Check the ingredients of everything you're using on your hair, EisPrinzessin, there may be a type of product (like an oil or -cone) that isn't working for you...

Ho-hum today. I didn't do anything special with my hair, although I've stopped using the Eufora products. My scalp was getting very itchy and sore. I've been using Goth Rosary shampoo and conditioner, and used Nexxus Aloe Rid (to get rid of any residuals left behind by the Eufora) and KeraPhix on Sunday. Much better. I think tomorrow morning, I'm going to start off with some Suave Milk & Honey, too and then my Goth Rosary stuff.

Of note, and nothing to do with my hair: I am in a desperate (I'm always desperate  Tongue) fight to get sunless tanning lotion off my skin. I thought I would try again this year, with the same results - orange arms and legs and feet that look dirty. I loofahed with a cocoa-scented scrub, but I still look dirty and freckled with sunless tanning lotion. I threw all the bottles of the stuff away, too. I've decided I am a pale girl and I'm going to STAY that way (I have really, really pale skin). Besides, red hair looks better with pale skin anyway.

Hey Eis-P.,

Nice to meet you and to see that you've started a journal to track your growth.  I am currently at BSL...and stuck there for life, I fear.  My ultimate goal, like you, is to reach waist length.  I'm doing my best, but just think that I've reached my hair's limit, I'll keep trying though!

Is your hair naturally red, or just colored red?  I went through a red spell myself a few years back....after I got finished with my black spell.  Roll Eyes  Now, I am content to leave it my natural brunette.

Good luck on your hair journey, I look forward to seeing your progress!  Grin

Hi, Maggie, nice to meet you too. I was born with reddish-brown hair and I've kept it somewhere between light red and reddish brown for about 7 years now, by coloring it. I'm starting to get greys (at 32  Embarrassed) so I have to dye at least the roots.

I am considering cancelling my next cut. My hair is getting to be in pretty good shape now. I use the ion dryer on a cool setting, and my hair seems to be slowly improving.

I CWC'd today with V05 Balsalm and Protein (my hair and scalp looooooooove this product), Goth Rosary shampoo and conditioner, and then used Auntie Rhubarb's Moisture Bomb in Woodland Spice as a leave-in. My hair is soft and bouncy and pretty today. And my scalp feels better than it did a few days ago - no more itchy burning.

Hey Eis,

I have just a few quick questions. You've been using the Goth Rosary washes for awhile and seem familiar with them. How is the lather on them, and how long do the fragrances last?

I've been thinking about buying some and wanted your opinion first.

I'm sorry - I tried to post this last night, but for some reason, I couldn't get it to work.

As far as lather, the Goth Rosary shampoo lathers similar to a regular shampoo (although it doesn't have the harsh ingredients of regular shampoos). I do dilute it a little bit, just to make it easier to work into my hair. The ingredients are listed on the website.

The conditioner is awesome - gives my hair a lot of slip, makes it shiny and pretty. The scent stays in all day - I've woken the next morning and the scent is still there. It's not overpowering, but it's present. I've only tried Mayhem, but I've just ordered Crypt.  You can order a sample pack of the fragrances before committing to buying the shampoo and conditioner (I didn't though - I'm a "jump in with both feet" kind of girl!).

Oh cool, thanx for the info!  Smiley

The site claims that the washes are low-lathering and I hate that, but I had a feeling somehow that they'd probably lather up just like any ordinary shampoo anyway.  Roll Eyes

lol Same here. I might order the sample pack just to get an idea of how everything really smells, though. I think Goth Rosary washes are definitely in my future.  Wink

AngelSpun, I conciously monitored the lathering yesterday morning. I would say that the shampoos lather more than most low-lathering shampoos (like L'Occitane), but less than most shampoos. Sorry for a bit of mis-info earlier. I find if I dilute a little bit, I get more lather and it's easier to work with.

I must be a glutton for punishment. I'm trying CO again. Actually, I figured out that I was doing it wrong. The last time I tried it (I think before I joined here), I wet my hair, put some V05 Balsalm and Protein on, rinsed it out and went on with my day. Big mistake - by two o'clock I had the greasies - big time.

Today, I did this - wet my hair, used Suave Milk & Honey as a cleansing conditioner - working it into my hair and scalp like a shampoo. Then I rinsed and used Nexxus KeraPhix as the second conditioner, leaving it in while I did the rest of my shower and then rinsing. We'll see how this one goes.

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

OMG! It worked! My hair looked good all day, not greasy at all. This morning I CO'd again - Suave Milk & Honey 1st, Goth Rosary 2nd and my hair looked gorgeous! I can't believe it worked for me!

Now if I could only break myself of the blow fryer habit....

You can do it.  Just try to go one more day a week not using it.  After a week or two, add another day, and so on until you wonder why you have the thing to begin with!  (My blow dryer has not been used on hair for 15 years - but it works great for shrinking the plastic cork covers on the bottles of wine hubby makes!  Grin)

I, too, was born with reddish brown hair, and until recently it remained that way.  Now it seems I've lost most of my red highlights and I'm more of a chestnut or chocolate brown, I liked my reds! Cry

I am starting to sprout my first greys and I'm only approaching thirty this summer.  I don't need to dye (yet!), it's not much of a problem so far, it's just that I've been finding some full length 'silvers' lately, and some of those short wirey, crazy ones too...I don't like those ones at all!

That goth shampoo & conditioner sound pretty interesting, you've piqued my curiosity, so I think I'll have to check their site out and maybe get some samples.  Grin

Last night I was feeling experimental  Roll Eyes and made a hair mask with mayo, honey and some essential oil. Slapped it on, wrapped the head in Saran Wrap and waited about two hours. Then I shampooed it out, conditioned and air-dried (yes!). My hair was voluminous, shiny and soft. Beautiful.

But this morning was the ultimate experiment. I CO'd (probably didn't need to since I did the mask last night, but I was nervous about going without for the day) with Suave Milk & Honey and Nexxus KeraPhix. Then I did the craziest thing I've ever done - I went to work, no blow-dry. I'd forgotten the lovely waves I had in my hair. I wasn't so sure this was a good idea when I first got to work (it looked a little off), but I just checked again and it looks nice. Wow. I might do it again tomorrow.

Bikerbraid, thanks for the encouragement to try it!
