UGH!  Sorry to hear about your cards.  Since the guy ordered stuff, will they be able to track him down and arrest him or something?

They won't do anything.  It's more trouble for the credit card company to track the little SOB down than it is for them to eat $2000 of fraudulent charges.  So he'll go on to do it to others and the cycle continues.

I've become terribly cynical in my old age.   8)

Yesterday I wore Kurukulla and 2, 5, and 7; when I was at Wal-Moo a fly was attracted to the sweet scent and would NOT leave me alone.  All hail the power of BPAL.  Roll Eyes

Bright spot of the week:

It's time to play the music
It's time to light the lights
It's time to meet the Muppets
On the Muppet Show tonight.

Season 1 of The Muppet Show is on DVD!  I loved the Muppets when I was a kid.  Still do, in fact.  I always had a crush on Kermit.   Wink  On the second episode Kermit sang "Lydia the Tattooed Lady." Kermie, Muppets, and a Groucho reference.  Who could ask for anything more?

Gorey is getting fatter and fatter and fatter.  He gets 2 cans of food most days and attacks it as though he's starving.  If I got July Gorey and put him next to October Gorey you'd never believe it was the same cat.

My ends however, get rattier and rattier and rattier.  I'm being extra careful with them and hopefully I can wait till the new year and have an inch trimmed off.  I should have another inch of growth by then.  My hair averages 0.5 inches a month of growth, but it grows 1.0-1.25 inches a month for 2 months then nada for 2 months. I don't know if it's resting or working on thickness.  I'm guessing the latter.  My scalp also seems to have no problems sprouting grey hairs everywhere.  Sigh.

BPAL:  Zombi.  The weather here is awful--heavy, grey, cold, and wet.  Zombi alone (without the rose boost from Lucy's Kiss) reflects my mood perfectly.  I'm not sure what scent I'll wear to the wedding.  Santa Muerte, I suppose.  I was hoping my Halloween LE's would arrive but nope.

BTW, I ordered a lovely outfit for the wedding and Ulla Popken sent the skirt but said the shirt was out of stock.  It's an outfit, people!  Ask me if I still want the #@^%$@ skirt before sending it!  I have nothing to go with the bloody thing and it costs almost $10 to return it.   Angry  Worse, I have no time to order something else.  I have a long black chiffon skirt with a kicky ruffle and a black v-necked top covered with big orange roses picked out in gold.  It's much dressier than it sounds, really.  8) I asked Mom to call my aunt to make sure it's ok that I wear black but I haven't heard back yet.  It's really either this or my sushi skirt and I don't think that's quite appropriate.  Plus it's not like I'd be going in all black and would be mourning all over the reception.  The black-based outfit would look perfect with my Smoldering Fire Artistix, too.  I'll plan on it unless I hear differently.

Well, I wore the black to the wedding and no-one cared.  Several people wore black as a matter of fact.  I wore my hair in a Modified Gibson with my Smouldering Fire Artistix parallel to each other through the inner bun.  Mom complimented my hair!   Shocked  She's never hateful about it, but she prefers short hair.  She always has; it's an aesthetic thing.  Different strokes and all that, eh?

The groom's side guests were in the majority and were very cliquish.  They didn't talk to any of us at all; the kids there were very rude.  One little girl dropped something and when I handed it back, she stared at me for a minute, snatched it out of my hand and stomped away.   Tongue

I think I"ve finally come to grips with the ruana.  One row of sc in Lion's Brand Thick and Quick Chenille in wine, then 6 rows of mesh in Bernat Boa in phoenix (sc, ch2, sk next sc, sc in next sc, repeat).  It's as long as my armspan and as wide as I have enough yarn.  I'm going to update my fuzzy mitts with the chenille on the wrists and I might have enough for a hat.

Someone on LHC made a drawstring hat--an open tube with a drawstring around the top--and she wore it with her bun on top of her head sticking out of the hat.   Cheesy  Nice idea, but I can't wear a bun on top of my head without significant pain.  I think I'll make a hat that's solid on the top and open in the back with ties at the bottom.  That should let my bun stick out and let me wear a hat and hairsticks at the same time.   Grin

PPPPPPPPPPPUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMPPPPPPPPPKKKKKKKKKIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNPPPPPPPPPA
AAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTCCCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Halloween BPAL's have arrived.  The labels are gorgeous and are based on antique postcards.  I need to ModPodge them before opening so they don't get spoiled.  I also got a 5ml of Jack which I'm wearing now.  It's surprisingly good with Elegba and I smell VERY good right now.  I was hoping they'd come in time for the wedding, but oh well.  I wore Santa Muerte.  I should have worn Raid.  When the bride and groom kissed one of the lovely guests screamed "ROCK AND ROLL, ERNIE!!!"  Thank God they had a cash bar or the police would have been there by 5:30.   8)

This is from a comic by Hilary Price.  It's supposed to be a flow chart, but I'll do my best.

