I put my hair up in a horshoe bun today (aka twisted loop--http://www.dressytresses.com/hair-styles/twisted-loop/default.asp )  I don't have enough hair to make a tail, but anyway.  The base of my twist is thick and when I twisted it, it somehow looks exactly like a snail shell.  It's so pretty and unusual.  I wish I had a camera because I'll NEVER make this happen again.  Ah well.

Scritching with my horn comb seems to have markedly decreased my flaking scalp and the aloe/eo mix has cut down on my oiliness as well as healing breakouts on the scalp.  The mix I'm using at the moment:

1/2 cup aloe vera gel
1 TBSP witch hazel
1.5 TBSP distilled H2O

Mix well.

I have a 1 oz jar and I filled it about 2/3 of the way up with the mixture (I use the rest on my face for a moisturizer), and added:

1 drop basil eo
1 drop red thyme eo
1 drop cedarwood eo
3 drops lemongrass eo
10 drops lavender eo
10 drops lemon eo
5 drops rosemary eo
5 drops sandalwood eo

Stir and stir and stir again.

The thyme and cedarwood are new this time, so I don't know how well they'll work.  It smells pleasant enough.

After scritching I dab my fingers in the mix and slide them down to my scalp, trying to avoid getting any on my hair.  I massage it in well, and repeat until done.  I tried using a big glob but it ended up mostly on my hair.  My scalp feels a lot less greasy once I"ve finished which is nice because the scritching does tend to encourage oil.

I was browsing on BPAL yesterday, just killing time, and I made the mistake of checking out their limited edition scents.  They had one called 13!  Only available until 12:01 midnight tonight!  I mean, how could I not buy it?   8)  It's got 13 ingredients and I have no idea what it might smell like, but it's gotta be interesting if nothing else.  And of course if I'm ordering I might as well get some imps and a big bottle of Zombi and one of Blood Rose....sigh.  I'm glad the Rapunzelstix haven't been updated or I might have had to have a little conversation with my bank  "What?  No mortgage payment this month?  Why, I have no idea what may have happened, but doesn't my hair look great?  And don't I smell wonderful?"

I could live in my car--I paid it off in March.  Grin  The cats could live in the glove compartment and I could keep my hairsticks in the cup holders.

My hair and I have reached an accord this week, so it's behaving reasonably well and I"m not swearing at it as much. I'm wearing a twisted loop again today and it kind of looks like a snail shell again, but it's not as nice as yesterday's.  I knew it.  Roll Eyes  With my hair all twisted and clipped up it looks like I don't have much at all, so I get more compliments when I (rarely) wear it down.  Cheesy

AAAAGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

The computer's been down for 2 days!  I feel like part of me has been shut off when that happens Angry.  I'm taking advantage of it now, while it's working.  I'll bet a pair of LL hairsticks that the #$%& thing goes down again by this afternoon.

Anyway, hair's doing ok.  I wore it in 2 buns horizontally yesterday.  It just didn't look right; I don't know why but it didn't.  This morning I divided my hair into 2 ponytails, split each in half and made each into a little bun.  It has promise and looks very fancy.  Unfortunately they weren't holding well and I didn't have the time to fiddle with them, so I wrapped the lower pony around the base of the upper and secured it with my Snowy Night LL sticks.

The nettle shampoo bar is still doing great.  I ordered another one, along with a Rosemary Lavender Aloe and a Summer Citrus.  I love the shampoo bars.  They work so nicely and my haircare regimen is much simpler now.  Sometimes still I'll rinse my hair and reach for the conditioner before remembering that I don't need it anymore.  Cheesy

I ordered the Miss Scarlet Shadowstix today.

I had to!  I have the Warm Glow Individualistick, and it has a the same beads as Miss Scarlet, only with a gold-painted stick.  They're made for each other--who am I to thwart fate?

I also ordered the Moroccan Twilight Sterlingstix because, um, evil little men with green hair said if I didn't they would pull off Bogie's tail.  Bogie creates enough destruction when he has his full sense of balance, such as it is, so I must protect my house, right?  Plus Bogie would be sad without his tail, and a good cat slave must protect her master.   8)

I know; when I saw the little moon I had to buy them Wink

Pony-Bun was a hit.  I managed to keep a ponytail at my crown all day without pain or sliding.  So today I divided my hair into 2 ponytails again, but this time I made the top tail into a bun and wrapped the bottom one around it.  I prefer the look of a bun on the crown of my head than the look of a low bun on me--so far this seems to be working.  It felt a little heavy this morning, but it didn't hurt and now I don't feel anything at all.  This is good 'cause I seem to have outgrown a sock bun.

