Thanks, BB!  *hugs*

Hair
BSL, no splits, no frizzies; hair is in very good condition.  Routine is wash/condition every morning with Tre Semme (current product), apply jojoba oil to ends, comb and allow to air dry.  Most nights I wear piggy braids to sleep in and thus avoid tangling.  Once a week I give my hair a vinegar rinse.  I make an attempt to vary the part between the left side and straight down the middle.  There are still a few layers in my length that will take a couple of years to grow out.  But that's okay--I have nothing but time.   Wink

Other
I miss my ticker--I'm going to have to come up with a new one!  I guess I can always count down to waist length...?  Crap, how long is THAT going to take?  *sigh*
The living arrangements at home are working out surprisingly well.  I must admit, I'm happily amazed!  Everything and everyone seems to be falling quickly into a natural rythym, and I did not have to do a thing.  Sometimes it's best NOT to try to take control, as is my Capricornish nature.  Luckily I've learned a few things during my lifetime.
So...having the brother in law bunking with us has actually been enjoyable; my stepson now has a job, and the stress level of my husband has dropped to a reasonable level.  All is well--for the moment anyway.  I do not delude myself that things will stay this way.  It's Life we're talking about--always a roller coaster.  But if we lock in that safety bar the way we're supposed to, then the ride is tolerable.

Congrats on reaching BSL!!! We're actually near the same length and both have the same goal of waist length, thats pretty cool.  Maybe we'll arrive there around the same time Smiley

Sorry it took me so long to respond, I'd been trying to lay off of the computer for awhile, so that I could actually be productive for a change.

When I asked my question, I was really hoping that it wasn't your husband that had to look for a job because you mentioned he had a bad back, so it's great that now he doesn't have to because your stepson is working.

I'm so glad to hear everything is working out in your full house, 5 adults and 1 bathroom...YIKES!!!  Although, it sounds rough I'm not shocked that you all are able to work it out.  I have a tendency to try to control everything too, but sometimes it seems that things have a way of just working out on thier own.  I'm still learning that lesson though, hopefully with time I'll get better at going with the flow.

Congrats again on reaching your goal.  Are you going to do anything to reward yourself, like buy a new hair toy perhaps? Smiley

Thanks La Diosa!  *hugs*  We can be hair sistahs!!  Any reward for my hair accomplishment will have to wait until some of our house guests get the heck outta Dodge.   Grin

Hair
Felt lazy yesterday, so didn't wash--saved that action for this morning.  Tresses are down today, with a middle part.  I want to buy more barrettes, some for the sides and some for making my figure 8 bun.  Maybe I'll have a chance to do that this weekend.  I'm not holding my breath, though, because I have the feeling it's going to be busy.  I still haven't taken an official measurement of my hair.  *sigh*  Maybe this weekend I can get help doing that, too.
If my calculations are correct then, assming my hair keeps growing about half an inch per month, I should reach WL (waist length) around next December.  That length of time isn't as long as I had initially imagined and, as you can see, I've fashioned a new ticker.   Smiley  Love those tickers!
The weather here in Missouri is decidedly early winter, with nighttime temperatures dropping into the mid- to high-20s.  Pretty darn cold for November.  And it's been fairly windy of late, too, which causes me to think of securing my hair (somehow) while walking to, and walking from, the building where I work.  From my car it's a 7 minute walk and with a good strong wind, my length can get whipped around a bit.  Maybe I need to carry a clasp with me to quickly put up my hair with?  Maybe.

Other
Current living arrangements are still working very well.  No major conflicts, no arguements, no drama.   Smiley  My inlaws are coming over Sunday for lunch and we'll play cards after.  I'm sure MIL is anxious to have a decent conversation with her eldest son, who is usually on the road all of the time.  I'm not sure he wants to talk to his mother, though!  It's not that they dislike each other, no.  I will be the first to tell you that I love my mother in law; I could not ask for a better one.  But she can, at times, be a little....harpy?  preachy?  Yeah.  It will be interesting to see if BIL sticks around to endure the required mom-time, or if he flees.   Grin