How Cats Lower Your Blood Pressure

1.  Cat jumps on lap

2.  You pet cat

Track A

3.  Cat purrs.
4.  Purring calms you.
5.  Blood pressure lowers.

Track B

3.  Cat swipes at you.
4.  You bleed.
5.  Closed circulatory system is compromised.
6.  Blood pressure lowers.

All of these years Bogie has just been trying to improve my health, and what do I do?  Smack his furry bottom.  I feel just terrible, I tell you.   Wink

Gorey is about to pop.  If it weren't so obvious that he's a boy I'd swear that he's pregnant.  He has such an adorable little fat face.  He's nearly healed behind his ears and when I pet him he tilts his head back, narrows his eyes that are too close together, and sticks out his tongue.  So cute!

I've pretty much outgrown a french twist, so I'm now doing a log twist with no tail.  I secured it with my red Primavera ficcare and it's held all day.  If a ficcare isn't put in just right it tends to slide out.

King Kong is finally coming out on DVD!!!  On November 22!!!!  And it's a 2 DVD special edition extravaganza!!!!!!

I'm such a dork.   Grin

BPAL:  Pumpkin Patch #2 (pumpkin, cocoa, hazelnut, and walnut).  I think I've found the chocolate perfume I've been looking for.  This is a rich, dark chocolate scent that's not sweet.  At first it smells like rich fudge and I can definately smell the nuts.  Then around noon the pumpkin peeks out and it's just wonderful.  If all of the Patch is this good it was money well spent.

Oh BTW--I got the Puppy Love Individualistick!  Yay!  Although they're really cat paw prints cuz there aren't any claw marks.   Wink

Gorey’s Song
(sung to the tune of Goldfinger)

Go-o-o-o-o-r-i-i-i-t-o!
He’s the cat named after a Tex-Mex snack
Has a fuzzy back

(meow meow meow, meow meow)

Such a Po-o-o-o-o-o-r-i-i-i-t-o!
Only gets two cans of food a day—
Why does he stay?

Scratched the fur from behind of each ear
Big mouth, but he really can’t hear
Broken tooth with which he will bite you
Then sneeze on your leg just to spite you

Go-o-o-o-o-o-r-i-i-i-t-o!
With his green goopy close-set eyes,
And loud, LOUD cries…

Yes, I sing to my cats.  Agatha used to have a theme song but it’s no longer valid since she’s no longer on the porch.

Low bun covered with a Halloween scarf.  It’s really too low.  It doesn’t hurt but I could only put in 3 Amish hair pins and it pokes me in the neck when I look up.

I started back on my vitamins.  I’m taking 2 Ultranourishair from GNC, a silica tab (I had some left over and don’t want to waste them), a milk thistle capsule, and 2 ginseng tablets since I read an article yesterday about a double (triple) blind study where they gave 3 groups of people either 2 ginseng, 2 echinacea, or 2 placebo a day; the ginseng group had fewer colds with less severe symptoms than the other groups.  Interestingly enough, the echinacea group was no better than placebo.  So it’s ginseng for me.  All CVS had was a multi-ginseng complex with B vitamins and Royal Jelly.  If it doesn’t stop my colds maybe I can make my own honey for my tea.

I added some powdered horsetail and some powdered black walnut hulls to my herbal rinse.  I’ve only been using them for a couple of weeks now and have seen no changes good or bad.

I really hate my ends.  I don’t think they’re quite as bad as I think—I’m quite self-conscious about them—but they’re bad.  My new growth is very healthy (and slippery) but if I cut off all the damage I’d be back to shoulder length at the longest. I can’t do it.  I can’t go a year or longer without hairsticks.  It drove me crazy being at 25” back in February.  I just can’t do it.  I wish I had the intestinal fortitude but I don’t.  I’ll continue to slather on the shea and red palm oil and hope for the best.

BPAL:  Yesterday was Sugar Skull ’05 (5 sugars and fruit).  The label is a very nice version of the Anima Sola.  At first sniff this was sugary sweet with a tart undertone—quite nice.  On, it became very alcoholic.  Not bad, but not a work perfume at all.  I had several comments about it; one woman thought there was something burning.  It dried down to a nice sugary scent, but I’ll not wear it to work again.
Today:  Pumpkin Patch #5 (pumpkin, 5 woods, English Ivy, and Galangal).  Very pumpkiny right off the bat, with a buttery overtone.  ( I think that’s just my nose.  I read Beth’s pumpkin note as buttery.  That’s a good thing.)  By afternoon it had morphed to a dark shiny green smell which I assume was the ivy.  Now it’s ivy and a faint woody undertone.  Unusual, but I like it.

