Oiling
Nov 25th, 2007 at 4:14pm

I finally gave away my sulfate and cone-laden products away.  I gave my L'oreal nutri-gloss shampoo and aussie hair insurance leave-in to my sister and my folicure shampoo to my dad.  I had my sister trim off my dead ends so I can really start with a clean slate.  I went to the health food store and bought some Burt's Bees Very Volumizing Pomegranate and Soy shampoo, some Jojoba Oil, and some black henna.  I also plan on buying some aloe vera gel for styling my hair and I have honey and acv at home.  I figure that's all I should need for my hair.  But I would appreciate some help in figuring out a routine for washing/oiling/acv-ing etc.  Please keep in mind that I have very fine, thin hair and it's a little past my shoulders.  It tends to get very flat and oily (except for the ends) if I don't wash it often.  I was previously washing every other day, rinsing every day and applying leave-in every day.  I also work out about every day, so my hair gets sweaty.  Does this seem like a good routine?

Sunday- shampoo, acv rinse, oil the ends (another question, should i oil when wet or when dry?)
Monday-rinse w/water
Tuesday-shampoo, oil the ends
Wed-rinse w/water
Thu-shampoo, deep condition, oil the ends
Fri-rinse w/water
Sat-shampp, oil the ends

how does that sound? Thanks!

You can oil either when then hair is wet or dry.  During the winter I like to oil my hair when wet after shampooing or rinsing and dry before bed.  If the air is really dry, I will also oil in the morning (dry hair).

You will need to just try different things until you find what works for you.  If you have not oiled your hair before, just remember that you use VERY LITTLE oil - a drop or two at the most.

I tend to get greasy quick with oils, even w/ a drop or two.  Camellia oil has proven to be best for my naturally dry hair.  If you find the jojoba too much for your fine hair, you might try Camellia.

I oil my ends every night before bed (one or two drops from the ears down) and after I wash and condition while its still damp.

If your scalp gets greasy easily, try white vinegar instead of acv.  Also, do not put conditioner on your hair above your ears.  Apply your leave in to the hair from the ears down.

I have wavy/curly dry hair that is medium texture and thick, so my hair type is totally different than yours, but I hope I've contributed something helpful.

Good Luck!