Awww! (((Hugs))) for you too Trisha! Smiley   Yeah, we can be hair sistahs! Grin

So you're figuring next December for waist lenght eh?... that's not too far away, just a little over a year.   I'm thinking it will  take me more like a year and a half, I must have a long back or something Undecided

Good luck with the visit from your inlaws and in finding the time to get your barrettes Smiley

Hair
Nothing new to report.  I didn't have the time or, more importantly the money, to search for barrettes over the weekend.  I'm thinking I can make my own, if I can find the right materials.  I get paid this Friday, so a trip to Hobby Lobby may be in order.
I have to admit that I'm missing my Giovanni shampoo and conditioner.  Quite a long time may pass, though, before I can afford it once more...if ever.  *sigh*  It sucks being poor.   Smiley

Other
The houseguests are still behaving themselves.  Truthfully, though, I'll be glad when the stepson and the brother-in-law have gone their own ways.  I mean, they're family so I don't feel like I have to act differently around them or anything.  But it's still not easy.  I'm sure both of them would much rather have their own places, too, and I try to keep that in mind.
The brother-in-law could be gone in another week or two (don't know for sure).  But the stepson...?  I'm afraid he'll be living with us for a long time.

Hair
I've gone back to every-other-day-washing, more or less.  This is due more to laziness on my part, and not a concious decision.   Smiley  I'm sort of allowing my morning wake-up mood to determine hairstyle/washing schedule.

Other
Today after work I'll be spending some LONG overdue time with an old friend of mine--let's refer to her as TT.  We were best friends throughout elementary and high school.  But after graduation, we drifted apart.  I was busy struggling to raise my newborn daughter and, once again, I allowed Life to get in the way.  I regret not keeping in touch with her for years on end.  On the other hand, though, we both remained in the area, and she certainly could have contacted me at any time.  So I should not shoulder all of the blame, I know.  Anyway, I would really enjoy having a woman friend my own age to spend time with every now and then...I don't know why, but I have no girlfriends to be stupid with!   Grin  So maybe TT and I will rekindle our friendship and start hanging out, who knows.
Just a few days ago we had to help BIL buy some of his medical supplies, which makes me think that he will not be gone anytime soon.  When his eyesight clears up...IF his eyesight clears up, then he can resume driving a truck and making more money (as he's used to).  But it could take several weeks for that to happen.  In fact, he has a doctor's visit scheduled this morning, and it will be interesting to hear the results.  He's been doing a great job of staying on the diet and keeping his blood sugar level within the normal range.  But, then, living with us, he's better able to keep on schedule with his testing and eating.
My wonderful daughter is doing well, but working two jobs is wearing her out.  She has a full-time job during the day and then works a few nights a week as a convenience store.  She's thinking of quitting the part-time job after the first of the year, but I'm thinking she likes the extra money too much.  We'll see!
I keep thinking of getting a part-time job myself, just to have some extra money to blow.  It would have to be the right kind of part-time job, though...no fast food, no convenience stores.  I know--picky, huh?  I'm of a mind that, if I am supposed to have a part-time job then one will come my way.
People are starting to really notice my weight loss, and they're commenting on it.  Which just tickles me to death, as you can imagine!   Cheesy  So far I've lost 22.5 pounds; I've lost 2 inches off my waist and 1 inch off my hips.  Hubby has lost 57 pounds!  That's the equivilant of a small child!  ...or a fully clothed runway model...  *snort*

Congrats on the weight loss, Trish!!  Cheesy  22.5 lbs, wow! I'd kill to lose that much! What's your secret?  Wink  lol

Have fun with TT today - I'm sure it will be a blast getting back in touch. The 2 of you will no doubt have much to talk about, so things won't get boring.
A few years ago, I did the same thing with a girlfriend of mine who had been my best friend in jr. high. We sorta lost touch during high school & afterwards. She went her way, I went mine, but we never lost touch completely. But recently, we've been getting together on occasion & it's always great. By the way, you've reminded me that I need to give her a call. lol So thanx for that.  Wink
Anyway, it should be a blast. Let us know what you crazy chicks decide to do.

