Long Hair Unity

Everyone,

I had an interesting encounter at lunch today that I wanted to share with the group.  I sat down at a table near an older lady with very long hair.  She was with her children and grandchildern most likely.  I was with four other businessmen.  I immediately noticed her long past waistelength hair, and noticed her looking my direction.  She apparently had seen my very long braid as I walked by.  As we left the restaurant, I complimented her on her beautiful long hair.   She seemed very pleased by the compliment, and made comments about my long hair.  I have noticed that us long hair lovers seem to have a common bond that others don't have with short hair.  We all are impressed with the long hair of each other and respect the accomplishments.  I have noticed this fact everywhere I go for years now...the common bond we all have with our long manes!  It takes such effort to grow long hair, and oftentimes it's against the flow of society and style.
Have you all noticed this genuine bond we all have together because of our hair?

Well, since I'm too embarrassed to approach strangers and long hairs are a dime a dozen in my state, I can't comment on real life bonds. However, I do think there is a bond between the members of long hair forums! It's probably because on the forums we can find the support that might be missing from our, er, real lives.

I think it's really cool that you can talk to long haired strangers in real life, Blondestorm! I've wanted to do that, but was afraid the person would think I'm strange. Tongue

Juri,

Take the risk!  It's worth it...us long hair lovers gotta stick together!  I do truly love to compliment ladies with beautiful long hair and most seem to really appreciate it.  I have even complimented a few men....although I see very few with long hair.

I have complimented many women and men who have hair longer than typical.  Their reactions are always positive.  (Of course I don't mind a compliment or two thrown my way!  Grin)

I agree Blondestorm, when a long hair sees another long hair, we know how much time, patience and effort it has taken to grow their hair which does give us a special bond.

True, true. There's been several times when I wanted to compliment someone, but lost the nerve. I tend to keep to myself in real life, so I guess this would be a good thing to work on. Smiley

Yeah, it's really great when a shorter-haired person compliments my hair, but I think it's a real treat when a long-haired man or woman gives me a compliment.  Smiley

And I love giving them compliments!  I think it's because you both know all the hard work and waiting you've been putting into your haircare.  Mutual appreciating, and, what's even cooler, acceptance into the society of longhairs.  Grin

I don't often see people with long hair around, I guess it might be more common in America than in England, or perhaps I am very unobservant. I shall look out for them more. I did work with a girl who had gorgeous long hair to her butt and it was sort of mousy but lovely and straight and in great condition. She wasn't a very approachable person so I never attempted to compliment her but perhaps she would have 'softened' if I had complimented her. I gets lots of compliments from short haired people and I love it.

Are there many of you on this site who are from England. Come on now let's hear it for the long haired Brits among us.

I agree with Jules.  Where I live (near London) long haired women are not often seen.  Most younger women around here seem to have between shoulder and mid back length hair.  Hair as long a Jules is not regularly seen and classic length or longer would be a very rare sight.

But I do think that more men seem to be growing their hair longer ....  or perhaps I am becoming more aware of it as my hair grows out.  Nowhere near as long as Blondstorm's hair but there seem to be many more ponytails around these days. Again a man with a braid would be a very rare event

I'm glad to hear there are more pony tails around. I think they look great on men.

I think where I live, long hairs attract long hairs. I was working and a couple of twin guys came in. They had matching ponytails to their waist. Thick, healthy blond tails. Very nice. I complimented them and they didn't seem quite sure how to take it. It seems they don't get positive comments very often.

The nicest thing I ever heard anyone say about my hair wasn't said directly to me.  I was in line at the pharmacy, and I heard the little girl behind me say "mom. she looks like a mermaid!"
