Hi everybody, I'm new!
Dec 1st, 2006 at 8:29pm

My name is Daren, and I'm thinking about growing my hair out.  I've always wanted to, but never could get past the 'awkward' stage.  My hair is kind of curly and bushy, anybody have any tips?  I look forward to getting to know you all better. Smiley

Welcome DarenG, I'm pretty new here too. I have a son with curly hair, which he likes to grow long(ish) every now and then. It looks like frayed rope sometimes! Usually that can be solved by 1) using conditioner and let it soak a minute or two before rinsing it out, (and not using bargain basement products - nothing special, but something a grade or two up from carwash detergent!) and/or 2) use something like a leave-in conditioner, rub in a small amount of hair cream. He uses a very light type that comes in a tube: you can't tell he has anything on his hair, but it's softer.

Welcome to Longlocks!  I've got wavy hair, so I have some similar hair issues.  Be sure to get yourself a wide tooth comb, and when your hair is drying leave it alone.  It is best to airdry if you can.

I use haircare from www.ouidad.com, its made specifically for curly hair.

Good Luck!!

Thanks for the welcome!  I guess my goal right now is to grow my hair out to shoulder length, after that, who knows? Wink  All the tips will help, I know.  Everyone here has such great hair, I hope mine looks as good when it grows out.

Greetings and welcome, DarenG.

Unfortunately, I don't know thing one about proper care for curly hair, but I know that many others here do. Best of luck & happy growing.  Smiley