Hair Regimen:

TTSun: PM:   Hairwash nights.  Wash with Chagrin Valley shampoo bars and use herbal infusion as final rinse (2 tsp each dried catnip, sage, and rosemary, 1 hibiscus tea bag to about 2 cups boiling water.  ACV used weekly).  Squeeze out excess water, wrap hair in turbi towel until worst of the water is gone, then let down, comb out with seamless plastic comb, add leave-in conditioner, and let air dry till bedtime.  Braid and cover with rubber ducky sock.

AM:  Comb and style

MWFSat:  PM:  detangle with Ric Carpenter wooden comb, oil ends with jojoba.  Scritch scalp with horn comb and massage scalp with aloe mixture (1/2 cup aloe vera gel, 1 TBSP witch hazel, 1.5 TBSP distilled H2O.  Mix well.   I have a 1 oz jar and I filled it about 2/3 of the way up with the mixture and added:  1 drop basil eo, 1 drop red thyme eo, 1 drop cedarwood eo, 3 drops lemongrass eo, 10 drops lavender eo, 10 drops lemon eo, 5 drops rosemary eo, 5 drops sandalwood eo.  Stir and stir and stir again).  Braid hair and cover with rubber ducky sock.

AM:  Comb and style.

While it does take a little time to make the aloe mixture and my herbal rinse, I don't think this is a complicated routine (now my skin care routine, that can get complicated Smiley).  Plus the styling usually takes 5-10 minutes max, even when my hair is in a stubborn mood.  I usually take longer to decide what hairsticks to wear than to style my hair in the first place.

I just mention it because I've gotten several comments on how long it must take to care for "all that hair."  Roll Eyes

It's been a terrible day at work, I have a headache, I'm out of Excedrin Migraine, I haven't had time to drink my coffee yet, BUT.....my hair looks great. Grin  It even got compliments.  I'm wearing yesterday's bun again, but I braided the top tail before coiling.  I guess I'll call it the double pony bun so I know what I"m talking about.

Bun is 4.25" by 2".  I think when I finally order the Bronze Jeweler's spiderweb snood I'll just go ahead and order the big one--4.5" by 2.25".  I'll fit that one by the end of the year if not sooner--Lord willing and the crick don't rise as my Grandma used to say.

Used the Rosemary Lavender Aloe shampoo bar last night and my hair is great today.  I love Chagrin Valley.

I was scritching my scalp with my horn comb Tuesday when Bogie wandered by.  I combed down his back--as a joke I swear ! Roll Eyes--and he collapsed at my feet and insisted on being combed for 10 minutes.  His coat did look very nice, I must admit.  Cheesy

Bogie is a cat, but is unfortunately the closest thing I have to an SO at this time.  (to make it worse, he's neutered, too.  Wink)

Used my new Chagrin Valley carrot, milk and honey shampoo bar last night.  It looks like my hair is a bit overconditioned today, but since it was still damp this morning, it's a little hard to tell.  I'm wearing a scarf bun today--I put my hair up in a pony double bun, only THIS time I braided both ponytails, wrapped the lower around the base of the upper, then wrapped the upper around the outside.  It was a bit lopsided, so I covered it with the scarf my mom gave me.  It's long, with a black border, and the middle is covered with squares, in each a close-up of a cat face, all in orange, black, white and grey.  The crazy cat lady strikes again!

I've been wandering over to the Bronze Jeweler's site more and more often.  I really want the spiderweb snood.  With spider.  *drool*   Saturday I wore my hair loose in a low ponytail, secured by my spiderweb slide.  My hair's almost to the bottom of my brastrap now.  The slide and I went to Wal-Moo and bought Seinfeld Season 4 on DVD.  We enjoyed it very much.  Grin

My hairsticks came yesterday!

I opened the first perfumed bundle and it was--my Miss Scarlet sticks!  Yay!  They exactly match my Warm Glow individual stick--we got ourselves a family!

Next bundle--Moroccan Twilight sterling sticks

oooOOOOOOoooooo.........................pretty.  Even prettier than the pic.  The colors are so vivid and I like the larger size beads.  I don't own anything purple, I don't wear purple.

I may have to start now.

I do, however, wear a lot of turquoise, esp. in the summer.  Today, I'm wearing 2 birdsnest buns with my Moroccan Twilight sticks.

