Howdy!

Hello! I'm a first-time poster, though I've been a fan of the LongLocks website for years and years.

Back in 2003, I cut my hair from 28" long to super short. I kept it in a variety of short styles for maybe six months, then began growing it back out. When it got chin-length, I put in dreadlocks, kept those for about six months, then just last week combed them all out. (I loved my 'loc's, but for some reason, they just wouldn't "take" in my hair, hence being able to comb them out after so long!) So now I'm back on the growing-out-long-hair wagon!

So... it's now just above my shoulders, dark brown with gray streaks (which I love), thick and wavy. I use the most natural shampoos I can find, and condition with almond oil or apricot oil.

I have a low hairline, so wearing my hair down is pretty tough--it would basically hang in my face and leave a small sliver of space for me to see and breath out of. So I do a lot of up 'do's. I love braiding, but a messy bun is pretty much my standby.

Whew! Long introduction, but glad to have found y'all, and looking forward to talking tresses!

Welcome to LL!  Glad you've joined us and introduced yourself.

I hope you'll post some pics of your hair.  Do you have a new length goal?

You know, I don't think I do have a new goal. My hair at 28" last time (longest it had ever been) was rather unhealthy--I thought maybe that that was just too long for me, but the hair on the ends had been dyed a few times, and I wasn't hip to the whole "no metal clips" deal. I think this time around, I'll just let it go, take the best care of it I can, and see what happens... Smiley

OK-- Here's a pic from a few weeks ago, with the dreadlocks:

and one taken today:

I've been looking back through the pics in others' intros, and on the picture thread. Y'all's hair is so inspiring!! Angelspun, you're right--patience is the key. I am just planning on enjoying every length my hair is between now and when I stop letting it grow. After all, I don't plan on having it "short" again for quite a while. Thanks for the warm welcome, all!
