I don't mean to be a downer, but I bet the devatation and destruction from the war burned up a lot of older records.

I hope you do get to go to Germany anyway, if only for a vacation.  I hope to go back someday.

Hummers are eating us out of house and home--we have sighted at least 15-20.     The little buggers are draining 2-3 feeders at least once every day (sometimes twice).  Sheesh!

I wish I had that problem...well perhaps on a smaller scale.  We only get 4 or 6 hummers a day. Sometimes it's just one at a time, other times they are in pairs of two, but never anymore than that.  I have to discard unused nectar and refill the feeders because they aren't drinking it fast enough.
Perhaps you can send a few of yours this way! Grin

I'm glad that your happy with your blouses, dah-ling! Grin  I love frilly blouses too...they're just too cute! Smiley

Sorry that your daughter had to delay her move, but when she finds the right job it'll make her move that much sweeter! Smiley

And congrats on your genealogy progress! Cheesy

Don't worry, dear, you're not telling me anything I haven't already considered.   Smiley  The records could have been destroyed...  Or there may not have been a record at all.  Way back when, paper birth certificates weren't used.  Everything was written in a family bible or passed down orally through the family.

I guess a lot of people would find this level of uncertainity unworth their time.  But I've always loved a good mystery, and I find it fascinating to see how far back I can go.

At this point I wish I *could* send you some!   Cheesy
If you continue putting out feeders each season, you WILL gradually get more and more hummers every year.  I remember last year having to discard unused nectar every other day because my little crowd wasn't drinking it fast enough.  Now look this year!

Friday 1 August 2008
Hair:  Wash day.  Need to do a vinegar rinse this weekend.  Also need to measure, this being a new month.   Smiley

Weighty Matters:  Haven't been on the scale in a week or two.  But my clothes feel all right, so I really don't care.

Other:  Daughter is coming home again this weekend to attend a baby shower for one of her friends.   A former teacher has put her on the trail of a possible job opening here in town, so say a prayer.   Smiley

Monday 4 August 2008
Hair:  Length is currently at 20.5 inches.   Smiley  Still waiting patiently for my sides to grow out--as if I have a choice.  Ugh.  All is well, though.

Other:  My daughter came up again this weekend, yay rah.   Cheesy  It was so nice, seeing her two weekends in a row.  Nothing new in her job search, but at least she already HAS a full time job that pays well (and she likes).

I bought some new clothes this weekend; four pairs of slacks and two tops.  I now have plenty of skirts and slacks, and just need a few more tops.  My wardrobe for work had gotten pretty scarce!  I also discovered that I can fit into a size 12 pair of slacks.   Shocked  Which is weird, because...well, I guess I still think of myself in terms of being a size 16.  Hmm...

Congrats on the size 12!  I know exactly how you feel about the 16 and the size 12!  I was (many moons ago) a size 16 or 18 and now being either a  4 or 6, it's hard to adjust!

Friday 8 August 2008
Hair:  No wash today, hair in a low ponytail.  Definitely seeing more and more grey strands in my hair, which I think is cool.   Smiley

Other:  My student worker is rereading the Dark Tower (Stephen King) series of books and has convinced me to read them with her.  She owns all 7 (8?) books and hands one off to me when she finishes.  Right now I'm halfway through book #2.

No plans for the weekend...  if the temperatures cool a bit, I may try to visit a couple of cemeteries for grave marker photos.

Sounds like fun.  I used to work with a huge Danielle Steel fan and we'd do the same thing.  It was fun discussing the books afterwards.

I'm sure you have a logical explanation but, huh? Huh Grin

Monday 11 August 2008
Hair:  I'm trying something new.  Saturday I "washed" with Pantene Classic Clean conditioner, did a vinegar rinse, and then put on Pantene Breakage Defense conditioner to soak in while I finished my shower.  Good gravy, my hair felt extremely soft afterward!  Of course yesterday, Sunday, was a no-wash day.  Now today, Monday, I probably should have washed again, because my hair is pretty greasy.  But I held off, just put it in a bun, and I'll wash tomorrow.  Plan on doing the same routine as Saturday.

Yeah, I think I recall you mentioning that you do genealogy research. Grin

Out of curiosity, how do you use the pictures, what do you do with them?  ...If you don't mind my asking. Smiley

Tuesday 12 August 2008
Hair:  This morning I tried the very same routine as on Saturday.  My hair is once again soft, however it looks greasy, like 3rd day hair.   Sad  So back to shampoo I go.  Oh well, it was just an experiment.

Other:  La Diosa, eventually I intend to put all of this research into a book of sorts, for future generations to have.  That is, if there are any future generations.  I hope to have grandkids someday, but you never know.  Nothing else, the book could always be donated to the local genealogical society's archive center.
