Finally!!  I got to henna and indigo my hair again!! Roll Eyes Cool  Haven't done it since the end of June! Embarrassed  I started at 10am this morning and finally finished at about 3pmish.  Here's what I did......
Took 100 grams of henna from Yemen(Catherine's,from the Mehandi Shop)added about 16 oz. distilled white vinegar.  Next time I'll use orange juice or apple juice.  Covered that with Saran Wrap and put it in the oven for 12 hours.  In a seperate bowl I took 300 grams of indigo and mixed that with about 24 to 30 oz. hot water.  Let it sit for a minute.  Both are the consistency of mashed potatoes.  Got to yogurt consistency though.  Added a heaping TBsp. of Amla to the henna and mixed that up.  Combined the henna and indigo together(wished I terped it because the hay smell is overbearing! Shocked)  Sectioned my hair into quarters and applied the mix.  It was too thick, should have thinned it out more, but I didn't want drips.  I had papered the floor in the bathroom, wore an old tee-shirt,paper towels around my neck,a cape over that and the fiasco began!!!!!!!!  It's always a long hard process to do this when you have very long hair, but the end result to so worth it!!!
After getting all of it in my hair,I almost didn't have enough, too;I put Saran Wrap around my head, cotton coil around the hairline, put a twisty towel on and left it on for 3 hours.  I had also put vaseline around my hairline before I began to keep it from staining my face.
It took 16 oz. of conditioner and 45 minutes to get all the mix out.  I am pooped!!!  Standing to do this with a torn meniscus in my right knee is a challenge to say the least!!!
If the ratio is correct for my hair,I should have near black hair with the greys covered.  It looks good so far,but needs to settle in in about 2 or 3 days.  I think I will do this next time with damp hair because there was a "rat's nest" when I started to rinse.
Now I can relax!!!! Cool

I'm sure that there is an easier way than the way I do it.  Please don't let my method deter you from trying it!  You're probably going to find an easier way to apply it than the way I do.  I just have really long hair that can be overwhelming at times to get the mix all in my hair!

lol @ "full time job"  Grin  Yeah, I'm with Trisha.

All of the mixing and mess, the time, the mud-like consistency...bleh.  Tongue  Not for me. If I ever decide to color my hair, I'll use either a semi- or demi-permanent. But I'm glad that you feel the results are worth the hassle.  Wink

I only feel that way when all is cleaned up and all is said and done!  There's alot of "choice words" when I have to rinse this cement like stuff out of my hair, but once I get it to loosen up and use lots of conditioner to help get it out,all the time is worth it!

The color has settled in and it is a very dark rich brown.  I'm happy with it.  I'm still trying to grab someone to take a pic.

Woo Hoo!!!!!!! The Giants win!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I've been a Giants fan for such a long time and it was a great game, too!!!  C made our SuperBowl party was special and nice for me.  He was up at 2am making his vegan baked beans for me and preparing his beef stew for himself.  I had made vegan apple crisp and a dessert that came out pretty good called Vegan chocolate peanut butter whip.  It was made with silken extra firm tofu and since I had never made it before;it wasn't bad.
We had veggies and other healthy things for munch on.  It actually was a very nice relaxing day.
So today is PT and the start of 1 month of it 3 times a week.  Hopefully it will help, but I doubt it.  Time will tell.
I'm almost done with the apron I'm sewing.  It's strange to work with patterns again.  I haven't worked with one since Junior High School!!!  The fleece jacket I made didn't turn out bad,but I'm not happy with the way the bias came out on the cuffs.  Oh well,it's a slow go to learning and re-learning the sewing world!!  After the apron,I'll work on the long vest pattern.
Got to pick out one of my early Valentine's Day gifts.  I'm getting a new sewing machine!!!  It's very cool.  A Brother C6000i.  My serger will have company, lol!   Many features on this machine and can make buttonholes!  I really worked over my Singer machine though.  It's still a good machine, but very basic,no buttonhole and no presser feet.  I think they were thrown out years ago by accident. Sad
I just need the space to lay out patterns.  The futon is fine for now,but I need a sewing room!!!!  Between the packing and getting rid of so much stuff,I'm hoping that a sewing room/crochet room will be able to be a reality instead of on my future wishlist!