Hey 13bodies! I wear stuff from Ulla Popken too! Grin Most of my clothes are theirs, in fact. Trousers are mostly very comfortable fit, although they are not big on skirts. What gets me is that they market most of their shirts/blouses/t-shirts in double sizes so I always have to take it to the seamstress to be tucked in afterwards. Angry
Yeahhhhhhhh for globalisation! Cheesy

I love Ulla Popken!  I get most of my clothes from there.  They don't carry the stereotypical "fat lady" clothes,  Roll Eyes and I usually get compliments on my outfits.

Double yay for globization!  Without it, I'd still be stuck with Lane Bryant.  8)

*LOL* Gorey's Song is so cute!  Cheesy

I can relate to how you feel about your ends. Sometimes I think I should cut off all my bleached parts, but then I'd be back at shoulder length too. It's taken me so long to reach the length I'm at now so I'd have to go insane before I chop off my hair.

The BPAL scents sound yummy! One of these days I'll get around to ordering imps.

Went to Wal-Moo last night.  I had to; we were nearly out of canned cat food and we all know that would be a tragedy of epic proportions.   Roll Eyes  They used to carry 3 different crocheting mags; then they dropped to two, and then to one.  Now there aren't ANY!  Arrrggghhh!  I'll have to drive 30 minutes up the road to the big Kroger to get my crocheting fix.  Bleah, blah, and bleargh on you, Wal-Moo.

I bought a turkey club wrap while there for dinner and it was terrible.  I ate about 1/4 of it and rolled the passenger side window down to toss the leftovers out to the birds.  I hadn't rolled the window down far enough, though, and it smacked against the glass and disintegrated all over the car.  I cleaned it up last night, but this morning I found a piece of bacon in the passenger seat.

For Halloween I decided to dress as a gypsy rather than a wad of bubble gum.  I had to go to the store after work and I'd rather not go with a show tied on my head.  I wore a pink and white tie-dyed bandanna with a long fringed scarf wrapped around it and I wore my hair down.  It tangled something fierce and I had a terrible time with it last night.  I ended up breaking a few hairs  Shocked during the process, so I"m sticking to updos until further notice.

Still working on the ruana.  I'm not quite half finished.  If I can work uninterrupted by the 4-legged fuzzies, I could have it done by this weekend.  I won't hang by my left #$%$ till that happens, though.   Grin

BPAL:  Devil's Night (the scent of autumn night, fires in the distance, with a touch of boozy swoon, playful sugar and thuggish musk).  Love the label, BTW.  Anyway, I was a bit apprehensive about this one because I tend to amp smoke and musk (I can't wear Black Rose anymore because I amp the musk so much I smell like a 1970's swinger with his gold medallions nestling in matted chest hair, double knit white leisure suits and an unfortunate tendency to call everyone "babe".  Totally disgusting. Tongue).  It smells sweet in the bottle but as soon as I put it on it goes smokey.  That doesn't last terribly long and it's not too bad.  The musk is there but the sweet boozy note keeps it tamed.  I like it.

Rumpole sleeps with me once the weather turns cold.  He generally stakes out one of the lower bed corners, curls up, and stays all night.  Last night he discovered that a 14 pound cat can take up the entire lower third of a queen sized bed if he really wants to.

I had a devil of a time finding a place to put my legs.   Tongue

Simple bun with my Laurel Birch scarf my SIL got me for Christmas a few years ago.  I was thinking about all of the long hair nay-sayers and how they say long hair is boring.  With just one style, a simple bun, I can:

hold it up with hairsticks, a hairfork, or beak clip
tie a scarf around it
put a scrunchie around it
wear it plain
pin a brooch to it
stick flowers or feathers in it
put hair jewels on it
glue beads, shells, dice, tiny plastic things, ANYTHING to a hairpin and decorate
use a bun cover

And so on.  How sad to have the same old boring short hair day after day when the only way you can use hairtoys is to duct tape them in place.  Poor souls.

BPAL yesterday:  Pumpkin Patch #3 (pumpkin and pomegranate)  I was afraid this would be too fruity but it's very pumpkin-y with pomegranate floating underneath.  Unfortunately it was gone by noon.

Today:  Pumpkin Patch #4 (pumpkin, sandalwood, and orris)  Pumpkin and sandawood at first, then the sandalwood has taken over.  It's a little harsh, but if it doesn't get any stronger it'll be a winner.