Hope all goes well for your BIL, too. Believe me, I know all too well what it's like to have temporary roommates around (remember the dæmon cousin of my ex's? lol! Be glad that your BIL is not like that!!). Try not to let them harsh your mellow too much. hehe It doesn't sound like they are, which is good.

As for getting a part-time job, it all depends on how badly you want one. If you do, then you can't just leave it to chance. You have to actively look for one. If it doesn't matter that much, then by all means, keep on waiting. Just make sure that whatever position you decide to take on doesn't hand you more stress than necessary to justify a part-time paycheck. hehe Trust me there.  Wink

"harsh your mellow"  *snort*  For some reason this makes me picture myself as a giant marshmallow being roasted over an open flame--too, too Freudian!!

Hair
Didn't wash this morning--I think this week I've washed about every other day, and that's all right...gives my hair a rest.  Had a cool hair-related happening last night.   Smiley  My friend TT had tickets to a Taste of Home cooking show and invited me to come along.  There were tons of people walking around, sampling food, etc., and as she & I were walking around picking up free goodies, I get stopped.  "Ma'am?  Oh, ma'am?"  A lady wearing a black t-shirt sporting the logo of a local Spa got my attention, and I stopped when she touched my arm.  I couldn't imagine why she was stopping me!   Angry  Then she goes on to say, "Spa 151 is doing free up-do's.  We're over in the far corner--you should go have your hair done!"  That's when it hit me...she stopped me because I have long hair.  *gasp*   Roll Eyes  It was truly one of those "WOW" moments for me.
Of course I did NOT let those people touch my hair.  As my friend and I made our way around the room I got a look at what those stylists were doing to other women's hair.  It took everything I had to keep myself from knocking those fine tooth combs out of their hands and yelling, "Run away, run away!!" to the victims!   Sad  When I told my hubby about it, he said, "Of course you didn't (let them touch your hair)--not after it took you so long to get this far!"  See, he recognizes my hair journey!  He may not always vocalize it, but he knows.   Wink

Other
As mentioned, TT and I attended the Taste of Home Cooking Show last night.  We had a blast!  TT and I haven't spent any time together in over 5 years.  But last night, it felt as if we were back in high school--running around from exhibit to exhibit, scoping out the free goodies, joking with each other...it felt so good to have some girly time!  I'm hoping we can spend more time together on a regular basis.  I don't want to go another 5 years before I visit with her again!
This weekend I'll be doing my Secret Santa shopping for a certain someone here at LL.   Smiley  I can't wait--it's going to be so much fun!

Aww, Trish. hehe Sounds like something my sweetie would say.  Grin

And lol @ roasted marshmallows. "Harshing the mellow" is an old hippie expression. It just means that someone's disrupting your harmony....throwin' off your groove, so to speak.  Roll Eyes

Oh, I know what it means, dear   Smiley  I'm 44 years old, so I'm fairly well versed in all things Hippie!   Wink  *hugs*

Hair
Lately I have not been wearing braids at night, just leaving it down.  I really don't get many tangles, and sometimes those braids are a pain in the neck...literally.   Smiley  I fought off a recent urge to blow some coinage on Giovanni products, and stuck with the Tre Semme.  My tresses seem to be doing well with the TS, so why pay more for product if I don't need to?  KISS (keep it simple, stupid)

Other
Have a slight headache this morning, probably due to a weather front hanging over our area.  It's frustrating because I never get headaches, and I'm somewhat of a medication opponent--the less drugs the better.  But I guess a couple of aspirin won't hurt me.

The weather of late, as I mentioned, has been looking very winterish.  Over the weekend, I would have bet money on our getting some snow; the sky looked that grey and heavy.  But it's holding off, perhaps for Thanksgiving or even for Christmas.  A white Christmas is always nice!   Smiley

Tasty sugar free goodies:  Dove SF Rich Dark Chocolates with Chocolate Creme, Russell Stover Toffee Squares, Russell Stover Coconut (chocolate covered), Russell Stover Pecan Delights.  All YUUUUM!

lol! I figured you knew what it meant - just throwin' it out there.  Grin

TRESemmé really works for you? That's pretty amazing! It's so cheap! And you've gotta love all of the black bottles, right?  Cool  Their S & C dried my hair out majorly, but I did like the Detangle leave-in spray. Smells something like old fashioned roses.