I can't make one birdsnest bun with most of my LL sticks 'cause they're too short.  I wonder if I stuck one behind the elastic on the left and then the other on the right.....I"ll have to try it.

Hairwash night.   I made liquid cold cream Sunday using grapeseed oil.  It works really well.  My last batch I used Queen Helene's carrot hair oil which I don't use on my hair as it's too sticky.  I figured I could use it as a face cleaner and not waste it.  I was wrong, wrong, wrong.  Until I made my new batch, I hadn't realized how the heavier oil doesn't clean my makeup thoroughly, so I had to use soap afterwards.  Also my skin didn't like it at all.  I poured the rest of the carrot blend down the sink--away with you!  Begone!

I believe the grapeseed oil cleans better than the macadamia nut oil.  Unfortunately it is a rather lurid and murky shade of green, esp after adding a bit of shea.

My hair doesn't seem overconditioned today, so I'll try the carrot, milk, and honey shampoo bar again tonight.  I also got a summer citrus bar, but when I cut it into thirds it was still very soft in the center, so I'll let it dry for another week or so.  Besides, If May is any indication we're having a cold, wet summer AGAIN.

Someone told me today we're supposed to have tornados again. Shocked  I remember 5 years ago when the tornados were here.  I was driving home and got caught in one, and I had nightmares all summer.  My house was struck by lightning 3 times (came through the phone lines and fried everything attached to them--phone, answering machine, modem, satellite receiver; fried the garage door opener; and screwed up phone service for a week).  The area sustained thousands of dollars in damage from the tornados, hail, and lightning (no deaths, thank God) and Bogie and I spent half the summer in the stinky basement.  Is it too much to ask for warm weather during the summer?  We're not even in tornado alley!

Besides, all of that humidity wreaks havoc on my hair.  8)

My hair was 27" on 4/20, and it's 27" today.

Angrystomp, pout, stomp, pout, stomp, pout Angry

At least I know it's not at terminal length, since it was longer than this when I cut it in Feb.

When I was a little baby, a tornado went right up the middle of the street my grandma's house was on.  We were all inside and the tornado didn't touch a blade of grass on her street, one street over it destroyed every house.
Then, when I was about 3 or 4 we lived in Bloomington, Ill. and the front yard of our house was struck by lightning which bounced me up in the air and right off the bed onto the floor.  I was petrified of thunderstorms for most of my life.  We were living in a lightning belt-every house in our neighborhood had lightning rods!
I hope your weather turns out tornado free and warm and sunny!!

I"m wearing my hair braided back in a ponytail today so it feels long, anyway.  Roll Eyes  Stupid resting hair.  I don't think it should be able to rest when I can't.

I made some homemade tendskin, recipe here:

http://www.geocities.com/bonnecasey/tendskinhomemade.html

I used an 8oz plastic bottle I got at Sally's to measure--it was marked in 1-oz increments and I eyeballed the half-oz measures.  I crushed the asa before adding it and put 4 drops of glycerin in the mix.  I"ve been using it as a spot treatment and it works wonderfully.  Keep in mind I have thick, oily, troubled skin and my daily toner is half ACV and half red tea (with some asa thrown in) so I can take something this strong on my face.

I think the carrot milk and honey shampoo bar is a bit too moisturizing for my hair.   While my hair's not as limp as it was with the honey, beer and egg bar, it's still overconditioned a little bit.  Ah, well.  At least I just got the sample size of the carrot bar and it will probably work well for shaving.

Couldn't do a thing with my hair today.  I finally made a nice-looking french twist completely by accident, pinned it up and added a couple of LL hairsticks--one brown and one of my infamous orange ones (I"m now doing the same thing with seafoam green.  I own NOTHING that matches seafoam green and I don't really like seafoam green but I keep pining for the sticks in that color.  I"m sick. Tongue)  When I got in the car the whole thing loosened and was swinging around on the back of my head so I re-adjusted the sticks.  Then this afternoon the twist slumped to the side and looked deflated.  I think I need some hair Viagra.

I'm trying to find a better way to store and display my sticks.  I have too many to fit in the cups I've been using.  Last night I took some washi paper and made little pouches for my more expensive sticks and lined them up in a hanging makeup organizer.  It's ok, but I'm still not completely happy.  I"ll probably end up making something custom before it's all over, if I can keep Bogie off of my sewing table.

I totally forgot it was Memorial Day Weekend.  I would have showed up for work Monday and wondered why everything was all locked up.  Roll Eyes