I got my Puppy Love Indivudiualistick!  I wore it yesterday.  It's gorgeous with its deep copper stick and brown bead with the white pawprints on it.   Grin  I got several compliments on it, but no-one realized that it was decorated with pawprints rather than random white dots.   Roll Eyes  Oh well.   Cheesy

I've been wearing a rose bun lately (regular bun made with a 2-strand braid.  I still don't have enough length to make a braided bun.  Stupid thick stubby-braid hair.  Grin)  My hair seems to be more slippery (slippery-er?) than usual and this holds better.  I even managed to keep the Wad o' Hair (tm) under control with my LL Forest Fire sticks!  Yay!  A new way to wear my shorter sticks.

I bought an Argus double-crimped titanium hair fork over at the LHC.  It's  a hair toy AND a weapon.  How economical.

Gorey wants Inside The House and he's being awfully @#$#$ stubborn about it too.  Agatha is threatening to hire a lawyer unless her demands--full access to the entire house and the immediate death of Bogie--are met.

Sometimes I wish I'd gotten fish.

BPAL:  Trick or Treat (the smell of Candy Corn)  Very sweet.  When I first put it on it smells hot.  My chemistry must do that with sugar notes, because I did the same thing with Sugar Skull.  Yesterday I wore Pumpkin Patch #1 (pumpkin with apple cider and mulling spices).  It was a bit of a disappointment.  The cinnamon amped up and that's about all I could smell.  Not objectionable, but if I wanted to smell like cinnamon I can buy a bottle of cinnamon eo for a heck of a lot cheaper than a bottle of BPAL.

I was at a conference this weekend.  Boring.  However, we went shopping and stopped by the Yarid's outlet.  They had shoes, socks, jewelry and FICCARES!!!  OK, it was the boring gold, tortie, silver selection you find at Nordstrom's but woo and hoo!  The saleslady said they did have some colors but they sold out quickly.  I'll bet.

Oils for my hair:

Jojoba:  good for every day, canopy feels a bit dry oiling.  Works very well with aloe as a gloss.  Not quite enough for really dry canopy days.  That requires...

Camillia:  thicker than the jojoba and has some glossing ability.  Works miracles for the midsummer very dry, poofy, tangly canopy.

Shea butter:  My hair won't absorb it.  If I use it straight it simply coats the hair and leaves it greasy.  Works wonderfully well in leave-ins, such as Fox's Shea Conditioning Cream and CurlyBrunette's SIAS.  Since it doesn't absorb, small amounts temporarily glue my splits together.

Red Palm Oil:  A miracle for dry, damaged ends.  My hair absorbs it enthusiastically and becomes very soft indeed.  Too heavy for the canopy.  Can be used as a leave-in in a pinch as I discovered this weekend.  Leaves ends amazingly soft, but they're splitty and frizzy.  But soft!

I think I'll have an inch trimmed off after the new year.  While my goal is to grow till my hair's no longer any fun, this length is good for updos and care, so I'm going to concentrate on getting rid of the damage for a while.

The cats, cats, cats, cats
Cats, cats, cats, cats
The fuzzy omnipresent
Noisy cats.

I can't get anything done.  Once my feline duties are discharged the evening is kaput.  Gorey is fat and shiny black; his fur is a bit long and it has a wave in it.  He's very soft now, too.  He's usually on the porch on Saturday mornings anymore so maybe I can catch him and take him to the vet!  No, he hasn't been yet, the slippery little bugger.   Roll Eyes

I wore my hair down yesterday.  It was 3rd day hair, so it was greasy and the ends were frizzy.  My scalp doesn't itch much if I'm good about scritching, but I have that dirty hair smell by the third day.  I had to go somewhere on Sunday and I didn't want to interrupt my washing schedule, so I added a genrous amount of lavender eo to some aloe and rubbed it into my scalp, then misted my hair with rose water.  I tied a scarf around my head and clipped it in place over my ears, then tied the ends around my hair to make a pony tail.  I slathered the ends with aloe and jojoba, then put some red palm oil over all.  Whew!  The ends weren't frizzy anymore and they didn't tangle much at all when I took it down.  All of the eo conquered the smell, too.

BPAL:  Dia De Los Muertos (dry, crackling leaves, the incense smoke of altars honoring Death and the Dead, funeral bouquets, the candies, chocolates, foods and tobacco of the ofrenda, amaranth, sweet cactus blossom and desert cereus)  Very much like Sante Muerte, which is now tied with Zombi as my favorite BPAL of all time.  SM starts out sweet and floral then dries down to a dark green not sweet scent, while Dia starts out with a brown, heavy, slightly spicy scent that turns sweet and somewhat floral.  It's a touch heavier and it's like SM's older sister.  It's a winner!

Wore my bed gloves the other night and I took both of them off and I can only find one.   Angry  I looked in the bed and under the bed and beside the bed and behind the bed--checked all of the prepositions--and I still can't find it.  I really need them now, too.  It's cold and I'm growing my annual red scaley winter carapice on my hands.  Sigh.  Next time I'll lengthen the wrists so they reach my armpits.