You're lucky to have white Christmases, too. LOL I remember the last time that I ever saw actual snow...like, falling out of the sky...and thought it was amazing!! hehehe It was several years ago, as I was walking through an outlet center in the mountains with my husband of the time, and it was bloody cold! But there was snow on the ground already and it was falling from the sky in these tiny white specks...looked more like drizzle, but it wasn't rain. You probably wouldn't even consider it "real snow," but it was by SoCal standards, I guess.  Roll Eyes  Anywho, that was probably the 2nd time in my life that I'd ever seen snow falling, so I was totally pulling a Jack Skellington: "What's this? What's this?!" And my former husband, who had once lived in Minnesota, just looked at me like I was the biggest dork.  Tongue
Haha so my point is...try not to take that kinda stuff for granted. It's easy to do when you live around something all the time, but that doesn't make it any less special.  Wink

Wink

Hair
Another lazy day of no-washing.  I could totally get used to this.  Hair is up in a figure 8 bun of sorts.  And I still have not made it to Hobby Lobby to look at barrette fixin's.   Sad  Maybe today I'll leave work early and swing by there on my way home....maybe I should write myself a note so I don't forget to do that!   Roll Eyes

Other
BIL saw the eye doc yesterday and was fitted for some specs, which should arrive within a week.  I think, with his corrective lenses, he should be able to resume truck driving at that point, but will continue to live with us until he can (a) pay us back the money we've fronted him for meds, supplies, and doctors fees, and (b) save up a little "cushion" of money for future needs.  Wouldn't surprise me to find him still living with us through the end of the year.  Him I don't mind; he's the easy, low-maintenance guest.  My stepson?  Oy vey, don't get me started.  My stepson is not a bad person.  It's a simple matter of him being absolutely immature, irresponsible and idiotic.  But he's only 24, and I'm hoping he'll soon get with the program.  I have serious doubts, though.
Can you believe next week is Thanksgiving?!   Shocked  Where did the rest of the freakin' year go, eh??  Sheesh.  I'm scrambling to come up with a menu that will please everyone--from low carbers, to diabetics, to the "who cares as long as it tastes good?".  It will be a challenge, but I'm pretty confident we can do it.   Smiley

hehehe but I'm boycotting all junk food right now...with only 3 days left to go!  Grin  I just might give them a shot when this "healthy stuff only" week is over. I've been craaaaving chocolate!

Oh yeah...

Trish,  get  to  Hobby  Lobby!!!

Making your own barrettes is fun. This past summer & fall, I made suuuper gothy black rose barrettes...some of them have long black ribbons & strips of black lace attached. Later on, I plan to make some with "dead" burgundy roses.  Wink

Do you have an idea what you plan to make?

Sorry about your stepson, also. You know, the maturity thing totally depends on the guy. You have cases like my dæmon ex-roommate, who was a couple of years older than I...and then you have the rare sort like my beau, who is *ahem* a few years younger than I. It all depends on how much they want to use their brains & apply themselves. Some just "get it" better than others. At 24, he's kind of at that "in between" stage, though....young enough that, with enough influence (and a few beatings, perhaps), he can change his ways. Or he could be just old enough that he is the way he's going to be for the rest of his life & there's nothing you can do about it. In which case, you have my pity.
It's ok if he's staying with you on a temporary basis...but you have to make it very clear to both him and your husband that it is just that - temporary. You can't give the message that it's a permanent free ride because guys will take huge advantage of that.

The best to your BIL - he'll be on his way soon enough.  Smiley

Yummy!  I love Russel Stover's sugar free chocolates, they're so tasty!  Lately, I've been pigging out on sugar free vanilla wafers.  I ate a whole pack the other day and there are 27 cookies in a pack Shocked.  The package also states very clearly "this is not a low calorie food".  There goes my "healthy" snacking unfortunately, I still have a whole pack and a half left. Sad

I can't believe Thanksgiving is almost here either, this year has come and gone so fast.

Good to hear about your BIL hopefully, he can influence on your stepson to act more maturely
.
