went to my guitar lesson (finally-turns out he's cute as well as talented  8)) and then to my voice lesson (it went reaalllly well) and then no one showed up at the stretch class I was subbing so I got to go home early.  YAY!

Hair's hangin out in a pony, just growing happily.

If I remember correctly, the last time I washed my hair was last Thursday.  I have discovered, with my hair at least, when I this much oil on my hair from this length of time that brushing w/BBB does not cause the floaty hair effect that brushing with less oil will.  I wore a low ponytail today, and my top was plastered to my head by my own natural oil.  It looked very sleek.  Funny thing-lots of new growth was sticking up, ranging in length from 1/2 " to about 3 ".  YAY to new growth!!!!!!

I'm craving nachos.  Hot, messy, sloppy nachos.

Where does one get blondiesturn forks?  I think I need one for my collection-birthday is coming up.  Yours is too, isn't it?

Heeey I remember... we have the same birthday, don't we? Wink

Blondiesturn is a member on LHC. You can pm her through LHC about prices and ordering, but she also has a website and a contact email. I think LHC members get free shipping. Blondiesturn's work is just gorgeousss... and her customer service is always excellent.

...

This is my first pic of 2006, my first pic of my hair since I had the layers cut in and this is the first pic of my hair after washing, conditioning and gelling w/my new Ouidad Quench products.

So far, I'm very happy w/the result.  My hair smells nice and the products are easy to use.  I did scritch and use the scalp oil prior to this wash.  I combed the contitioner through, but did not comb it out before applying get.  The underside is perfectly wavy, so I'll have to practice getting the top layer to hold more wave.  I let my hair air dry and then finger combed it-I think 2 hairs came out.  Looking forward to future results...!

You have beautiful hair!

A little late, curious one  Grin but since you were wondering...

I was raised as pentecostal Christian, but decided that it's not for me when I was 16. Since then I've been religion-free. I celebrate Christmas. I see it as a celebration of family and a chance to quiet for a while, as well as part of my cultural tradition. I just ignore the obviously Christian parts of Christmas(with exception of angel ornaments, they're just too pretty  Grin ). The best parts still remain: being together, peaceful and quiet atmosphere, traditional Christmas food, presents -in Finland presents are opened on evening of 24th- , Christmas sauna, fir tree and so on. Quite many Christmas traditions have in fact pagan origins, and Christian Christmas was "glued on" pagan Yule (in fact, even the Finnish word for Christmas, joulu, is derived from Yule). Tradition to celebrate in darkest time of year is far longer than Christianity, and therefore celebrating at the same time with Christians feels quite natural to me. Smiley

Thank you, Khrome, Galadriel, Beesan and Juri!  I wish you all lived in my neighborhood to boost my hair confidence!!

Last night we went to the Coffee Cabana for open mike night.  Its a cozy place, very laid back and welcoming.  My guitar teacher wants me to play there someday.  I'm not ready yet!!!  He was very sweet to offer to back me up and I could sing if I wanted.  Probably will take him up on that before I play guitar in public!!

Today is the 3rd day since I washed w/Ouidad.  I feel like I want to wash it, but it doesn't look bad-scalp has a tiny smell though.  I don't feel like washing it.  Today I've got counseling, guitar, voice and bellydance class.  I think I will wait until after dancing.  My hair will get sweaty in class.  Maybe a bandana today, or a bun.

Gotta go feed myself and get ready.

Bye!
